Chapter 13

Lilly giggled at Aaron, she hadn’t expected him to have a childish side. It reminded her of Cameron except that Aaron was covered in tattoos, slightly older, and even had his tongue pierced which she was surprised she had missed. “Were you wearing that yesterday?” She c****d her head to the side, her eyes on his mouth. “What, this?” He caught the metal bar between his teeth, showing the gold ball on top and then released it. “Nah, I had lost my old one. Just picked this one up today.” “I thought I lost my mind for a second.” She laughed. “Why, you like tongue piercings?” He smirked at her, giving her stomach a fluttery feeling. “I’ve always thought they were interesting.” A blush dusted her cheeks. It was true she had an interest in them but they weren’t innocent reasons. She had heard guys, and girls, using them to their advance while going down on someone. She personally didn’t want one on her tongue but she was curious about how it would feel. “We-well, I should get going. Cameron is probably wondering where I am.” Changing the subject helped her embarrassment. “Thank you for lunch, this place is great.” She grinned. “One of my favorites.” He grinned back. “Can I give you a ride? I’m going to the apartments anyway.” “Sure.” Her smile soften, her mood high. Aaron picked up their garbage and tossed it on their way out. It was a small locally owned place, one where the food is made to order and the ingredients were excellent quality. She followed him out into the sunny day and toward a dark green sports car. Her jaw dropped. “Nice, isn’t she?” A cocky grin on his face. “Yea.” She breathed. “You’re not going to kill me in this thing, are you?” “Ouch, you’re doubting my driving skills?” “I just know how boys are with they toys.” She teased playfully. “You’re in luck then, I’m not a boy.” He winked and pulled on a pair of dark sunglasses as he dropped down into the low seat. She rolled her eyes but was amused. She got into the passenger seat and let her eyes roam over the well kept inside. Of course it was clean, this car must have cost a small fortune. “You going to put your belt on? Don’t want you dying on me.” He nudged her gently with his elbow. “Yea, yea. I was admiring how nicely you keep your car. Cameron would leave empty cans and fast food bags in his mom’s car.” She crinkled her nose but giggled. “Again, not a boy.” His cocky smirk returning and sped off. Lilly clutched at her seat, his driving smooth but much faster than she was use to. It didn’t give her a chance to think about him calling Cameron a boy and him a man. Naturally, at the speed he was going, it didn’t take them long to get back to their apartment complex. He parked in his assigned spot and they both got out. He went to the trunk of his car while Lilly went to the curb. “Beer.” He grinned, pulling a case from the truck of his car. “I don’t know how you guys drink every night.” She shook her head and followed him up to Cameron’s apartment. “Cameron?” “Hey guys, he’s in the shower.” Courtney lounged on the couch, her hair wet and slicked back. The combo struck Lilly hard, the corners of her mouth dropping before she could catch herself. Had they showered together? She swallowed hard and forced a smile on her face. “I told him to go shopping, did he?” “Doubt it, he never does anything I tell him to do.” Lilly gritted her teeth together, she didn’t understand why Courtney was getting under her skin today. She turned her attention to Aaron who was halfway in the kitchen. She decided to head after him, seeing Courtney’s wet hair had put too many thoughts, and images, into her mind. “Holy s**t, he did go shopping.” Aaron spoke into the fridge. “Barely have room for the beer.” He shoved the case in, ripped the cardboard, and pulled out a can. “He did?” A little hope flooded her, why, she didn’t know. She went over to see what he bought and was surprised that her Cameron had it in him to buy fresh foods and of such variety. A couple ideas of different meals she could make came to her. “What the f**k are you doing here, Courtney?” Cameron’s angry voice startled Lilly and caused her to accidentally slam the fridge. Cameron’s scowling face turned toward Lilly and Aaron. His face softened, his eyes sparking with guilt for a moment. Guilt for what? Did he do things with Courtney or was he ashamed for how he spoke to her?
