Chapter 8

819 Words
Lilly sat between Cameron and Jaxon on the couch. After talking to Courtney about Madusa’s, the club they were going to that weekend, Cameron’s other two friends showed up. Jaxon happened to be the hungover guy from the elevator earlier that day when she arrived and Aaron was a black haired, blue eyed guy with tattoos covering his arms. While Jaxon seemed more friendly and outgoing, Aaron was serious and rather blunt with his words. She instantly noticed the extra attention she received from the boys. And how jealous it made Cameron. She smiled at that. Serves him right. She had barely been able to kiss another person, yet he jumped on some chick the first chance he got. Multiple times. And a blonde no doubt. A pang of her own jealous spiked through her. Blonde with blues eyes. The complete opposite of her. She also was very much a girly-girl. As in always painted with make-up, sporting heels, and having her hair done. Everything Lilly had hoped she could be but never succeeded in. Maybe that was why Cameron picked her. She was neatly put together and always dolled up. Lilly had her moments of looking nice but her plain wavy hair always seemed a mess and she could never figure out her make-up. It didn’t blended properly and would leave her skin feeling thick and grimy. “So, Lilly.” A hand grazed her thigh. “Are you single?” She pulled herself from her thoughts and tilted her head to face Jaxon. Her hair flowing gently around her at her movement and a small smile appeared on her lips. “Yes.” She didn’t hesitate, it was the truth after all. She could feel Cameron tense next to her. Good. “Oh! We’ll have to find you a boyfriend so we can go on double dates!” Courtney squeezed. “I’m not your f*****g boyfriend, Courtney.” Cameron snapped. Lilly was surprised by the harshness of his words. She wondered if they were true or if he was trying to dump her now that she was there. “It’ll be so much fun, Cam!” Courtney continues, ignoring Cameron’s words. “Maybe I’ll find someone on campus.” Lilly sighed, not really serious. “I can be that person.” Jaxon winked. “She said ‘on campus.’ You live at home with mommy.” Aaron spoke up but had his eyes glued to the TV. “I still go to classes here!” “Trust me.” Aaron peered over at Lilly. “You’ll want to find an actual man. One who can afford to buy you dinner and bring you flowers. I’d be more than happy to do that for you, beautiful.” “Seems you already have some options. Personally, wouldn’t choose either of them.” Courtney joined in. “We wouldn’t choose you either.” Aaron rolled his eyes and tuned back into the TV. “Contrary to what Aaron said, I can afford things. How about dinner tomorrow night?” His hand slid across the top of her thigh. Cameron shot up from his spot and stormed off to the kitchen, leaving Lilly feeling partially guilty. “The hell is his problem?” Jaxon glanced toward Cameron while leaning closer to Lilly. “He’s been moody since Lilly got here.” Courtney scuffed. “It-.. It has been a long time since we’ve seen each other. He might have wanted some alone time.” She defended him. “So we can catch up, that is.” She added quickly. “I don’t see why me being here would bother him. It’s probably you two.” She scowled at Jaxon and Aaron. “Always weaseling your way into his apartment.” Jaxon burst into a fit of laughter while Aaron gawked at her. “You’re the one pushing your way in.” Aaron snapped back at her. “Can’t even take a f*****g hint.” He stood up and went to the kitchen. “I should go talk to him.” Lilly’s words were soft and she lightly slipped Jaxon’s hand off her leg as she stood up. As she entered the kitchen she only spotted Aaron who was bent over and glaring into the empty fridge. “Cameron! You need to go shopping dude.” He glanced over at Lilly, slightly surprised to see her and not his buddy. “Where did he wonder off to?” “I don’t know.” Aaron shut the fridge, clearly annoyed by having no more alcohol. “I’m going to get more beer.” He left Lilly standing by herself. Had she upset him so much he disappeared to his room? Hadn’t he even considered how she felt? As soon as she arrived, he had her in his embrace and only 20 minutes later did she find out there’s kind of a woman in his life. She sighed heavily and made her way toward his room. She knocked softly on the open door but didn’t see him nor did she get an answer. He was really sulking. She couldn’t help but giggle a little as she stepped into his room. “Cameron..” Her voice sing-song-y and drawn out. Suddenly, a hand covered her mouth and she was pulled backwards into a hard chest. The bedroom door was quietly shut and the lock engaged. “You’ve been naughty.” He growled against her ear. “You know what happens when I get jealous.”
