Chapter 20

Lilly felt herself floating, which was impossible. Her eyes cracked open, her line of sight filled with a chest clad in a tight black t-shirt. Aaron. “Wha-” She glanced around and noticed the familiar hallway of their apartment complex. “I was trying not to wake you up.” He chuckled. “We’re almost to my place.” “I’m sorry, I can walk.” She attempted to get out of his hold. “Don’t worry about it.” His hold tightening and pressing her closer to his body. One of her hands rested between his pectoral muscles, her fingers spread wide. His scent hit her nostrils hard, it was a seductive manly smell mixed with a hint of cigarettes. She licked her lips and let her head lay on him again. She wasn’t sure how but he unlocked and opened the door to his place without dropping her or even struggling. He relocked the door, reassuring her it was to keep others out and that she could leave whenever. She teased him that he was kidnapping her and going to chain her to his bed. “Don’t tempt me, that sounds like a good idea.” He teased her back. Aaron carried her to his room and laid her down on his bed. The smell on shirt, minus the cigarettes, was stronger. “Get some rest, I’ll be on the couch if you need me.” She sat up, surprised he wasn’t pushing for what they had started at the club. She was tired, the previous night she’d barely slept and even though she told Cameron she was going to nap, she never did. She had too many thoughts on her mind. “Wait-!” “Hm?” “Did.. you text Cameron?” “I did.” She glanced down, bitting her lip, then peering up at him through her eye lashes. “Can I have something to wear?” She was sitting up in his bed now, her knees drawn up to her chest. He thought about her question for a split second and moved to a dresser off to the side of the bed. He pulled the second drawer opened and took out a gray shirt. “You can put this on. I doubt my shorts will fit you though.” She crawled to the edge of the bed and took the soft cotton shirt from him. “Thank you.” She smiled and stepped off the bed. “There’s a bathroom over there, if you want.” She took his words as a challenge. She was fairly confident that at some point something was going to happen between them. Something more than a hot kiss outside a popular club. She didn’t care that she had recently met him or if he was trying to hit it and quit it. Cameron got to sleep with someone else, so would she. She reached behind her to unzip her dress, the material falling from her body and landing in a circle around her ankles. She heard Aaron swallow hard. His eyes hungrily eating her up. She had worn her brand-new lingerie set; a skimpy, lacy, barely-there black bra and thong. She tossed the large shirt over her head, the length enough to cover her butt, and crawled back into his bed where she twisted herself into his comforter. “Good night, Aaron.” She yawned, sinking into his pillow. She didn’t get to see his reaction but heard him mutter a curse in his way out the door. Lilly managed to get a couple hours of sleep. The clock on Aaron’s nightstand read 8am. She stretched out and pulled herself from his comfortable bed. Her eyes moved around the room, her body slowly adjusting and waking up. Eventually, she made her way to the bathroom to wash her face and try to better tame her hair. Her eyes stared into the mirror at the shirt she was wearing. She’d never worn Cameron’s before and had always wonder what it would be like to wear a man’s shirt. Not one you buy for yourself, one that actual belongs to someone. She liked it. Not wanting to walk back to her apartment in his shirt, or steal it even though she wanted too, she changed back into her dress and crept out of his room. She spotted him laying on the couch, chest bare and his lower half covered by a throw blanket. His legs hung off the armrest, making her feel guilty. She would have fit on the couch with extra room. She stared at him for a moment, his face relaxed and no longer serious. A flutter of butterflies rolled through her stomach, a feeling she only ever had with Cameron. Her heart sank. She shook her head to try clearing her thoughts and made her way to the kitchen. Aaron didn’t sleep in like Cameron did, she decided to make him breakfast as thank you for letting her stay at his place.
