Chapter Ten

(Aurora's POV) "And 5, 6, 7, 8." The cheerleading team practiced the pyramid, and I got at the top. We had no trouble maintaining our composer. "Okay, girls. Hold it there!" Erin cheered. It's been a week and a half since Titus left. I rarely hear from him at all. I'll get the occasional text saying he misses me and loves me if I'm lucky. Then I won't hear from him for a couple of days. The worst thing about all this is that I have no idea what he is doing. Then the girl below me moved a bit, and I fell to the ground. Luckily, I dropped to my feet, but I felt like my life flashed before my eyes. "Oh my god! Aurora, are you okay?" Malia said to me. "Oh my gosh, Aurora. Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Erin said, checking my body for any injuries. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm not hurt." I reassured Erin that I was okay. "Okay, practice is over. I'm taking Aurora to the nurse." Erin took my arm over her shoulder to ensure I could still walk. The nurse started to check me out like a typical doctor. "Nurse Joy, is she okay?" Erin asked. "You're going to be perfectly fine, Aurora. You're just shaken up, which is understandable. But I would advise you, Erin, that your squad pays more attention. This could have been a lot worse," Nurse Joy said. "Of course, Nurse Joy, Aurora has experience being a cheerleader, which might have saved her from a possible injury. I will also have a chat with the team about what happened." Erin said. "Good. There is no rush, but you are free to return to class whenever you are ready; if you are dizzy or anything that feels out of the ordinary, come back and see me, okay?" Nurse Joy said sternly. "Yeah, thank you," I said to Nurse Joy, and she nodded and left for her office. "Aurora, I'm so sorry; this should never have happened. My head wasn't with you guys, and I should have been paying more attention." Erin said, holding my head and almost about to cry. "Erin, it's not your fault. You have no control over what's happening in the air. Besides, I'm fine. Not even a scratch." "Yeah, I did say that you have experience being a cheerleader at your previous school. You were up very high, and anyone else would have broken something," Erin said in her thinking tone. "I don't know if my cheerleading experience saved me, Erin, but it felt like I jumped off a small step," I said. "By the way, have you heard anything from Titus yet? It's been a few days." I was twirling my fingers, hoping that she knew something. "I'm sorry, Aurora, but I don't know anything. I mean. I should be going. Just be careful, okay." Erin said, and she left me alone in the nurse's office. "Erin, wait!" But she never looked back at me. After school, I decided to go to the library. I needed to calm down from the events of today. Erin's reaction when I asked about Titus was off. Now that I think about it, she has been off for a while. Erin hasn't been her bubbly self, and Jack hasn't been coming to school. I hope that they're both alright. I picked up a book about Werewolves, also known as the children of the Moon. They are shape-shifting creatures with the ability to turn into a wolf and have a human form. I continued to read the book as it interested me; it's all fantasy. Werewolves have enhanced speed, strength, reflexes, and senses. A Wolf, known as the Alpha King, rules over them, The Alpha of Alphas. Some say he is ruthless. He can kill a human with a flick of his wrist. His eyes are transparent; one look, and you'll do anything for him. You'll want to please him, kill for him, anything he wants. Each wolf longs for its mate, the other half of its soul—a mate they spend the rest of their lives with. The female has no choice about who they love; the male chooses her. Well, would you look at that? Even werewolves have discrimination. I continued to read, but before I could read the chapter about some old religion that Werewolves believe in, I got a tap on my shoulder. "I'm sorry, miss, but the library is closed." Said the Librarian. "Oh my gosh, how long have I been here?" I said, looking at my phone. "Well, it's about 7 pm, so--" When she said the time, I freaked out, "OH MY GOD. I should be home by now." I have her the book I read, but she gave it back to me. "Keep it; you seemed very interested in the book." The Librarian said. "You may come across something beneficial." "Thank you very much." I smiled at her. I left the library and got stopped by a man. "Hi there." Said the man. "Ummm, hi," I said with suspicion. "Aurora!" He said, and I stopped in my tracks. How does this man know my name? "H-How do you know my name?" I said. "I'm a friend of Titus. My name is Gabrial. But my friends call me Gabe. Have you heard from Titus lately? I think we are overdue for catchup?" Gabrial asked. "He never spoke of you." I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "Let's just say we are." He paused. "Childhood friends. So where is Titus?" "He's actually out of town, sorting out some things," I said. "Well, when he gets home, tell him that his friend Gabrial is looking for him," Gabrial said. "Of course. Well, I better get going. See you around." I waved as I walked off. "I'll see you later, Aurora," Gabrial said. That whole encounter was bizarre, but I was introduced to a familiar face as soon as I got home and opened the front door. "Aunt Freya?!!!" I saw my Aunt arguing with my parents, but that vanished when she saw me. "Is that my favorite niece?" Freya said. "Oh, baby girl, how you have grown." I hugged her hard. "I missed you so much," I said. "Now tell me. What's been going on with you? Last I saw you, you were eight years old, and now you are a beautiful young adult. I'm sure there is a boy in your life now." Freya giggled with excitement. "Well," I rubbed my neck. "I knew it. Why don't we go to your room and talk about this mysterious boy?" Freya said warmly. "Your parents won't want to hear all the horny and juicy details," Freya said warmly. "You're not wrong." I laughed. "I need to clean my room before you step in. Just wait here for a minute." I ran up to my room and began cleaning. I even put my pajamas on before Aunt Freya opened my door. "Hey. Now tell me everything!" Aunt Freya said as she closed my door. "His name. What's his name? What does he look like?" She gasped. "I bet he plays football." I laughed with her. I explained to my Aunt about my boyfriend, Titus. "His name is Titus, and he looks like William Levy. But no, as far as I know, he does not play any sports, but he seems to work out a lot. He's super-toned, Aunt Freya; he is like s*x on f*****g legs." "I can't wait to meet him." Aunt Freya smiled. Having Aunt Freya in my life again was terrific. She reminds me so much of Kiara. They talk very similarly, and they have the same laugh. It's like she never died in the first place. "How long are you staying for?" I asked my Aunt. "I will be staying for a couple of weeks. Your father needs some help with the family business and-" She paused and looked at the open backpack. "What are you reading about?" Aunt Freya grabbed the book. "Werewolves. I found the book at the library. I look online, and there are many interesting fanfictions. The Librarian said that I could keep it and that I might find something interesting." Aunt Freya opened the book and began to read it. "My God, I haven't seen one of these books since my early 20's." Aunt Freya said. "You read these types of books?" I asked her. "What have you read so far?" Aunt Freya asked me. "Just a bit about them. Something about werewolves being ruthless beings that transform into mindless monsters. They are also known as children of the Moon." I said. "Oh, honey. Most of the information in this book is complete f*****g rubbish. Werewolves don't just change under a full moon; they can change into their wolf form whenever they wish. What else does it say?" Aunt Freya said. "It talked about werewolves having a significant other? A mate, I think the book said? Aunt Freya, what do you know about this?" I asked her. "Freya!" My father said when he opened my door. "We need to talk. Aurora, you have school tomorrow; get some rest." "Wait," I interjected. "It's okay, Aurora. I'm going to be sticking around for a while. We will talk more soon, okay?" Aunt Freya smiled. "I'll see you later. Keep an open mind when reading that book, okay." My Aunt soon left with my father (Freya's POV) Joseph was furious that I was at his house with him. He was never a calm man. "You have no right to tell her anything, Freya!" Joesph warned me. "No, right!?" I said, astonished. "Aurora has every RIGHT to know!" "She is my daughter Freya, and I'm warning you," Joseph growled. "Then I guess you've forgotten who your daughter is. She will find out and if you hurt her because of it." I threatened him. "You'll kill me?" Joseph mocked. "Try me! f**k around and find out," I walked off in anger. The next day, I took Aurora out shopping after school. It has been years since I have last seen her. I missed her. "Okay, there is one more place I would like to take you," I said. "Follow me." I led her to the cemetery. "Aunt Freya, why are we here?" Aurora asked me. "You're father never wanted you to come here." I took a deep breath. "Aurora, this is the place where we buried Kiara." Aurora gasped, and I pointed to the location of her grave. "Right over there. "It's your choice if you want to see her grave, but I just thought you should know where your sister was buried. I will give you some time alone. (Aurora's POV) My parents told me they could never have a proper funeral because nothing was left to bury. But Kiara was here after all these years, in Avalon and now in front of me. I touched her tombstone. "Kiara. I-I'm so sorry, Kiara. I'm sorry that I was a coward, I'm sorry that I didn't stand there with you, I'm sorry that I wasn't there to say goodbye. I should have died by your side." My emotions took over, and I couldn't stay strong anymore. I just let go. Kiara Armstrong is gone forever, and I will never see her again. I thought that Kiara could still be alive. I believed that there was no body all these years because there was no grave. But this grave has killed every last hope I had left in me. This grave confirmed that my beloved sister was never coming back. "Goodbye, Kiara; I hope to see you again with the dawn."
