Chapter Eleven

(Aurora's POV) I woke up the following day feeling better; I got closure about my sister and seeing her grave gave me what I needed to move on. I can finally focus on myself, my future, fate, and destiny. I walked into first-period class feeling down in the dumps, but then I saw a handsome smiling face looking at me. "Titus!" I smiled. "Morning, beautiful. Miss me?" Titus kissed me. "Meet me outside in five minutes," I whispered. I walked out and got ready to ambush Titus, and I saw him leaving the classroom, looking all over for me. I opened the storage room, pulled him in, and pushed him against the wall. This time, he was wearing cologne, which made my lust for him burn even hotter. I smashed my lips against him, and he moaned my name in ecstasy. Without breaking our kiss, he changed positions so that now I was against the wall. I wrapped my legs around his waist. I gave him the most sexist chuckle. God, what is this man doing to me? I missed him so much. After being away from him for so long, I kissed Titus like he had been missing years with me. Thoughts of what I wanted him to do to me were beginning to swirl in my mind. I pulled away slowly and gently placed myself back on the floor. "If I'm going to be welcomed home like this every time I leave. Maybe I should leave more often." Titus chuckled as he pecked a kiss on the lips. "You better not!" Titus laughed as I breathed deeply. "I missed you." "I missed you too," Titus said warmly. "Hey, why don't you come over tonight? We could watch a movie," Titus suggested. "I would love that," I said. "Just don't forget the food." I winked. We both left the school storage closet and returned to class, and everything was normal from there. School soon ended as I met up with Titus near his locker. He was talking to someone on his phone. "Sorry, Aurora, it seems like I forgot I have something going on tonight." "Oh, what are you doing?" I asked, tilting my head. "My parents are planning a ball, and I'm needed to help set it up," Titus said. "A ball? For what?" I asked him. "Yeah, it's part of the family business." Titus nodded. "And you can come with me." He smiled. "Your kidding!" I said, shocked. "I'm serious, Aurora. Come with me." Titus insisted. "But wouldn't I be intruding or something?" I said, looking at him. "No, of course not! You are my girlfriend, after all. You might as well meet the people I'll be working with," Titus said. "Okay, but what am I going to wear?" I said. "From what I've seen in the movies, Titus, festivals are a big deal." Titus laughed. "Movies? This one will be nothing different from what you've seen in movies. Erin will help you get ready. She has plenty of dresses you can borrow." I turned around to think about it. "So, is that a yes?" "Oh, what the hell. I'm in." I smiled "Wonderful, I'll text Erin, and she will contact you." A few hours later, I met up with Erin, and she took me to her house. A big mansion where her entire family lived. "I'm delighted that you have decided to join us tonight, Aurora! It's going to be great." "I'm happy to attend, Erin, and it's nice to see you back to your normal self. Was there something you wanted to talk about?" I asked her, and her face grew dark like there was something she was hiding from me. I wasn't going to press her for answers; she would tell me when she was ready. What made her depressed and sad is not my right to know. "You were pretty down last week." "Oh, umm." Erin breathed deeply, and I hugged her. "Hey, it's okay if you don't want to tell me anything. I want you to know if you need anything, anything at all. I will be there for you." I hugged her more tightly. Erin started to cry. "Thank you, Aurora." Erin then wiped her face with a cloth. "Now, let's cry on some dresses. Erin opened the door to her closet, and it was like a whole other room entirely. "Welcome to my closet!" "It's incredible," I said, looking around. "Thank you. The stylist will be here to help you get fitted for a dress shortly. You can take a shower while we wait for him." Erin said, making a plan for me. "Erin, I thought I would borrow one of your dresses," I said with embarrassment. "Oh honey, no! You can't wear any old dress to these kinds of formal events. The Moon Festival is more special than that. Especially not one from a." Erin tried to spit something out like it was a forbidden word that she couldn't say. "CLOSET!!!" Erin screamed. "You have to look your absolute best! Especially when you are walking in, hand in hand with Titus." "I've been meaning to ask. What business are your parents in? This seems more formal than I anticipated," I asked Erin. "Oh, you don't even know the half of it. Don't worry about it, Aurora. Stick with Titus, and you'll be fine. And go enjoy a hot shower; we don't have much time." Erin said as I nodded and went to use her bathroom. I opened the door and saw a girl that was already in there. "Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't realize this bathroom was being used." "Oh, Miss! I was getting your bath ready." The young woman said. Oh, I should have expected this. Titus's family had maids to cater to their every need. I know I'm rich, but we don't use maids. My father never liked the idea of hiring them. We clean up after ourselves. "Oh, thank you??" I said with confusion. "I'm so sorry, and I tried to get it ready before you came in." Said the young woman. "Please enjoy it." The maid left me alone in the bathroom, but not without saying that my bathrobe was hanging by the bathtub, and the towels were folded right by it. I thanked her as she left with a warm smile. I can't believe that a maid prepared a bath for me. I always prepared one myself, as I was always independent. I have never had a bath with so many bubbles. It was very relaxing—the smell of roses and lilac. "Aurora!!! The dresses are here," Erin called out to tell me. Well, the bath was fun while it lasted. I entered Erin's closet again with my bathrobe on, and I saw Erin posing as she showed off the dresses. "Amazing, aren't they?" Erin smiled. "Erin, I have no words!" I looked at the dresses and the masks they came with, and it felt like we were going to a masquerade ball instead of a festival. "I don't think I can choose between the three." "Well, we need to do your hair and makeup. You will have plenty of time to choose," Erin gasped. "I'm so excited! Come on!" Erin dragged me out of her closet and placed me by her makeup stand. "I will do my makeup in the other room. Will you be alright?" "I'll be fine, Erin," I said. "I'll be back in the closet when I'm ready." When I was younger, my aunt Freya taught me how to make a braid, and I wanted to make a princess braid. I twirled my hair together, made it loose on the sides, and put on dark red lipstick. I returned to Erin's closet, where she was waiting for me. "So what's with the masks?" I asked her. "It's a masquerade party," Erin said. "Did Titus not tell you?" "Umm, no." I laughed nervously. "Ugh, men," Erin scoffed. "Okay, pick a dress you like, and then you'll be walking in this ball with me. Now choose a dress as I already got mine ready; I need to call my brother. Erin left me alone to pick one of the three dresses. I chose the maroon dress with the black lining running down to the feet. I loved it. "Wow, you look amazing!!!" Erin said warmly. "I love it!! Let me get dressed, and we can get going." It didn't take long for Erin to get ready. Her dress was flashy, but she pulled it off. I think Erin can look great with anything. We went down to the great hall where everyone was gathering. There were so many people. "Wow, Erin, this is-" "Over. The. Top!" Erin groaned. "I know. My parents are very extra with s**t like this." "I was going to say beautiful." I laughed. "Every time you show me something new, it always amazes me." "Aurora, you are in for a wild ride." Erin rubbed her hands while smiling. "Come on; I will introduce you to some people." Erin gently grabbed my hand and took me to meet a few people to whom she wanted to introduce me too. "Rylie, Phillipe, this is my friend Aurora." Erin introduced me. "Hello," I waved. Rylie and Phillipe bowed to us while Erin quietly scoffed. "Have you guys seen my brother?" Erin asked them. "He hasn't made his entrance yet," Rylie said. "But you know, Titus. Always walking in when you least expect it." Phillipe chuckled. "Do you mind if we steal for a moment, Princess? We need to go over a few things with you." Rylie said. Erin turned to face me. "Do you mind if I go with them for a little bit?" Erin asked me. "If you don't feel comfortable, I will not go with them, Aurora." I nodded at her. "I'll be fine. I'll probably find somewhere to sit down." I said to her. "Okay, but I'll be back soon!" Erin said, and I nodded in understanding. There was something about this ball that made me feel left out. Everyone here looked important, yet I had no idea what for. They were all elegant in how they spoke, moved, and danced. I pondered on why Rylie called Erin a Princess. I might be overthinking it, but I think there is something that Titus and Erin are not telling me. Suddenly, a warm sensation overcame my body. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach, and I couldn't hold myself from smiling. Titus. "Excuse me, miss," Titus said from behind me. "I believe I owe you a dance." As soon as I heard his voice, nerves and excitement ran through my body. "Wow, you look good in a tux," I said. "Oh yeah?" Titus smirked. "You should wear them more often," I said. "Then I'll invite you to more of these balls." Titus and I laughed. "You look breathtaking. Now, I remember saying I owe you a dance." "I don't think my dancing skills would be suitable for a ball like this," I said as Titus laughed. "Follow my lead." Titus offered his hand and guided me to the dance floor. We slowly danced to the music that was playing. I noticed a purple mist surrounding us, causing heat to rush through my body. I loved seeing it. It brought out a different side to Titus. It was like it showed all of him, bits of his features I had never noticed before. It was hard to explain, but it was beautiful; I was lost in him. We stopped dancing as I noticed Titus had a sad look. "Titus, what's wrong? Is everything okay?" I asked him while holding his hand. "Yeah, it's just a little crowded in here, that's all," Titus said, An idea popped into my mind. "Let's go for a walk, get some fresh air." "Yeah, that would be perfect. I know the right place with a great view." Titus smiled as he took me up the stairs of his home. We arrived at the balcony, and I saw the majority of the town of Avalon, the moon shining on the beach. "This view is breathtaking! How is one building so beautiful?" I looked at Titus, and he had a sad look. He leans on the ledge of the balcony. "Titus? Is everything okay?" "Yeah! I'm fine." Titus said. "No, you're not. Titus, please talk to me." I pleaded. "It's nothing," Titus said, raising his voice. "We should go back." I was quickly getting annoyed with Titus at this point. He is not talking to me. What the hell? Titus is my boyfriend. "It's nothing, Titus. Please tell me what is going on with you?" "I just, umm," Titus said nothing for a moment. "The truth is that I've been under a lot of pressure, and I have expectations to live up to, and I feel everyone is expecting so much of me. I'm scared that I won't be able to deliver on what they want from me." "Titus, I didn't know you were feeling like this." I hugged him. "I'm sorry, Aurora, I shouldn't have brought all this on you," Titus said. "Titus, how do you think relationships work? I'm your girlfriend; I'm supposed to bring you up when you're feeling down. So, is this to do with the family business?" I asked him. "Yeah, something like that." Titus placed his hands on his head. "Well, this of it this way, if your father didn't think you were living up to everyone's expectations, he wouldn't have chosen you to take his place." I smiled. "Yeah, but unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. My father doesn't have a choice; I am his. How can I put this? Aurora, I'm the heir to his business." Titus explained. "Well, from what I know, your father has another heir. Your sister, Erin." I said. "And if you were doing a terrible job, I'm sure he would've given it to your sister." Titus breathed deeply. "My father has considered that. I thought about dropping everything and leaving everything to my sister, but then I decided that I wanted to inherit everything. Taking over for my father is what I'm meant to do." "There is the Titus, I know," I said as I kissed him deeply. After a while, we both heard a fake cough into the kiss. "Titus." Said the man who interrupted us. "Father," Titus said with annoyance. I looked at the man who Titus revealed to be his father. Holy s**t, I have to act respectful quick. "H-Hello, sir." I "Dad, this is Aurora. Aurora, this is my father." Titus said, introducing us. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Black." I smiled, which quickly vanished as he said nothing, and glared at Titus, who glared right back. I wasn't going to lie. It was terrifying meeting Titus's father; they had the same eyes and the same olive-colored skin. His father was an inch shorter than Titus, but his build was as big. There was so much tension that you could cut it with a knife. I tried to keep my gaze from his as he looked at me with hate in his eyes. I watched as his jaw clenched; he could snap anything in his mouth if he wanted to. I felt Titus's body shift to stand before me, making me even more nervous. "Titus, take you," He paused and then looked at me. "Girlfriend. Home," he said mockingly. "Aurora, go and find Erin; tell her that I'm taking her home," Titus said while looking at his father. I said nothing and walked off to meet with Erin, but as I was heading downstairs, I heard shouting, but I didn't quite make out what it was. (Titus's POV) "You brought a HUMAN HERE! HERE IN THE f*****g PACKHOUSE!" My father yelled. "That human is my mate, and she has every f*****g right to be here," I screamed back at him. "Not when she can bring danger to the pack." My father said. I looked at him with shock and confusion. "What danger could she possibly bring!? "You don't know her well enough, son!" My father growled. "She's a human; we don't understand their species. You were meant to REJECT HER!" "The Moon Goddess paired my soul with Aurora's, and she is my mate. You would dare go against her highest laws, her divine decree. Tell me, father, would you have rejected mom?" I growled. This caught him off guard. "I will not reject her dad. I love her, and if I have to choose between her or the pack. I will choose her." I walked past my father by hitting his shoulder with mine. I went down to meet with Aurora to drive her home. The car ride was silent, and I didn't know what to say to break it. Before I knew it, we were at her door. "I think your father doesn't like me," Aurora said. "I'm sorry for the way my father behaved. It wasn't fair on you, and it has nothing to do with you. He needs to stop being so old school. Go inside your house and get some rest, Aurora; you had quite a night to remember. I will see you tomorrow." I kissed her. "Thank you, Titus, for inviting me tonight," Aurora said. "Of course, you're my girl. I'll see you at school, beautiful." Then I felt a sharp pain in my arm. I plucked it off my arm and saw that it was a yellow dart. "TITUS!!" Aurora screamed. I felt myself slipping into darkness. No, I'm about to force shift, and Jamie will be in complete control." I just turned into a White Wolf in front of Aurora. Oh, Goddess.
