Rejected By The Alpha

Still in my subconsciousness, for some reason, despite the drug I heard one of the generals telling the others to take us to the heart of the mountain. This is a part of the mountain where there was actually a full moon. Even during the day there was no sunlight there. The moon was usually at their fullest in such a way you would think you could touch it. This made it the ideal place for an awakening. It was referred to as the Nexus of the moon. This was because it was the pure source of the Moon's energy. The drug we were given was still active. Although i was not totally conscious i could hear the voice of the crowd outside. The clothes we were given or rather blankets were off our body. They covered us with it and took us to the Moon Nexus.

Even in my subconscious state I felt the happiness of being free. Finally the day I had waited for was here. I could finally escape from this horror life has given me. I would run away to somewhere very far away from the pack and live on my own. I was not the first to do this and it gave me a glimmer of confidence and that was all I needed.

I couldn't say for sure what was going on but I knew I was not totally unconscious. My vision though blur came and went like I was phasing through time. I could remember being carried and seeing myself on the floor. Now, I knew why my predecessors remained motionless during their awakening. The weight of the drug seemed not to be wearing off any time soon. I could hear the noise from the crowd. All they waited for was for the full moon to set. The moon was becoming more visible by the second as midnight drew nearer. Then, the sarheil was here. He is like a priest in the pack. His appearance also says the same.

Not long after, the alpha, Morel alongside his son, Ronnie and all his generals had arrived.

The crowd stands up as they enter to acknowledge the alpha as a sign of admiration until they all take their seek. The sarheil started the ritals to the moon. fires were set up all around us and we were all at the center. The drug we were given was very much active. I had always asked myself why people were always motionless during their awakening but now I know the answer. The moon had reached its apex. It glowed so bright that everything could be seen from a mile away. Just then something started happening and my whole body started burning. My complexion turned pale. I groaned in pain. My body down to my cell was destroyed and repaired at the same time. I screamed for help but got none, rather the pain accelerated. I felt like I had seen hell. I could hear the cracking of my bone turning in different directions. My blood red eyes couldn't hold back my tears. The pain pierced my heart leaving a hole in my. Despite all the pain, I felt apart if I was being taken and replaced and something else taking over.

While twisting myself, overwhelmed by the pain, I didn't notice that the fire set around us had already been blown out by a strange wind. The cold floor which had been freezing me was the least of my problems. After moments of rolling and twisting myself, I had sustained various cuts on my body. Some were mere bruises while others were deep. To make matters worse i was bleeding out and also now at the edge of the cliff. I wasn't in control of myself. i thought i was indeed caused. Was I going to be the first to die during my awakening? No one was going to help. Ronnie was the only one who attempted to help but was stopped. It was an abomination to cut off an awakening. The urge to stay alive jolted my consciousness. I was not going to give up now, So i stayed alive. I didn't pay attention to the overwhelming pain. I stopped screaming and just battled with the pain. I felt my bones taking different shapes. All the pain suddenly stopped. Not even a fraction of it was left. I opened my eyes but everything was different.The bizarre changes I noticed were strange.

Looking down, I had no hands. I now had paws. They were much bigger and stronger than human hands, about five to six times that size. On seeing this, I was excited. A lost part of me seemed to have been complete. I suddenly had some pride in me. The drugs that made me so weak seemed to have vanished from my new system because of my body’s metabolism. Looking around to see everyone, I saw their eyes were all over me. My heart gave room for fear. My mind raced a thousand miles to understand their reason. I wasn't the only one awakened today, so why are there gazes all fixed on me. The others were all grey in colour but I was different. I had a silver-white colour which was different but the white lining through my back made it a masterpiece. All other werewolves had grey fur but mine was different. I could feel the size and weight of my body had significantly increased. I tried to move but I was not used to using my hands as my front legs. This brought me to the ground. Just then I heard a voice in my head. “You have to move your legs because you have four”, it said with calmness. At first I was startled. I looked up to see where the voice was coming from and I immediately knew it was Ronnie. “How is this possible”? I unintentionally used my telepathic abilities.

From where he sat he gave a faint smell. “I will explain. Think of it as a phone without buttons. Since we can't form words in this form, we were given another way. Wolves of the same pack could hear each other's thoughts. It felt strange to have someone be able to hear your thoughts but this was one of the many things I had to get used to.”But what I don't understand is how I can hear you? we ain't even from the same pack. I guess when you are strong enough to control your body then we will find out.

My skull now was twice or even thrice my human skull. I got up from the place i was, my legs still trembling due to the change as a made dome steps. Just when I thought my body was now in order, I stumbled and fell again. I guess the body wasn't the problem. I just needed to accept the new form.
