CHAPTER ONE
"Miah, do you really want to do this again?. This is our best time to earn much to ourselves. Madam Gianne isn't around today." Miah sat up from where she was. Her mind was made up. She just needed this break and no one...not even some dollars could stop her. "Evelyn, I understand what you are trying to say but I am no way interested in this. I am sure Madam Gianne knows she can't find me here at this time anyway." She threw the last cloth in and took out her shoes. Her phone beeped loudly, disrupting the little silence that had settled in. She knew who it was already. She had to do this. She couldn't wait here any longer. "Miah, you wouldn't pick his calls too?." No response to her, She put on her jacket. "Even Rolly should wait?." Miah shifted her gaze from her bags to her direction. "Can you stop acting like you never knew me?. I would be back in no time. I promise." "You know you can't leave here, Miah. Madam Gianne would never let you go. I know what you are thinking. She never let anyone go and you can never be an exception." Miah scoffed. "I might really be an exception, who knows?." With a firm grip on her luggages, she strolled out. Maybe the air in her summer house would do her some good. _ "Why would you book a flight to Padre without my knowledge, huh?." Ronald asked. He didn't just understand what had been happening lately around him and he knew this could only be his mother's schemes at work. "Madam feels that you needed the vacation out of here and that's why it was arranged that way, Sir." He knew it. She could only be the mastermind behind the sudden arrangement. "Madam feels you should...and you didn't inform me or even get my consent about this?!." A knock at the door, Timmy walked in with a little girl, Aurora. She sped to Ronald's side and held him, tightly. "Dad, what's wrong?. I heard you shouting. You don't want to go to the island with me?." Ronald shot a glare at Timmy whose grin on his face went deeper. "You wanted to ask why I brought her in, right?." "Well, your flight would take off in 30 minutes and your daughter had been expecting for the past one hour. Your mum already told her about it and she consented to it." He looked at the guy before them. "Thank you, you may go." Ronald scrouched to his daughter's side. "Why wouldn't I go with you?. I am sorry I shouted. That guy deserved to hear it. Go pack your bags now." No questions from her but a smile, she trotted off to her room. "Ronald, give Aurora a break, will you?. That girl hasn't been out for months. I am sure she wanted to go out but she didn't want you sad and that's why your mum had to plan this. Get that stoned attitude off you. You should think about Aurora first." Ronald heaved a deep sigh. Had he been so into himself that he couldn't see his daughter anymore?. "I appreciate that but you and mum should stop interfering in my matters. I know what to do with Aurora and I will." "In this state?. I am sure Mirabel would nearly snuck the life out of you if she saw you living your life this way." Ronald turned. His gaze nearly tearing off his face. "Don't you dare talk about that woman here again!. Are we clear?." He picked his phones and walked away. That woman didn't deserve her name to be called near him...at all. _ Loud chatterings, inaudible voices across the ocean, faint giggles in the air, Miah knew her decision to come here was just perfect. No night drillings or risky biddings. She had to rest for a while too. Barely shutting her eyes to the world, she heard a little whimper. Why would her ears be so sensitive now? She just wanted to .... Another whimper again and she flipped her eyes open. A short distance from her, she saw a little girl trying to stand up from where she was but each time she does that, she ends up falling back to the ground. Miah stifled a laugh. When was the last time someone amused her this way?. In no time, she got up and walked up to her, with a smile plastered on her face. She wasn't this always nice. What was about this girl that compelled her so much? "Hi, little girl. You just have to take this sand off and your leg comes out easy." With that, she eased her leg off where she was and Aurora jumped up, excited. "Thank you, Mama." Ma..ma?. Miah took a step backwards. Does this little girl know what she is talking about? "Dear little one, I just thought to help you out. Nothing more. I am not your Mama. Go meet your parents now. They would've been worried about you." Aurora stood firmly where she was and this time, holding to Miah tightly. "You are my Mama. You are my Mama." She said repeatedly, as tears fell off her eyes. Miah sighed deeply. What had she gotten herself into this time again?. She just thought to have a time of her own and now, this? She scooped her up her arms. "We will wait here till your parents come, alright?." Aurora nodded and leaned her head on her shoulders. Walking back to where she was, she heard her breathing smoothened out. This girl is sleeping?! How could a child be so comfortable with a stranger this way? A little laugh escaped her lips. Her journey here was sure planned by someone's magic wand. A sigh again from her, she looked up at the sky. Had she made the right decision from the onset, would she be walking this path now? Had she succumbed to her aunt's wish, would she be here trying hard to navigate life?. Had she ....? Her thoughts were brought to an abrupt end as she felt a hand shook her terribly. She glanced up to see this man's glare almost piercing her flesh.
