Chapter 3

2014 Words
"But... We aren't in the lake." I frowned. He growled, and his eyes glowed black. I growled back and brought my wolf ahead so my eyes would resemble his. Disrespecting another pack member isn't exactly setting a good example, but I have no respect for him. I will be courteous and well behaved towards the rest of the pack... Just not him. "I don't know what your problem is... But you're in my pack, Lila. Do not disrespect me." He snapped. "Ok, Ethan." I waved my hand over my shoulder as I resumed my skating. He growled as he stormed off. "Mum, Ethan is on his way to speak to Alpha Mateo about an icerink in the middle of the pack, and maybe... About the way, I behaved towards him." I had to inform her in case she was with the Alpha and Luna. Although my dad will probably be itching to knock him out again, so I've probably done them a favour. I didn't back from her, and I knew what was coming... My dad.2 "A f*****g icerink, Lila!" Dad growled through the link. "Unless I have suddenly gained magical powers... It's not my doing." I chuckled. "But you should definitely come skate, dad." I burst. "My dad's coming," Damon shouted. The members of his pack started racing around like headless chickens. They were tumbling over each other, and I had to brace myself... So I didn't fall from laughing. I have never seen something so comical in my life. I wish I could have recorded it to watch back at a later date. "Why is the lake frozen?" Alpha Mateo questioned. I glanced at him and smiled innocently. "Levi and Elias were trying to cheer me up," I whined. I could see amusement in mum and dad's eyes as they stood behind the Alpha. If I use the innocent she-wolf act, he may pity me. "Elias, can you undo what you did?" He asked, looking at Elias and Levi. "Yes, Alpha Mateo." He replied, glancing at the floor. He started moving off the ice as Alpha Mateo picked up their little pup and stepped onto the ice. "Make sure the lake is back to normal later," He chuckled as he slowly pushed his feet along the ice. I beamed at him as Mollie, their pup, squealed in his arms as he spun her around carefully. Dad grabbed mum's hand and pulled her onto the ice. She giggled as he spun her around and back into his arms. I watched as all the mated couples joined us on the ice, and it suddenly didn't seem like a good idea at all. Eventually, the ice was full of mates who were skating together hand in hand, laughing and gazing into each other's eyes. I slowly edged away from the rink. A much as I was enjoying myself. I can't watch them all being all lovey-dovey, not when my heart feels like it physically breaking watching them. I sprinted in the direction of the Luna's house. I needed to be alone... I wanted to wallow in self-pity for a little while before I got my act together. This damn mate bond is giving me all sorts of unwanted feelings. I let myself into their house and rushed up the stairs to the room. I huffed and leaned against the door as it closed. I took long, raw and uneasy breaths until my breathing had reverted to normal. I forced myself away from the door and moved over to the window. I opened the balcony door and stepped outside. The fresh air did wonders for me. I inhaled deeply and exhaled in relief. The smell of nature flooded my senses, and I felt somewhat peaceful. "Where did you go?" Levi asked through our link. I sighed, moving forward to the balcony fence and leaned on it. "I'm back at the Alpha's house. Don't worry about me. I'm going to get an early night." I replied. Hopefully, my voice didn't waver, and he accepts that. "Do you want some company? Elias and I will come. Mum offered too." He linked back instantly. I sighed, leaning my forehead on the balcony bars. "I promise, I'm ok. I'll see you tomorrow, Levi. I love you, and thank you and Eli for the icerink." I linked back. "We love you, L." He replied. Hopefully, he should leave me alone now. I know he means well, and I love him for that. I breathed out and stared into the distance. Dusk was setting in... It's my favourite part of the day. When the sun goes down, the moon rises. I love gazing at the moon, especially when it's at its brightest. I inhaled and sighed happily. The scent from the hoodie flooded my senses. I lifted the hoodie and held it against my face. I pulled it down and inhaled again. My breath hitched in my throat as the wind carried the scent stronger towards me. I stared out into the distance and let out a breath as I saw two red blips deep into the forest. I shook my head and screwed my eyes shut before opening them again. The blips flickered a few times before disappearing then appearing closer to me. They were just outside of the pack border now, and I instantly knew who they belonged to. I leapt over the balcony, landing in a crouched stance with one hand on the ground. I ran through the back garden, hopping over the little fence. I needed to get to the pack border... I know he's there. As I get closer, his scent gets more prominent. I ran as fast as my legs would take me; I was panting for breath. Once I reached the fence, I skidded to a stop and frowned. He wasn't there... I scowled at the fence... How the f**k am I supposed to scale that fence? It's huge. I took a closer look at the fence. I could see an electric current pulsing through the bars. Wow, they really are protected here... Maybe we need some of these. I huffed and scanned my eyes around. I don't know how I'm supposed to get out of here. I don't know where the entrance, exits or whatever is from here. I glanced back at the fence, and he was standing there, chest heaving... gazing at me. We were locked in a trance. Neither of us, backing down or looking away. I could see him clearly. He was f*****g gorgeous. I don't know what colour his natural eyes are, but if he wanted to keep his red eyes all the time, I wouldn't protest. His hair was black, and short and tousled, sat messily atop of his head. It looked so silky, and I wanted to run my fingers through it. Although he was gazing at me... His lips were set in a straight line, and I could see his fangs tucked behind his bottom lip. He spun on his heel to run, and I exploded... "If you leave... Don't bother coming back, mate." I seethed. Chapter 5 Alarix POV5 I can't focus. I can't stop my fangs from extending randomly. I can't sit still. I feel like I can't f*****g breathe. Ever since I saw her in the forest... She's all I can think of. I knew she was my beloved. I know it was foretold... That is all I know. My parents ordered me to leave after the seer began speaking. I was intrigued that a wolf is my beloved; my parents soon put a stop to that. They forbade it... They said I wasn't going to disgrace their bloodline with a wolf. I know what happens when you don't listen. Her wolf was stunning. She was bigger than I expected, not that I expected much as I haven't really seen a wolf before. But her human side... f**k, she was something else altogether. When she jumped out at me, I couldn't believe it. I knew she hadn't taken a chosen mate. I could smell her innocence which only f****d with my head even more. My father told me she would... ′A werewolf will not accept a vampire into its pack... She will take a chosen mate.′ Obviously, he hasn't got a clue. She's real. She's mine. She's my beloved, and I f*****g ran away. Hearing her broken howl brought me to my knees. I had to go back... I had to speak to her. I wasn't expecting to find her... Naked, hiding under a tree. Talking to her was out of the question. I knew if I heard her voice, I'd claim her there and then, and that can't happen. I grunted and picked my jacket up from my bed. I need to see her just one last time... I'm fast enough I could get away without hearing her voice. I pulled my jacket on and walked out of my bedroom. "Alarix..." Celeste tutted, shaking her head. "Don't start, Cel." I groaned. "Oh, baby bro... I hoped it would have been different for you." She smiled sadly at me. "Listen, you should feed before you go to her." She whispered. I told Celeste as soon as I found her. I didn't know what to do. So, I sat in my sister's room, crying on her f*****g shoulder. She knows exactly how I'm feeling; she understands the pull. I know she wouldn't tell our parents and I'm glad I have someone to talk to about her. She spun me around and pointed down the hallway. I followed her finger and groaned. A woman was leaning against the wall with her back to us. "She is here for Athan... But you can have her. She knows why she's here, and she's willing." She murmured. I hissed, spinning around. "You know I don't feed on humans," I snapped. "Athan can have her... I'm sure he'll be happy with her." I grumbled. I watched as Athan, my brother, stepped out of his room completely naked. I rolled my eyes as I heard the woman make an awful moaning sound. He winked at us before leading the woman into his room. "You know you will be stronger if-" I growled, and she pressed her lips together. "I'm just thinking about you, Rix." She sighed. I nodded and groaned. "Try and stay away from her... If mother and father found out, I'm afraid for yours and her life." She whispered. "I need to see her again, Cel. The bond is eating me up on the inside." I whimpered. She nodded sadly at me. I know she understands, and I know what she is saying is true. If mother and father knew I'd found her... If they knew I was longing for her. They would kill her. I would rather live without her by my side than live without her.1 They killed Celeste's beloved. He was a human, and Celeste marked him. When mother found out, father killed him in front of Cel. It nearly destroyed her... It still does haunt her. Celeste gave me a quick hug before she sauntered down the hallway, probably back to her meal. I refuse to feed on humans... I wasn't always like this. When I turned eighteen, Athan gave me a female to feed on. I was excited... Far too excited that it didn't end well. I regretted it instantly, and I refused to sink my fangs into a human again. The clan doesn't get it... They find it strange. They're just humans; they don't matter... but I find them fascinating. I love how dysfunctional, how selfish and needy they can be. They make me feel... Normal. Like the woman who is now Athan's meal for the next few days... She will stay here, get fed on, probably f****d until she can't walk and then she'll crawl out with money. I can't and won't. I only feed on animals. I'm not as strong as I would be if I fed on humans, but animal blood has kept me going for seven years.
