Olyvia POV
My eyes grew wide at the tone I used with my mate,’Don’t be so surprised, you have more power in you than you think. He kept you from getting hurt more and even protected you as much as he could. Mate will understand.’ Mia tells me. “Okay, we can speak with my parents tomorrow on initiating them into the pack.” he tells me as the driver begins to take us to our destination. “The witch did more than you realize in helping you my princess.” He tells me, chuckling at my confused look. “I fell into a coma shortly after you disappeared, and she came to me in my coma. That’s why it took so long for me to come for you and I am so, so sorry. She came to me once more after I awoke from my coma and told me you were closer than I think, which is what caused me to find you. I was hoping you would agree to either offer her to join the pack, or request she stay within pack lands as a thank you for helping as much as she could. I am thankful that the guard who helped you is her mate as it makes transition easier, though longer.” “Why longer?” I ask, confused about the strange way things are handled. “Because even though they are a unit, they are not of the same species. That causes minor complications because it is rare for us to have a mate outside of our species, in order to link someone of another species to our pack we must do a handful of things first, which we can talk about with my parents.” He says before kissing my hand, “Tonight is for us, we are almost there.” Looking out of the car window I see a large restaurant that I recognize. I feel my chest tighten, knowing that it will most likely have many people. “Calm down my princess, I reserved an area only for us. I wanted to treat you and have a romantic evening, so I made sure that we had as much time, and as few people as possible.” He tells me while rubbing his thumb across my hand. Tears prickle my eyes at his thoughtfulness. “Thank you.” is all I can get out without my voice cracking. Softly, he runs his thumbs under my eyes as he kisses my head “Anything for you.” he says softly before bringing my forehead to his. “Will you tell me what happened while you were there? It doesn’t have to be today, or even anytime soon, but one day will you?” He asks me softly, looking into my eyes. ‘Tell him yes. He needs to know and if it is too much for you, I can take over and tell Jax’s wolf. That way his wolf can tell him and I can meet his wolf.’ Mia says softly, obviously taking care to help me feel better. “Tomorr.” He says smiling at meow can we go to the river and have a picnic?” I ask him, seemingly changing the subject. “Of course, as long as the doctor clears you.” He says, smiling softly at me. “Can we talk about it then? Mia may have to take over and she likes the river.” I ask him softly as the driver pulls to the door of the large, fancy restaurant. Jax quickly gets out, jogging lightly around the vehicle before opening my door. “May I?” He asks me with a slight smirk. “You may.” I say, taking his hand and allowing him to assist me out of the vehicle. Resting my hand in the crook of his elbow, he leads us into the restaurant. Seeing the tall, blonde and beautifully fit hostess I begin feeling insecure. She smiles slightly, gesturing for us to follow as she takes us to a completely empty half of the restaurant. Looking at Jax in shock I hear the hostess say “You may sit anywhere you would like, your waitress will be here shortly with some water to take your order.” with a smile before returning to her stand. “I told you princess, I wanted to treat you with as much privacy as possible.” He says as he pulls a chair out from the table of his choice. As I sit, I look out of the window seeing the beautiful view of the forest. I smile up at him knowing he purposefully did this to allow Mia some sense of nature. “Thank you.” I say as he sits. I fiddle with my fingers a bit as I don’t understand the menu, I’ve never been somewhere this nice. “Do you know what you want or would you like me to choose something for you?” He asks me, taking my hands and breaking my concentration on them. I look up at him slowly, “Please?” I ask in response, receiving a smile and small chuckle. “Of course, how has Mia been?” he replies, causing me to smile at his concern for her. “She is okay, she’s been a bit secretive but even through my curiosity I know she deserves to have them as I have had secrets from her before.” I tell him, he nods in understanding. I look over quickly, slightly panicked, hearing footsteps of our waitresses high heels. Upon seeing her my stomach flips in disgust and Mia growls lowly in my mind. Jax notices my discomfort, following my gaze to our waitress. He rolls his eyes in agitation as he sees her, her clothes looking as if her dream job was a strip club. Her top cut so low her breasts are almost spilling out, and her uniform skirt pulled up so high that it barely covers her assets. Once she arrives, Jax is quick to request a more appropriately dressed waitress. “Please go find someone who isn’t trying to prostitute herself to customers.” Staring at him in shock before huffing and retreating back to where the other waitresses are whispering softly to each other. Jax scowls at the way she dressed so obnoxiously, obviously feeling as if she disrespected me. “Breathe.” I tell him, looking to the new, older waitress walking up. “Hello, I deeply apologize for your previous waitress. I am the manager here and I will personally be taking care of you. Please, tell me your choice of wine as compensation.” She says sincerely. “We will take a nice red, thank you.” Jax says with respect. The rest of dinner went exceptionally well, but once we reached the packhouse I had to return to the medical wing. Jax escorted me to my room before signaling a nurse to call for the doctor. “So while you were gone, I went over all of your tests. I want to do one final scan in the morning.” She says as Jax hands me a set of pajamas to change into. “Can you check for anything that would prevent her from shifting as well? I’m sure she needs a good run.” Jax asks the doctor as I change in the bathroom, thankful for werewolf hearing. I smile as I hear the doctor’s response, “If the final scan shows what I’m suspecting, she will be fully cleared. I will speak more once she returns.”
