Chapter 25: To my next destination

Waking up in the morning. I immediately fix the bed and wash my face. I then go to the kitchen to prepare my breakfast. I fry eggs and use the leftover rice yesterday and make a bowl of fried rice. I also cook some sausage and lastly one glass of milk.
That’s usually my breakfast every morning.
I’m living more than a month now in this city called Elesis fort.
Even though many things happened and the city is destroyed because of the demon commander’s unexpected attack. The city stands tall and rises.
The people are starting to accept the tragedy that happened that night.
Time for quest hunting again. I wonder what kind of quest is available in the guild right now? I want to clear a grade B quest this time.
Because of the beast's manipulation ability, Eriko uses it in the forest. Most of the monsters in the forest died and only little monsters and slime’s left. For hunting slime’s the quest is normally grade D and has a low reward, because it’s just an easy quest.
All the quest in the bulletin board is all in D and novice adventurers get them quickly. The moment I arrived there. No quest is available anymore.
Some King slime appeared but they are very rare. My experience points bar is not even moving an inch. My level is stagnant too, at this rate I’m not going to defeat that demon if we meet again.
It’s hard to say this but, I might move out of this city.
It’s hard because these people already helped me a lot. But if staying here will mean being useless. I guess I have no choice but to live in this place for good.
Leaving my house I turned my head beside my house.
Normally there is a house beside my house own by my friend Meily. The house is destroyed in the tragedy and it’s already cleaned up. All I see is this vacant lot with nothing on it.
“I guess, I’m really living.”
I muttered.
I then, go to the guild and asked for Captain Yuri. As I enter the guild I immediately saw Rin, Marry, and Mello.
“It’s Mayu.”
“Hello, Marry.”
“Mayu you’re growing up so fast, I can’t believe it.”
Rin said.
“It’s just an evolution, looks like an elf is not like humans. Like monsters, we can evolve. Still, I’m worried about evolving too much.”
I said.
“Why is that?”
“If I reach level 150 does that mean I will evolve into an old elf woman? I can’t fight with an old woman’s body. I don’t like it!”
“That’s fine, all-woman is afraid of getting older. Honestly, I’m turning 30 and I still never have a boyfriend. My beauty is at its peak and if I grow older this will fade little by little. I need to hurry up and date someone as soon as possible.”
Marry said and started crying on my shoulder.
To think Marry is turning 30 this year is surprising. She has the appearance of a young girl in her twenties. I guess, no one will find out her true age.
Mello then serves me a juice.
“Oh, thank you.”
I said to Mello.
“Cool you’re head Mayu, all elves are all beauties, no matter how many times they evolve. Elves are different from humans, the elf has a different life span and some elves that master the magic manipulation in their body can even live like an immortal. Honestly, I’m envious of you.”
Mello said.
“Why envy me?”
I mean being immortal and living for a long time is very sad right?
That means me being alone forever is guaranteed.
I then take a sip of the juice to serve to me.
“Then what are you planning to do Mayu?”
“I came here to talked to Captain Yuri. I’m planning on leaving this city.”
“Eh?!” 3x
All of them were shocked after hearing my words.
“Why are you living do you hate me?!”
“Why?”
“You don’t like the new clothes I make for you?”
They put their face too close, I’m feeling uneasy. I pushed them out of my way and talked.
“That’s not it everyone, I’m very thankful and I wish to live here normally. I just wanted to be stronger. The moment I face that demon again. I wanted to defeat her with my own hands.”
This is really selfish because I know these people care about me.
Captain Yuri arrived and join the conversation.
“Then you can go. It’s for good after all. You will become a strong adventurer that you’ll be proud of. I’m proud of you for having a vision in your mind. Meanwhile, these three after many years don’t even have a vision of helping me with paper works. What the three of you doing in the guild. We lots of work to do.”
The three adventurers immediately run and go back to their respective work. Leaving only Captain Yuri and me.
Captain Yuri then gets a small bag and put it on the table.
“You can have that money Mayu.”
“What? Don’t worry about it. I still have money. I have some savings.”
“Just accept it, that will help you in your journey. This world is very vast and dangerous. Demon king army is currently invading the continent even the strongest country Grandellia is in pinch. Even I need to leave this city and leave the est to those three. I was asked by my old friend to join their squad to defend humanity in demons invasion.”
I see, that’s why Captain Yuri is working hard these following days. She even starts training those three to replace her.
I’m always hearing the country of Grandellia, but I never know what it looks like. It’s the country where Retto came from. They hate elves but I can do something about hiding my true identity.
Recently, I obtain the skill of transformation.
It’s a skill to transform one body. My current middle school body can transform into an older version of myself now. I can’t really transform into another person but I can at least make myself taller and hide my pointy ears.
“I’m planning on going to Grandellia.”
“Why there?”
“I have to meet with my friend there. Reto can teach me how to raise my level and became stronger.”

I then make a smile of relief.
I’m worried about Retto after all. We build a house base in the dungeon and live in the dungeon together. Of course, I care for him, still not in a romantic way I guess.

Captain Yuri said and order her drinks.

Well, I did have that ability called . It's an ability that always maxes my cuteness in any possible way.

I said and cry.
“Don’t cry Mayu, your cute even without that ability. I can say that because I’m a girl. Cute charm only attracts creature in a different gender.”
That said does that means the king slime that appeared before was attracted because of me. That king slime wants to do something on me. Thinking about those kinds of things is not really healthy for my mental health.
I can’t help it, even for me who live like a pretty high school girl. I never experience love because of my seriousness. Sometimes I’m wondering what loves feels like.
“I wonder if Retto will like me…”
“Don’t worry if Retto likes little girls then you're going to pass without breaking a sweat.”
“Did I say it out loud!”
“You said it, you like Retto. You want to have a lovely dovely training session together. Then after that going to the shopping district and have a date. Then both of you will have a goodnight kiss together.”
I’m blushing with embarrassment.
“Wait! I didn’t say that!”
I protested.
“Even without saying it, it’s written in your face. I like Retto and I want to see him. Good thing you have transformation magic to aid you. You can transform into a normal beautiful maiden and get his heart.”
Those words encourage me a bit and give me some self-confidence.
Maybe being honest with what I feel is the reason I came into this world.

I then drink finish my juice.
After my little chat with Captain Yuri in the guild.
I go back home and started to prepare my belongings. I don’t have that many items to bring but still, this will be a pain while I’m traveling.

I see this is an inventory skill. If I put my head here and deactivate the skill, I guess, my head will be cut down.
I put all my necessities in the inventory with food that lasts in two weeks.
I wonder if the food I placed here will be spoiled. I need to check it every day to make sure.
My journey to reach Grandellia will begin.
But first where is Grandellia again?

A map of the continent appeared in front of me.
I saw a symbol that referred to where I am.
“Where is Grandellia?”
A route a pointer goes toward a certain place. From the opposite side of the map the Elesis Fort the pointer goes to the opposite end of the map called Grandellia kingdom.
“This continent is wide. But I won’t give up! I want to see Retto again.”
I said.
After that, I used transformation magic on myself. I grow myself and make myself a bit taller. I don’t want to become very tall after all, I also don’t like being very small. I also change my pointy ears o normal human ears.
“This looks good.”
Nothing much has changed in my appearance and when Retto saw me he can recognize me in a flash.
Everything is ready now.
Lastly, I need a good night's sleep to fuel my body tomorrow.
I slept earlier than usual.
