Chapter 26: Train of Dreams (Part 1)

Before I started my journey to Grandellia. Everyone came to say their beautiful farewell.
Rin bought me a smartphone-like she promised and give it to me before I left.
“Always contact me when you feel trouble. Also, don’t forget to be careful on your way.”
“Thank you Big sister Rin.”
“Gosh! You're so cute Mayu! I can’t believe this day will come. If you wanted big sister will come with you.”
Rin said and hugged me.
“That’s not happening, Captain is leaving we have work to do in this city.”
Marry then pull Rin’s ear.
“Ouch! That hurt! I know that please release my pitiful ears.”
Marry released Rin and Rin fall to the ground.
Marry then give me some lunch while I’m on my way.
“Thank you so much Marry. My journey to Grandellia will take time. This food will really help me.”
I said.
Marry hugged me and said:
“Take care Mayu.”
“Of course.”
I said and turned my back.
I don’t want to stay longer, I might go emotional If I stay a bit longer.
To stop my tears, I must go now.
Everyone became confused and called me.
“Mayu the way to the train station is there.”
Rin said.
“Huh?”
There’s a train in this world?
In few moments, everyone escorted me to the train station.
I feel embarrassed because I’m already living in this city for more than a month and didn’t know the train exist. I feel like I’m the dumbest girl in this city.
It’s not really my fault, this fort is big I don’t go out too much. When I go out I go to the forest and hunt monster. I didn’t notice this train exist.
Come to think of it smartphones exist in this world. Train existing is not weird.
To think that this fantasy world already has this technology is really amazing.
Sometimes it kinda takes off the fantasy feel, but it makes things convenient then, it’s all good.
It’s very awkward to redo our beautiful farewell in hugs, but Rin and Marry insist on doing it again.
I want to resist my tears from falling but they fall.
“I won't forget the good times I spend here, thank you very much.”
I said.
I ride the train and look at their faces from the window.
They are proof that beautiful kind people exist in the world.
If Meily manages to see this kindness, I wonder what kind of path she is now? Meily is a very good girl after all. But now I guess, she is happy with her mother in heaven.
Since Grandellia is very far away from Elesis Fort. I ride the train toward the city closest to Grandellia. The train is going toward the City of Axel.
Axel is a town known for novice adventurers. It’s also said to be the last town the demon king will attack.
Living in a peaceful town is really a good thing. When the time comes and I don’t have to worry about anything. Maybe I will go and buy a house and live a slow lazy life.
Living a NEET Life is the best!
“Oh, that mountain looks like Mount Fuji… It’s a perfect cone. I better take a picture of it.”
I then get my phone and use its camera to take the mountain pictures. After that, I open Marry’s lunchbox and take a picture of the food. Then because I’m bored I take multiple selfies.
This filter is cute, wait this one makes my face funny.
Doing this on a phone, I feel like I’m back in my own country.
After finishing Marry’s tasty lunchbox. I started to get tired and closed my eye’s and fell asleep.
While I’m busy catching some Zzz…
I started to have a dream. A dream I never expected to happened.

“Wake up Mayu.”
I heard a familiar voice.
Upon opening my eye’s I saw Meily.
“Meily.”
“What are you doing? We need to finish this report before the end of the day. Teachers will be angry with us.”
Meily said and get back in writing.
Seeing Meily I notice that she’s writing characters in Kanji. I then look around my room. This room looks like a normal Japanese school classroom. Meily is wearing a high school uniform.
I stood up and open the window.
I saw is tall buildings and sports clubs playing in the field.
“This place looks like Japan.”
“What’s wrong with you? Japan is our country. Of course, you’re in Japan. Stop being lazy and write the report.”
Meily said and pound my head.
Meily pull me back in the chair to help her in her task.
While writing, I started to have a headache and forget everything.
That’s right, I’m Mayu I’m living in Japan. Meily is my classmate. I’m living a normal high school life here. Currently, the teacher asks us for some reports.
My life is just like a life of an average high school girl. Meily and I joined the literature club and spend some of our free time there. Meily is so serious and one of the most intelligent classmates I saw.
The moment I leave the clubroom. A boy is standing beside the door waiting for me.
“Retto-kun.”
“Mayu-san.”
Retto said and carry Mayu’s belongings.
“You're so sweet Retto, Mayu is very lucky.”
Meily said.
“Eh? But Retto really is cold-hearted sometimes and rude…”
I said as she looks into Retto’s eyes.
“... But still very sweet and caring at the same time.”
Retto averted his eyes and his face became a bit red.
“Don’t say such a thing in front of you’re friend it’s making me feel awkward.”
The three hen started walking together. Before they go home they stop in a shopping district to buy something. They also went on a food trip together. I take a picture together.
Meily was first to leave after getting a call from her parents.
“I’m sorry but I need to go home Mayu.”
“It’s fine, lets have fun again sometimes.”
After that, Retto and I started to have time together.
“What do you want to do Retto?”
“I want to love you?”
Hearing that make me blushed.
“Not that! Where do you want to go? Do you want to go on karaoke or play games in an arcade? Something like that.”
Retto looks up in the sky and decided.
“I want to walk with you. Just walking with you is fine. No matter how long it was.”
“You're such a romantic guy Retto, but I didn’t dislike it. Come to think on it we’re going to graduate next year. What is your plan?”
I asked.
“I’m going back to my country, my parents said that the education system in my home country is not that hard to compare to Japan. The education system in the Philippines easier than in the other countries. There I will learn English and study at a computer school. I’m going to be a computer scientist.”
Retto said.
Mayu averted her eyes and look to the orange sky. Mayu is currently acting dejected. She is sad that Retto is leaving after one year.
“Why not stay here? The education system in Japan is superior compare to the Philippines. Here we can go to a party like those college students these days.”
I suggested.
“You know that I’m not that kind of man that drinks alcohol. Besides education here is very expensive. I’m self-supporting myself. Even I kill myself in part-time work here. That might not be enough in school fees. Expenses are not that high in the Philippines, college is nearly free. Studying there is the right choice for a poor man like me.”
Retto said and continue to walk.
Mayu stopped walking.
“When you leave me, I will find another man. I’m so cute many guys will like me immediately. I will date another man. I’m going to forget you.”
“Mayu… I’m sorry, the current me can’t do anything. I need to leave, it’s for good. If you happened to date another man, then I will wish you happiness. But always remember that there is an i***t that leaves his super-cute girlfriend alone to become a computer scientist. That i***t will always love you no matter where you are.”
Mayu hugged Retto from behind.
“Are you really sure about leaving your super cute girlfriend?”
At that moment it feels like time has stopped and only the two of us are living in this world.
If I lost Retto at this moment I feel like he's going somewhere else. I feel like someone will take him away. I don’t want to let him go.
I tighten my hug and cry behind him.
“Don’t leave…”
“We still have one year, lets make many wonderful memories before I leave.”
“Don’t leave… Retto, don’t leave me… don’t leave me…”
…
Back on the train.
I’m currently sleep-talking.
“Don’t leave me Retto.”
I muttered.
Currently, all of the passengers in the train including the train attendant and driver fall asleep.
All of them are dreaming about their lives in another world.
