Chapter 61: Demon Realm

Dead trees, ominous sky, and cold breeze of wind. That’s how I describe this place. The evil presence of a feeling of bloodlust was all over the place. The evil spirit in form of a ghost wanders around this dead forest.

Using my sword I was able to destroy them quickly and after defeating most of them. The lesser ghost spirit didn’t want to attack me anymore and flee. Of them to stop attacking, the traveler must tell them that they are stronger using their strength.

My name is  Hiyami Mayu. A girl reincarnated in this world in a form of an elf. I’ve faced many battles. Some are dangerous monsters, others are dangerous humans and especially demons. I lost many things in my life. I lost my first friends, my best friend, and my love interest. With a fear of losing more people, I decided to go away and set my own journey in finding my own path.

Now I’m in the place called the demon realm.

The demon realm or the dark side. This is where the demons and monsters are born. Some people called this place a nest of evil. Because of the simple fact that the demon king castle is located at the end of this land.

I came here to fulfill one of my goals. I wanted to face the demon king commander that drags my best friend Meily into darkness. I wanted to have to avenge her death and free my anger. If I’m able to kill Eriko. I might feel a bit better.

My goal is not that clear in my mind yet. My goal keeps on changing every time I met other people in this world. At first, I just wanted to find why I’m reincarnated in this world. The second one is to live in peace in Elesis fort. But that peace didn’t last long and tragedy happened. I set on a journey to meet lots of interesting people like Akane, Kaede, and lots more. I got caught up and started to think that maybe with friends I might do something great for this world.

But I was wrong.

I lost Kaede and I betrayed Akane’s trust in me. I promised Akane before to travel with her but I still go on my own.

Knowing that I know that Akane is very angry with me right now. After treating me kindly. I run away without any decent farewell words for her.

But I have reasons for myself. The moment I learn about the I already know that I will bring trouble on them. That’s something that I didn’t want to happen. I don’t want to cause them trouble. That’s why I travel alone.

Genesis bearers defy the laws of this world itself. The magic it produces is not normal. It’s magic from another dimension. I don’t know if it’s hell or heaven, but one thing is sure. This magical power is very powerful.

The news that the Heroes squad went missing suddenly on the battlefield might be a law-defying power of Genesis bearers.

I started a camp in the dead forest and rest. I the rabbit a caught and started cooking it.

Behind me, a giant demonic dinosaur monster appeared. The scent of the rabbit that I’m cooking might attract this monster toward me.

Normally I will think about the level and skill of my opponent, but now that I start learning using my genesis magic. I didn’t bother checking it anymore.

“Wind magic: Wind tornado fang.”

From both sides of its body wind tornado was created. The wind it produces is sharp as a blade. The wind blades then slice the dinosaur monster. It didn’t even get its chance to attack.

I accumulated experience points normally but it didn’t make me happy anymore.

I let out a sigh and then continue cooking.

After that, I then got a delightful meal and I get up and start moving. I don’t want to stay in this dead forest for too long after all.

I heard that in the demon realm some small villages of humans still exist. They are the humans that got thrown in this place because they don’t have the ability in using magic. They are called the forsaken people. They are discriminated against in the human realm.

No matter what age or era. The problem of discrimination still exists in humans.

As I continue walking. I reach a small village. The village was so silent. Looking around I saw a crowd of people who appears to be watching some kind of event in the plaza. With curiosity, I walked and watch what’s happening.

In there, I saw a human with a sword in his hand and a woman tie with ropes

The people-watching was looking to the grim expression of the woman.

“That’s what you get if you stole something to the lord.”

“It’s her fault.”

“She deserves it.”

The people muttered.

The happening must be some kind of public execution. The woman’s expression has death on its eyes. She didn’t even want to struggle. It seems like she already accepted her death.

But she muttered her final words.

“... Somebody helps me.”

The man then raised his sword and cut the head of the woman in front of the people.

“This is what will happen if you people didn’t obey the rules of this town.”

I feel a bit guilty seeing her die, but I have no right to stand up on something that I don’t have any knowledge about. People in this world see killing as normal. I saw it many times. Bloodshed is normal in these people. That’s not something that supposes to be normal.

In my eyes suddenly I saw a little girl crying.

“Help me! Help me! Help me!”

This is the white hellscape again.

Who is this girl? This is like how Noah contacted me. Is this another genesis link? With the genesis link, I was able to see memories or talk to other people with connections in genesis.

Does that mean this girl is a genesis bearer like me?

“It’s not!”

I turned my head and saw the woman with the same face as mine.

“You again… Who is that child? And why are you here?”

“You always look at me coldly… Even though ever just a same person…”

“Same person?”

“That’s right, I’m you and you are me… I’m just a more honest version of yourself… I’m created with all the pure feelings you have… That crying girl is not a genesis bearer. I can feel genesis bearers but that girl is not… But maybe she is connected in genesis. But does that have anything to do with us? I’m she is not a part of our goal. Why bother knowing her? Is that right? Myself?.”

“But that girl crying for help.”

“The same with the girl earlier. Why didn’t you save the girl killed earlier? Are you being a hypocrite? Acting goody two shoes is not that fun you know. You know it better than anyone Mayu. We’re always acting after all. Acting as a loner, acting tough in and looking down on others in the school.”

“No!”

I created a sword using my wind magic and s***h my other-self. She blocks it with one finger and looks at me with her crazy-looking eyes.

“It’s your choice… I’m just an observer after all. Are you going to save her? Or not? I don’t really care. No need to become so scary. You know that I’m more terrifying than you.”

A powerful gust of wind blows my body away from her.

“I’m living in this dimension. I have full control of genesis magic. You can’t win… Still, you can help that girl if that will make you feel better.”

I turned my head to the crying girl.

“Help! Help! Help! Help!”

The white hellscape disappeared and I go back to my world.

I then saw blood in my foot. A trace of blood footsteps appeared in my vision.

Just by seeing it, I know where it’s going. I know that it’s going toward the girl crying for help.

“What you’re going to do?”

“I will save her.”

I walked and followed the blood footsteps.

I’m not doing this because I’m a hypocrite. I’m doing this because this is the right thing. Childlike her supposed to laugh and smile like to others just seeing a  child being abused makes me feel sick.

“What is an elf doing in this place?”

Behind me, a demon appeared. A pitch-black demon whose eyes are glaring red. Looking closely it has a heady of a snake and the body of a tall human. Its claws are as sharp as a blade.

“Wind magic: Wind sword!”

I attack and s***h him with my wind-created sword. Even though I’m confident in the sharpness of my sword. My blade was not able to make a scratch on his body.

“My body is coated with black anti-magic scales. Magical property attack was immediately negated.”

“Sorry but I’m not your ordinary magic-user. I can also use real swords.”

I get a sword from my inventory and cut him. I was able to make a huge wound on its body.

“Intruder! An elf intruder!”

He calls for backup.

After that I found myself surrounded by demons. They all have weapons in their hands. They are all glaring at me like I'm some kind of prey to be eaten.

I don’t have much MP left can’t deal with these demons.

“Wind magic: towering tornado!”

I created a wind tornado and let myself fly up in the sky with it. Landing safely in a land a bit farther from my flying location. I continue to follow the footsteps leading to the crying girl.
