Chapter 62: In the border of Insanity

Following the bloody foot's steps leads me to a tunnel.
I walked down without cold hesitation.
Weird sensations crawl through my body.
My detection skill is not picking up anything making me feel more at ease walking in this dark place.
Using magic I created a small flame to light up my path. The path inside the tunnel is longer than I thought. It feels like it continues to expand itself as I continue moving forward. I refrain from running because I’m afraid if I lost my stamina in a major fight.
Still, somehow that little girl has some kind of connection to the genesis bearer.
The bloody footsteps then turned right and enter another tunnel.
I continue following it and suddenly my skill got negated. That means this place is an anti-magic zone. Skills, magic, and ability can’t be used here.
I can’t go back anymore I’m already here. All I need to do is pull my courage and help the girl in need.
The image of the woman crying for help earlier appeared in my head. The image of myself smiling toward me.
What is this feeling? It’s not a bit funny…
Walking I reached the little girl crying for help. She was sobbing on the floor. She is dressed in worn-out colorless clothes. Looking at her body that is full of injuries. I can tell that someone is abusing her.
“Help me… Help me…”
“Don’t cry anymore I’m here to help you.”
I offered my hand to her and she looks at me with grim eyes. Her eyes are afraid and full of fear. She sways my hand away from her and she crawls with using her hands away from me.
“Don’t come near me!”
She scarily screams at me.
While crawling I notice that her legs were cut off from her body.
“I’m here to help you. Don’t be afraid.”
I tried to comfort her by talking gently. But her expression and attitude are flipping upside down. She is looking beside her like someone is watching her. She is shaking and fidgeting. She’s acting like she has a mental disorder.
I make a single step toward her.
She hurried and grab dirt in the ground and throw it toward me.
“Don’t come near me! Don’t come near me! I don’t want to do it anymore! I don’t want to feel pain anymore! Leave me alone! Someone! Please help me! Help me! Help me!”
She continues to scream. She is fearfully looking at me. She is seeing me as a different person in her vision.
(Hahahaha… Do you really want to save this broken little girl? Mayu do you want to know what happened to her?)
The voice of my other self whispered to my ear like a demon teasing me.
Shut up, this girl needs to save…
(Then, how can you save a human who is can’t save themselves? That little girl is beyond broken now. No matter what other people do to her it’s useless because she is already insane. Talking to herself, screaming by herself, swallowed by her own delusion, and carry a tremendous amount of trauma in her mind and body.)
My other in my mind keeps on talking.
(You should know better, most mental illnesses can’t be cured. The example is you yourself. You have a delusion of you being a good girl, but you are not. No good child is willing to cut off her family to have a good life. You look down on those people who treat you kindly. You only think about the things that make you feel better. In other words…)

“Another genesis bearer like me come for a visit...”
I turned my back and saw a girl in her teenage years. You had black hair and white skin. She is wearing a sister's robe and clothing.
She said she is a genesis bearer like me. I should better have a chat with her. She must be dragged here with a genesis link.
“I come here to save this child but looks like she had trouble distinguishing fantasy and reality.”
“That’s normal she had borderline personality disorder…it’s a serious mental disorder marked by a pattern of ongoing instability in moods, behavior, self-image, and functioning. It’s considered to be the most difficult mental disorder to be treated in my times on earth… Also, I think she started having it because she is abandoned when she was a child. Well, I’m observing her and she hacked her own legs out of nowhere.”
“Observing her? Why did you stopped her or help her? You’re an adult here you should take care of children.”
“That child is not even my relative… besides she is already insane. I’m just looking out for her. I’m healing her injuries every day that’s why she is still alive.”
“Then you should do better.”
“Are you mocking me? Are you saying that you can save her? Then, I’m giving her to you. Go and take care of that insane brat.”
"You're abusing her.”
“She is just self-harming herself.”
She replied.
I then stoop up and with a low tone voice, I asked her.
“Then how did she get those saw to hack her own legs?”
“It’s for experimental purpose… I think.”
“Don’t fool me!”
With anger, I charge toward her with my wind magic. The Antimagic zone is not effective toward the genesis magic. Because genesis magic is magic from another dimension.
“Wind sword!”
“You don’t have time to talk aren’t you.”
Sister then makes a single step forward. The force she emitted was enough to push me back toward the sturdy wall.
“... My name is Jane one of the genesis bearers. I’m making my experiment about human brains. I’ve been conducting this for many years now. It excites me to see people shivering in fear and unpredictably doing things. It caught my interest. Insane people are the most unpredictable human after all.”
“S-Screw you!”
I charge toward her with my wind-created swords and started slashing her.
She continues to avoid my attack swiftly. After few moments she snapped her finger and created another force of energy that’s able to make me pushed back a little.
After that, she pointed her index finger up at the ceiling. Followed by that is my body getting slammed to the ceiling on tremendous impact.
My senses were whited the moment my head hits the sturdy rock ceiling.
Jane snapped her finger gain and deliver another force of energy making my body blasted down to the ground.
My body was buried in the ground. I struggle to crawl up, turning my eyes on her I asked.
“How did you do that?”
“I’m not hiding it but you can’t do anything even I told you… I’m using my genesis magic to amplify the sound waves created within my body. My amplified sound energy was able to push back people away from me in the direction I wanted. The sound created with my body like snapping was able to create powerful force enough to defeat my enemy… Not only that, the sound energy in my body can produce vibration.”
Jane started walking and with every step she made earthquake was felt.
“Earthquake?”
“Using my amplified sound I can create a vibration that can make magnitudes by simply walking… Are you still fighting me? I’m not interested in fighting you? It’s nonsense. I’m not gathering any results from it. Also, I’m not interested in you or Noah.”
“Noah also talked to you?
“Of course, she wanted to create another cataclysm and she wanted my help. Well, I’m planning on helping her when the time is right. But for now, I will continue experimenting.”
“I will save this little girl…”
“You’re still saying that… There’s no way you can save her now… I mean…”
Jane walked toward the little girl. Who is screaming and crying for help? The girl stopped after turning its glance to Jane. She crawls toward Jane and hugged Jane like she is the most important person in the world.
“... In this world I’m the only one who can really be with them… I’m already here! I’m already here! I will treat your wounds later. I also have a chocolate bar. It’s you’re favorite right?”
Seeing how she interact and how the insane little girl looks at her like she is her mother. Destroyed Mayu a lot.
“Are you brainwashing her?”
“Brainwashing ability didn’t exist here… She suffered abandonment issues… she doesn’t like being abandoned by the person she likes. She simply likes me and we already have a bond. If you’re wondering how it triggered Genesis Link. I guess it’s because she is my servant. They said all genesis bearers have their servant that will serve them… Don’t get the wrong idea I’m not abusing her… I’m treating her well. Just look at how cute is her face when she is eating a chocolate bar.”
I turned my eye’s the insane girl and saw her calmly eating. She turns innocent. But her body sure told them otherwise.
Not only that this girl this genesis bearer Jane is definitely the same. This girl is also insane.
(That’s because all of the genesis bearers are bound by insanity. That’s right Mayu, you are insane.)
Shut up I don’t need your words.
(I’m just telling you. Like I told you earlier. You can’t save her anymore. Now you are left disappointed. Not all good deeds resulted in good things.)
I healed my body and then turned my back to the sister and insane girl.
In my head, the genesis link happened and I saw the memories of them. Their tragic past and how they started living with each other. They both do something for each other the insane girl is making the sister interested and the insane girl is providing her love.
It’s hard to imagine but it’s the reality.
I get out in the dark tunnel and when I get out I saw many people die in front of me. The magnitude Jane made earlier seems to destroy the small town. The land is cracked and a devastating scene was only left.
“How beautiful…”
I muttered unconsciously.
