Chapter 43: Beast Tamer

The stars are shining bright and the red moon is still can be seen clearly with naked eyes. It’s the first time I saw this moon since I came to this world. I don’t know what it means, but as long it doesn’t bother me. I will continue to move forward.
Half a year since I decided to left Grandellia city. Half a year since I last met Akane. I still remember those eyes I saw from her at that time. She’s so worried about me, maybe because she really sees me as a real friend.
I feel like I regretted something in my action back then, I feel like I need to say something to her at the moment.
Training and defeating monsters at night became my routine. I defeat monsters near the city where I’m in to level up.
Even though I have an ability that makes my leveling faster than anyone. I still struggle to level up.
I already stop using transformation magic to transform myself. Don’t want to hide the fact that I’m an elf. There is some village that doesn’t accept me for who I am and discriminated.
But that became normal to me as I travel. I live alone sometimes sleeping outdoors. Some towns accept elves like me. I’m very happy for them.
I wish to stay in that kind and peaceful place, but I need to reach my goal.
My goal is to reach the end of this world. That means to destroy the demon king. It’s the very reason Kaede is summoned in this world. There are two ways of defeating that demon king. The first one is to level up into level 999 and defeat her. The second one is to find the creator and wish for her existence to vanish.
While training in the forest. I’m my vision I detected a group of monsters and one human. The human seems to be cornered and can’t do anything.
“Help… This place supposes to have a weak monster how is this possible.”
A small girl said. With a tight grip on her dagger, she attempted to stab the goblin monster. Goblin monster skin became hard when they reach level 30 and their physical ability also increase. Goblin is one of the weakest monsters in this world but they are very dangerous when they are attacking in group.
A cat-like familiar came to rescue its master from an upcoming attack. The cat was hit and then flew to the ground.
“Jewel!”
The cat familiar then lost its HP and turned into a small blue jewel stone.
“... Jewel… Jewel.”
The goblins then look toward the girl with a thirsty expression and the moment they about to attack her.
I used earth magic and made sharp spikes that pierce their hearts.
“Fire magic: Furnace.”
After my chant, the goblin monsters were then burned into coals.
I walked toward the girl.
She's having a beast as her familiar. I this she is a beast tamer.
“Sorry if I was faster I might save the cat of yours.”
She turns her head left and right.
“It’s not your fault, it’s my fault because I’m weak.”
She said with a grieving expression. She holds the jewel stone to her chest.
Looking at her makes me remember myself. I’m unable to protect those important to me because I’m weak. The thought that if I’m powerful enough things might not come into this.
I used a status check to the jewel stone.
“Don’t cry, young girl. There is still a way for you to reunite with your friend.”
“Really?”
“If you get the Flower of memories in the Eternal flower garden you can revive her again.”
She then looks away from my eyes with a sad expression.
“Eternal garden is a place full of high levels plant monsters. There no way I can go yet, but someday if I level up and got stronger I know I can go there and revive my friend.”
“You can only revive her within three days.”
The girl was in disbelief and continue to look at the jewel in her hand.
“My level is low, how am I able to see my friend again?”
I then use my index finger and then scratch my cheeks and think about it.
I know the feeling of losing a friend especially those friends that became close to me. I don’t want her to suffer the same pain I got through.
“Got it, let’s wake up early tomorrow and go to the eternal flower garden. I will help you get that flower.”
After hearing my words her eye’s brighten/
“Really? Thank you very much… Well, before that can you tell me why you help me?”
“Why I help you?”
“Well, most of the people want something from me. I don’t have any money for now. I can’t pay you anything, but someday if we meet again. I will pay you for sure.”
I patted her head and replied.
“No need for that… Just consider my help an unconditional one.”
I said.
After our meeting, we then go to the nearest city to stay for the night. Aspertia city is a small city situated in southwestern of the continent. It is a newly developed area containing modern buildings, houses, and is surrounded by forest.
“What is your name?”
“My name is Carla, I’m a newbie adventurer. I’m from Elesis fort.”
“Elesis fort… I knew people in that place. Captain Yuri help me a lot in my time staying there.”
“Everyone knows that captain is really nice. Then tell me your name it’s rude if I’m the only one who told my name.”
“My name is Hiyami Mayu.”
“H-Hiyami.”
“Just call me Mayu everyone calls me like that.”
“Okay… Mayu. Mayu, Mayu, Mayu, Mayu…”
“Okay, stop it I heard it already.”
She then smiled.
“I just feel like calling your name. It’s the name of my savior after all.”
Being called a savior feels nice. But still is it really okay to be called like that when I fail to save two of my friends before. I don’t really know the answer.
While we are walking, two adventurers approached us.
Carla was then frightened and hide to my back.
“Hey, Carla I heard that you left your party.”
“Come and join us! We want a new party member like you. We need a skillful adventurer.”
They then continue to pursue Carla, but Carla rejected them and replied.
“I’m not teaming up with you anymore, you’re just using me. For now, I’m staying with her. She is my new party member.”
Carla said in a cold tone.
The two hen turned their glance toward me with negative intention.
Those glares.
“I think we should be going now. I know you’re hungry Mayu.”
Carla then pulls my arm toward the near restaurant for us to eat dinner.
She orders some simple dinner meals of bread, meat, and milk for the two of us.
“Let me pay for myself.”
“No no, this is my treat for you. His is the only thing I can do for you. This restaurant has food regardless of its cheap price. Their meal here is really juicy you know.”
The waitress then places our order at the table. We both get our spoon and fork, then started eating.
While Carla is cutting her meat. I became curious and asked.
“Who are those guys that confront us earlier?”
“They are from the previous party.”
“Previous? They said you let your other party today.”
“I leave my current party because I feel like I’m being used there. They're just using me as their mascot character that will attract males. I don’t really want to boost about it but males always give me free potions and stuff.”
“Your so popular.”
“Don’t say it.”
Carla said with a flustered face and scratch the back of her head.
I think that’s unavoidable. This girl in front of me is really cute. Of course, she’s going to attract male adventurers. If she is born in Japan I think she can become an idol.
This meal is cheap but it’s indeed really good.
“For tomorrow I got some items to share o you, would you mind me, going to you’re room tonight?”
“Item?”
“That’s right, I will share some of my items with you. I alone and got some rare item that I can’t wield. I can also lend you some clothes with enhancement.”
The clothes that Mello gave me do not fit in my current self anymore. But looking at this girl I guess it will fit on her.
Those clothes can increase her vitality and resistance to magic and physical attack.
After eating, we then go toward what she’s renting for tonight.
I lend her some of my equipment to myself more powerful than usual.
But while we are busy looking for the right item for her.
My detection skill was triggered and I felt a presence of a man eavesdropping behind our room’s main door.
I quickly open the door and then saw the man. The man has a cloth covering his face and he's on the run in the hallway.
“Lightning clap!”
I clap my hands and then attempted to paralyzed him, but he used an item to block my magic and escape in the gust of wind.
“Who’s that? He's so fast…”
“I can’t leave you alone for tonight, no one knows who will attack you. I think there are many jealous people in you. That’s why they are doing this.”
“That’s scary…”
Carla was worried because someone might attack not tonight but in the following night.
“That’s why you need to be stronger Carla if your stronger you can definitely protect yourself in danger.”
I said.
Hearing my word Carla then clenched her fist and then with a high spirited voice she said:
“I will become stronger.”
