Chapter 16: Slime hunting

“Alright, this is probably enough…”
Rin said while we are riding horseback. With us is Marry the healer.
“Are they in this forest? Slime?”
I asked.
“Yes.”
Maybe you are wondering why we are outside together. After a chaotic day, I left the fort with Marry and Rin.
Because…
“You want to go hunt monsters!?”
“In the monster area?!”
Rin and Marry were in a state of shock. They don’t really believe me when I said that I came from the Crystal dungeon. I already got the title of dragon slayer and assassin. Looks like they didn’t have the skill of status-check. If they have that skill, I guess explaining that I’m strong is easy. That’s why I wanted to show them that I can defeat monsters.
“Yes”
I replied.
“No way! No way! It’s dangerous!”
“I know, but it’s alright I can use some magic!”
“But still…”
Said Rn and hold both of my shoulders.
I turn my head away and muttered:
“I want to know about myself.”
“Uh…”
“My memory is Hazy so I want to confirm some things about myself and I want to see what's around the fort… And also If I use magic I might remember something…”
I said in sad expression.
“Well, I’m quite interested in that.”
Said, Marry.
“What are you saying, Marry!?”
“Then…”
Rin then turns her glance at me and shakes my body again.
“But you don’t have to go somewhere dangerous. That’s right! What if someone comes here to get you because you’re a noble!?”
They're still thinking that? I already said many times that I’m not a noble. I already survive in the danger of the Crystal dungeon. I guess I can manage.
“You worry too much! I can protect myself!”
I replied.
“I’m really worried you know…”
“Also, you would come with me… would you?”
“Of course! I’m your big sister here. I can’t let my cute little sister alone.”
I was so happy at that moment.
“That’s great, In that case, let's go and play together Big sister Rin.”
I said in a cheerful tone.
My innocent face and smile make their heartbeat go fast. Rin and Marry were stunned because of my cuteness.
“Then it can't be helped… I’m her big sister after all.”
Said Rin while blushing.
“You awaken new complex Rin… I’m going too.”
Said, Marry.
And then that’s why we are outside of the fort.
We are currently in the Forest Monster Area outside of the Elesis fort. Together we wander around and look for monsters. Near the forest is the ocean.
Marry turned her eye’s to the wide blue sea and said:
“Now that I think about it, this is where we found you. So? Do you remember anything?”
“No…! Not yet!”
I flinched.
“I see, don’t worry…”
Marry then patted my head.
I really feel guilty, Rin, Marry, I’m really sorry for lying to you. I’m pretending that I have memory loss, but I couldn’t say it anymore.
If I said the truth that I’m a 17-year-old girl and from another world. Would they really believe me? I can imagine their shocked expression already. “You’re a liar!” “I don’t have a little sister like you.” I don’t like to hear that from them. They are very nice people after all.
They might pass out from shock.
For now, I’ll just defeat a monster and prove that I strong enough. I will gain experience points and level up. I don’t know why I’m reincarnated in this world but the fact of the matter is that I’m here.
How and why I came here… I don’t know why it happened but there must be a reason behind all of this. If I find the reason I’m curious about what’s about to happen. I’m sure I have to find out the truth.
“Hey, Mayu! Let's go.”
Rin calls me out.
“Yes.”
I said and followed them.
“Hmm… But now that we’re looking for them they’re not appearing. They're usually a lot of green Slime in this place.”
“Green Slime?”
“Yes, it’s a forest so there’s lots of green and brown slime here. You can find blue If you keep going deeper in the forest.”
I can’t really follow and I’m a bit confused. In Roleplaying game I usually play. Slimes are the weakest monster.
“What’s with the confused expression. Slime change depending on what they eat.”
“Really!”
“It’s a basic lesson adventurer teach in school. If you forgot that too, then I’ll give you a quick lesson.”
Rin quickly told me that Slime color depends on what they eat. That also includes their type. If a slime eats herbs. The slime will turn green and have Herb's ability like healing. If the Slime eats a poison mushroom. It will be turned depending on the color of the mushroom and have poison attributes. Also, once they change color. They can’t change to something else.
“I didn’t know that.”
Rin looked like a teacher for a second.
“There also legendary slime that no one saw. Very rare they eat metals and became silver.”
I saw in Roleplaying game is that the liquid metal slime that gives plenty of experience points.
While Rin and I are enjoying our discussion about the slimes. Marry started walking and saw one.
“Hey look… A slime appeared.”
“It… It’s really green.”
I’m hype.
I was really happy to see a weak monster because while in the dungeon all I see are scary monsters. This really caught my interest and make my eyes spark.
“Hey? Mayu are you alright?”
“I’m fine! Now let's enter the battle.”
I get my weapon. It’s a wooden stick I carve to become a sword. I use my smiting skill to make this.
[Wooden sword equipped.]
“Rin is it really okay?”
Said, Marry.
“No hard feelings but I’m taking you down.”
The slime just jiggles its jiggly body.
I charge on and attack it with my wooden sword.
I poke it with my sword as hard as I can.
The body is so soft and bouncy the wooden sword bounce back on my face.
“Ouchy!”
“Mayu!”
“Are you alright?!”
They yell with a worried voice.
“I never thought that it will bounce back.”
I said and attack once again. I continue to attack it with my sword and the sword continues to bounce back.
Marry is skeptical of my actions.
Lastly, I attack it again with all my strength. I bounce back like usual.
“I’m so tired.”
“No no no, that’s not really going to work Mayu.”
Marry said.
“Eh?”
“It’s so cute so it’s okay.”
Said Rin.
“Didn’t you say you can use magic?”
“That’s right!!”
I’m glad you asked, I almost forgot that it’s the main reason I came here. I’m here to show off my magic power to these people.
“It’s not really going to work, because slime is immune to physical attacks. That’s why you're sword stick can’t take that down.”
I see, my sword looks like a stick.
I see then this is alright.
So I really have to use magic… so what should I use> Fire, water, wind, earth. If I use to fire the forest might burn. The wind would probably weaken because we are in the forest. Water might be the right choice.
“One two… Lightning magic: Lightning strike!”
From my sword lightning bolt appeared and strike the poor slime into particles.
The lighting makes a huge impact and in the forest and makes a huge crater in the ground.
I was stunned.
“Hawa…”
I never think that a lightning strike is that powerful. I just level it up in curiosity while I’m in the house of Rin.
I turned my head slowly toward Rin and Marry that nearly caught in the lightning magic.
“Mayu can you please tell me the meaning of this…”
“Hum… Looks like I tried a bit too hard? I guess…”
I knock my head.
“Mayu?!”
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…”
“This child is really a noble… She just lost her memories but after seeing her magic I can really tell that she is noble. Have a huge pool of magic inside of her. Only noble and royal blood can do such things.”
Muttered Marry.
“Geez… No matter how you look at it. That magic is too much for just one slime!”
I know…
I really show off that I’m strong but they still think that I’m someone to be protected. Marry is thinking that I’m really noble. What’s going to happen to me if they prove that I’m really a missing noble. I feel that nobles are really important in this world somehow. Going on an adventure to find Retto and the others will be tough. I wanted to know what happened to them and go back to Crystal's dungeon.
“While using magic be careful next time.”
Rin lectured me.
“Yes.”
After seeing what I’m capable of, Rin and Marry decided to suspend our adventure in the forest.
This is a great experience. I now know that my lightning magic is really powerful. Lighting strike can be considered as powerful magic now. I guess I can one some high monsters with it.
“I have to report this to captain.”
Said, Marry.
Marry is quite serious after seeing my magic. What she’s going to tell the captain.
Before we ride our horse and leave.
A giant violet slime appeared.
