Chapter 22: Playful days (Part 5)

It’s midnight, I can’t sleep and my energy keeps flowing in my body. It’s me, Mayu again here. I’m living quite some time in this fort now. Because of all of those warm and playful days. I forget that I have a goal. My goal in knowing why I’m in this world and find my comrade in Crystal dungeon.
I’m being lazing these past days. All I did is play with kids do some easy adventurer quest to support myself in living.
I look up at the ceiling and have a deep thought.
“After this week-long Festival. I will travel and find my way to my goal.”
I said and close my eyes.
The moment I closed my eyes. I heard exploding sound not so far from my house.
“What is happening? Everyone should be on their bed and resting. There’s still festival tomorrow.”
I stood up and open the window.
Upon opening, I saw the big fire in the fort and adventurers fighting the monsters.
The Elesis fort is in chaos.
“What’s happening here?”
I then get my sword and run toward the city for rescue.
I then notice the clock and saw that it’s supposed to be morning already. The sun should be rising at any moment, but there is no trace of it happening.
Arriving in the city. The people are already running in fear. The happy time earlier in the festival is replaced by despair.
Low leveled monster breakthrough and started attacking innocent civilians.
“Wind s***h!”
I rescue a child who's about to be attacked by a wolf monster.
There are so many of them.
This fort should have a barrier that keeps those monsters from entering.

Meanwhile, Meily with her newly awaken power started attacking adults in the city. She firsts go toward the adult who always bad mouth her mother.
“Are you the one who kill my mother?”
Said Meily.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Denying? Then how about this…”
Meily gets one of her children and releases a magical beam from her hand and killed its child.
The mother tears flow and charge toward Meily.
“What have you done?!”
Meily then blasted the woman with another magical beam from her hand. The beam put a huge hole in the woman’s body and after that, she fell and die.
Meily continues to attack adults with her magic and killed them one by one. The whole city is in chaos. The knights don’t have time to respond.
I’m just short amount of time Meily killed 25 adults, 15 young adults, and 9 children. Her eyes are still raging with anger and even she killed people she didn’t feel anything.
“All of you should just die!”
Meily shouted.
It’s too late at that time.
I, Mayu arrived and saw Meily killing people with her own hands. Her eyes look different from what I saw while we are at the festival.
Her eyes are red and raging with anger.
“What happened?”
I asked.
“Mayu… Don’t come any closer, I might kill you.”
“Are you the one who killed these people?”
“This is revenge.”
“You throw your own humanity for revenge. Did you know what that means? That means you no better than a monster. You became a monster.”
“They are the monster for making our lives miserable! Crystal dragon slaying magic: Crystal dragon wing blade!”
A heavy gust of wind and sharp winds comes to hurt me.
Meily makes the first attack and then she followed it with another.
“Crystal dragon slaying magic: Crystal fist!”
Meily charges toward me and delivers a punch with a strength of a dragon.
I was blown away by a single punch, destroying houses and some steer lights.
“Are you for real? Should… We … Fight?”
I said as I look toward Meily’s face with a troubled expression.
As my sweat falls to the ground.
Meily put her hands in front of her and blasted me with the magical beam.
“Crystal dragon slaying magic: Crystal beam.”
What is happening? What’s happening to Meily? Aren’t we friends? Why the sweet girl I used to play with is killing people? This must be a dream. This must be a dream right? Meily?
I can’t even draw my sword. I don’t want to hurt my friend. I’m living in this fort for a month now and I started to have some kind of friendship with her.
Our time going to the forest doing the easy quest.
Our time playing around in the park.
The time I help you sneak out of school to play with me.
I’m supposed to be a 19-year-old girl, but when I meet you I feel like a child again. I wanted to play with you. I’m so immature, but with this body, I’m able to those innocent things again.
“I wanted to play with you again.”
I forget my main goal in this world.
“I wanted to see you.”
You became my best friend in this world.
“Meily we’re not supposed to fight right?”
Tears started flowing to my eye’s and Meily still came to attack me. I can’t even afford to hurt her.
Meily started to shed tears.
“That’s why I said you get away from here right? I don’t want you to see those things. I already killed people, there’s no way going back. I wanted revenge for my mother. Mother was killed by these stupid adults.”
Meily said.
Meily is on an emotional roller coaster and she can’t handle the stress anymore. She breakdown and cry on Mayu.
“Lainy is killed?”
Meily nodded in response.
She really loves her mother, Meily can do anything just for her mother. That’s because all she has is her mother.
“Don’t worry, I’m not really angry with you. You're still my friend. I will always be at your side.”
I said.
Maily’s face turns red and hugged me.
“Don’t promise anything if you don’t have any capabilities on doing it. You're just going to end up being hurt in the end.”
The demon girl said.
“Who are you?”
I asked
“It’s the kind girl that heal my mother.”
“Kind girl…”
The demon girl then talked.
We heard someone clapping behind us and as I turned my head I saw a girl with a black robe and a short haircut. Her eyes are scarlet red and she has pair of horns on her forehead.
A demon?
“Meily you're doing great, as a vessel of Crystal dragon magic. You really amazed me and control it like your own in a short amount of time…”
Judging the way she talked, it seems like she’s the one that gives Meily this incredible magic power.
Just looking at her face, I can say that I won’t trust this creature for the rest of my life.
“ I heard your heart-warming words earlier and my heart is moved. I never heard such emotional words for a long time. Because of that, I wanted to hear those words more… Meily contract activated.”
Eriko activated the contract she made with Meily in exchange for healing her mother.
The contract is to become Eriko’s assistant. Eriko can order around Meily and do anything she wanted.
Meily’s eyes became hollow and lifeless.
“Meily kill your little friend.”
“Yes.”
Half of Meily’s right arm transforms into a dragon-like arm with sharp claws. Scales then appeared on half of her face.
“What are you doing to Meily?”
“You have too many questions, If I were you I’m going to focus on saving my own life.”
Eriko said.
Meily suddenly appeared in front of me at a high-speed and throw a punch.
“Meily wake up!” That demon is just controlling you!”
I scream.
“Crystal dragon’s destruction breath!”
From her mouth magic beam was released and destroy a huge part of the fort.
At first, I was able to endure all the damage Meily given to me, but the moment I saw my HP going down my blood started to race.
Meily continuously attacks me with magic.
I don’t want to die. It’s a normal human instinct.
Am I going to die like this? Am I going to die without doing anything? I’m so useless. I’m so useless. I’m selfish. I just want an easy life.
When things go wrong. I can’t do anything. Just like in school, I can’t do anything when the girls started bullying me.
Living just to survive, is not really enough. “Surviving for what?” should be the right question. Just why in the world I’m living here.
Meily is still on a rampage and she is destroying anything in her sight.
She became a monster.
“Help us, big sister.”
“Help us Mayu.”
“Help us.”
I heard the voices of help and as I turned my glance I saw the familiar faces of the kids in the adventurer school. It’s those kids that always want to play with me at the start but got bored in the middle.
It’s those kids that always smile and don’t think of any problems.
These innocent kids are the future.
I must protect them.
“Sword skill: Cut.”
With my sword, I cut down Meily’s stomach.
Meily still was able to move.
I finish it by stabbing my sword into her body. Meily started to have rapid breathing, her skin is becoming pale. Lastly, her eye’s started to fall.
Her face goes back to normal and her final words.
“Mayu… I’m sorry…”
Her body then falls.
Eriko then arrived at the scene and said:
“She just dies like that, I was thinking of bringing her back home to demon castle. She is quite rare what a waste of potential. More importantly, I’ve moved again. This is really entertaining. This experiment. What’s the feeling of killing your own friend? Is it nice? Is it bad? What is the feeling? Tell me it’s for the sake of my experimentation.”
Eriko’s teasing goes to my head.
“Lightning magic: Lightning strike!”
A bolt of huge lightning suddenly struck Eriko’s body.
“Fire magic: Pyro Ball!”
A huge ball of flames was cashed to Eriko.
“Earth magic: Stone edge.”
Stones from the ground came to pierce Eriko’s body.
“Water Magic: Water dragons roar!”
A giant water dragon appeared and bite down Eriko.
With those magic consecutively thrown to Eriko. Eriko’s body was blown toward the forest.
“Wind magic: Tempest!”
Tornado then cut down Eriko’s body.
Eriko was still alive after that and smiled.
“Wow, I never thought a little girl has these potentials.”
Eriko looks toward Mayu and uses a Status check.

Eriko was shocked at what she saw. She never thought that Mayu has these incredible skills and abilities within her.
“What is this skill? Just who are you? Genesis bearer? What kind of Title is that?"
I attacked her with my wind magic.
“Wind s***h!”
“Bood manipulation.”
She counters my wind s***h with a sword made of blood.
With a raged face, I walked toward Eriko and with my sword in my hand.
I promised that I will slay this evil creature.
