Chapter 19: Playful days (Part 2)

I don’t know how everything turns out like this.
“Mayu, don’t let the ball hit you!”
Shouted Rin whose currently on the bench.
“Why I’m doing this extracurricular activity? Also, This place is full of children…”
They all thought that I’m in the same age as them. These children in the adventurer school. Still, I don’t like losing.
I guess I’m not mature enough to be qualified as an adult in this world.
(Adult in his world are age 15 and up. I’m currently 17 years old in this little elf girl body.)
Earlier, Captain Yuri visited my house with Marry and Rin. They told me that they need my help and only I can do it. I prepared my self thinking it’s some sort of monster but I was wrong.
I’m asked to play with his kids in adventurer school. They are in age 6 to 10 years old and we’re now playing dodge ball.
The kid throws the ball toward me. I avoided it with ease. I can use detect skills after all.
“This time I will hit you!”
He then throws the ball again.
“This time!”
“This time!”
“This time!”
At first, we are enjoying the game. But as time pass, the game started to become boring. The high-spirited mood earlier is now replaced with a boring mood.

As expected to me who don’t like losing. I win every game in dodge ball until these kids don’t want me to join them anymore.
They are all left with boring expressions and unsatisfied eyes.
“You’re a cheater.”
“You’re cute but you're a cheater.”
“Too bad I what to be close with you…”
They said and leave.
Well, a have nothing to say this is good for both parties.
“Don’t be sad, don’t worry Big sister will play with you until the sunset.”
Rin said to cheer me up, but that’s unnecessary because I don’t want to play after all.
Sitting down on the bench with Rin. I look toward the wide blue sky with an optimistic view of the future. Things are going normal and I started to hang around with the people here. Technology doesn’t exist in this world and staying in a house is boring.
I sat down beside Rin and drink some canned juice. I then look toward the can.
“This world is already capable of making cans. The technology here is not that bad.”
This world already has instant noodles, canned products, vending machines,s and machines that make people's daily life easier.
Turning my head to Rin I saw her taking a picture of herself with me.
“Smartphones also exist here?!”
I said with a surprised tone.
“You don’t have a smartphone yet, when I got my salary I’ll buy you one.”
“It’s destroying my fantasy feel.”
“Fantasy feel?
Rin is confused.
Maybe the idea of fantasy in this world didn’t exist. Because magic and technology coexist without trouble.
I go back drinking my juice. I notice a lonely girl passing by.
That girl is my neighbor and my friend.
“Meily… The kids don’t like to play with me anymore. I guess I’m leaving.”
“Well, you just wanted to play with Meily aren’t you?”
“I’m not a kid anymore. I just want to have a chat with her.”
“Not being honest with yourself is bad.”
I leave Rin on the bench and chased Meily.
I called her out and wave my hand.
“Hello, Meily.”
“Mayu…”
“Why you're not playing with kids? You're attending this school right?”

Meily looks very uncomfortable and stays silent.
I heard that Meily is not doing well in school. She doesn’t have many friends and always alone. She’s like me back when I’m still in my world.
I know the suffering and feeling of castaway people like her. Because I’m also like that before.
“Look that girl is always dirty.”
“I saw her mother flirting with the vegetable shop owner.”
“That b***h is a p********e before… That’s why Meily never saw her father. Her mother won't even know who is the father of her child.”
“That b***h has time to flirt while her child is working so hard. I feel bad for Meily.”
I noticed the crystal-like stone in Meily’s pocket is glowing violet.
Meily hearing the gossips. Her expression became enraged.
She then gets a small rock and throws it toward the woman’s head.
“That hurts!”
“My mother is not a b***h! She is the kindest and most caring grown-up I have ever seen!”
Meily protested and get another rock to throw.
This time I use my wind magic to destroy the rock before it hurt a person.
“Mayu…”
“Hurting people is not right. Just ignore them, their life is so boring they started putting their nose to other people's life.”
I said.
The gossips look at me like trash and disgust.
I smiled at them and get Meily’s hand and run away.

Moments later.
“You don’t have to do that.”
“Hurting is bad, violence is bad. No matter what happened violence is not the answer.”
“... Eriko told me that, Humans are supposed to be equal, and looking down on each other and putting social hierarchy is pointless. She said the moment you're born, you must fight for your goal. That’s why when people look down on me, I don’t like it. I can’t ignore it. Just who they think they are. They should just die.”
Meily said.
I was stunned by what Meily said. She is just 8 years old and already thinking about killing people. Girls at getting age are supposed to be playing an innocent, but Meily is different. The environment she grows up in is very different from normal.
I decided to treat her more nicely.
“Who is this Eriko?”
“It’s the girl that treats my mother. She is a skilled wizard. I knew both o you should meet each other. Since you two are both in using magic. Both of you will become great friends.”
“You think so…”
“Eriko is a kind person.”
Meily said with a smiling face. She seems to look up to Eriko.
That reminds on something.”
“The week-long festival is going to start tonight right?”
I said.
Meily nodded.
“That’s right, but I’m staying home tonight. Well, I don’t have any money.”
Money is always her problem. No that’s not right, money is everyone's problem and that’s normal. But her wasting the time of her youth because she doesn’t have money is sad.
I guess I have to do something.
Before the night arrived I came to the forest with Meily. Using my magic I hunt monsters and finish some quest. Earning some money and securing our fun tonight.
“Being an adventurer sure is amazing. You can earn this lot of gold by just going out in few hours. I wish I can become an adventurer like you soon.”
“Well, that’s the only thing I’m good at. I don’t have much talent besides that.”
Well, honestly I don’t have a talent. I can’t sing, dance and draw.
I’m just surviving so far because of luck.
The sunsets and the night arrives. The lights in the street changes and many people gathered. This scene looks like a Japanese festival. There are many vendors on the side of the streets and games to play. Kids are very happy running around and lovers holding hands.
I never have any relationship before, but it’s fine.
“Mayu is it okay to play here?”
“It’s okay festival is created to make a memory for kids.”
I said.
Meily smiled and look into my eyes.
“You're right, lets make some memories.”
I then drag Meily to the candy shop and buy some candy. After eating our candy we go and play games like shooting games and catching small fish.
In the shooting game, we found Rin.
“Oh, my little sister is here. Look at big sister. I gonna get that grant stuff toy for you.”
“Do you're the best big sister?”
“Mayu’s smile is the best. I can’t lose now.”
Rin then fires the toy gun and nothing was hit.
“... What is that is there some kind of cheat on this gun!”
“You're just not good on it, next player.”
Said the game owner.
“It pissed me off… Another one. I can’t lose in front of my little sister.”
Said Rin in high spirit.
But the high spirit is not enough. Rin failed again. Rin became desperate and shoot the gun again. She failed again and again.
Rin was very angry she wanted to destroy the toy gun in her hand with frustration.
“This is cheating!”
Then another couple like people arrived.
Marry holding hands with captain Yuri.
“I didn’t know Marry and Captain Yuri is like this.”
I said.
“No no no no, that’s no it. There's a lot of people I don’t want to lost sight with Captain Yuri.’
I then make a teasing smug face.
“I said, that’s not it.”
“What are you doing here?”
“We’re playing this game.”
“Oh…”
Captain Yuri get the toy gun and pay the fee, At that next moment, Yuri fired the toy gun.
Boom! That’s the sound we all heard and as we open our eyes and take a look the whole shop is destroyed.
“My shop…”
The owner is in depression after seeing what Captain Yuri did.
“Sorry, I will pay for everything.”
Said Yuri in an apologetic tone.
Meily and I leave the shop and go on another food trip.
We sat on the bench chair and eat the food we bought.
“Mother will like this food. I better buy her some before going back home.”
“You're so nice.”
“It’s normal to be nice with your mother.”
“Well, I envy you. I’m not nice to my mother. I’m so stupid I didn’t realize her sacrifices.”
“Then go and apologize to her. I know she will forgive you.”
“That’s not happening. She’s not in this world.”
“She’s not in this world. Is she dead?”
Meily asked.
“Not exactly but it’s like that…”
I answered.
I’m the one who is dead. My mother is still living her life back in japan. Sometimes I wonder what she’s doing there. Is there a way for me to go back? Maybe not in my real body, but can I meet her with this body? She’s going to be surprised when she saw her child became a little elf.
“In the seventh day of the festival. Firework will appear in the sky. Let's watch it with your mother.”
“That’s a good idea. Mother likes fireworks.”
“Then, it’s decided.”
“Mother will be delighted.”
Meanwhile, Eriko is watching the festival above from a giant tree.
“Meily is doing well and I wonder what's her reaction after this..."
Eriko then takes a bite of her cotton candy.
“It’s good.”
The first night of the week-long festival ended.
