Logan's POV
We make it back to the pack house, exhausted from the days events and even more confused. Craig and I head up to his office where we both fall back into chairs with a big sigh. Craig, rubbing his temples, asks " So what is it you wanted to talk to me about?"
"Do you remember the children's story we all grew up with? The Blood and The Moon?" I ask.
He gives me a quizzical look "Yes. But what does that have to do with anything?"
"There may be some truth to it." I say, while still trying to figure out how.
"Seriously? Logan, it's just a silly children's bedtime story. I really don't see how it has anything to do with the events of today." Craig stands and walks over to his office bar, pulls out two low-ball glasses, grabs a bottle off the shelf and proceeds to pour us one each. Leaving the open bottle on the bar, he walks behind his desk and sits down, pointing to my glass still on the bar and motioning me to sit in front of his desk.
"I'm not sure, but my wolf was spooked when he heard you telling Dr. Mang about what happened to Caroline and that Ryker could feel everything she was going through. So it must have something to do with them and the story I would imagine." I say, taking a sip of my drink, wrinkling my face.
"Not your flavor?" Craig asks with a chuckle and a raised eyebrow. I cough a little "uhm no, I'm more of a scotch drinker myself. Not so much bourbon." Craig chuckles more.
"Has your wolf told you anything more?" He's asks getting back to topic. "Nothing except that all wolves know of some prophecy, but not the details and that we would know it as the children's story. But he's been oddly quiet since... Oh and that something is coming and soon." I say just realizing that Atlas has been MIA since the hospital.
"Hmmm. Tobias has been too quiet also..." Craig says perplexed.
"Atlas? Where the hell did you go?" I ask trying to find him in the recesses of my mind.
"Speaking with Tobias. You'll both have to wait.", Atlas says then cuts back out abruptly.
"Apparently our wolves are talking..?" I tell Craig. "About what?" Craig said now more confused than ever. " I have no idea. Atlas blocked me out." I say as my nerves become on edge. He never blocks me out... And he's never not a smartass...
Craig's POV
I sit here shocked sipping my bourbon and thinking about what Logan just told me. I mean yes, in a way it does make sense. But, it's just a children's story. "Tobias, what's the meaning of this?" I ask my wolf. Silence. I'm greeted with silence. "What the hell man?." When I look back at Logan he seems to be just as worried as I'm starting to become.
"I don't really remember much of the story." I say looking at Logan. "My mom would always tell the story to us when we were younger but, seeing as I was next in line to become Alpha, I was always training."
I get up from my chair to grab my bottle of bourbon to refill my now empty glass. I see a bottle of Glenavon Special Liqueur Whisky from eighteen fifty-two. It's my most expensive Scotch so I grab it off the bar along with my bourbon and hand him the unopened bottle of scotch. He looks at me, then back at the bottle, then back at me again. "I can't open this. This is over a hundred years old." he tells me with shock written all over his face.
"Yeah, just take it. Consider it a gift for being mated to Liz. She is like a sister to me, and she has always been family." I tell him when I see his eyes light up when I mention her. "Yeah. She's all I been hoping for in a mate. We were actually about to mark each other before I got a link from Ryker to get to the forest. So, yeah and thank you." He says as he holds up the bottle. I just nod my head and we continue to sit in silence. "Do you think it would be possible for your mom to come down here? You know, to ahh... tell us the story. You said she always told it. I'm a little rusty on all the details as well." He tells me fumbling with his words. I immediately feel for my mom's link and I know she is sleeping. "Mom".... I link her waiting a few seconds. "Mom, wake up". When I feel her grogginess and then alertness. "What's wrong? Is it Caroline?" she asks me already starting to panic. "No, no. Caroline is fine. We just left the hospital. But, could you come to my office. I need your help for a few minutes". I tell her when I feel her calmness settle over me like it always has.
She may not be Luna anymore, but she still carries herself as such. "Okay son. Give me a few minutes and I will be on the way. Did you need me to wake your father?" "Uhm no, I don't think so. This shouldn't take long." I say when I feel her cut the link.
I look back at Logan. "She is on the way." I tell him.
