CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

Alpha Ryker POV

Beep... Beep... Beep... Thumpthump... Thumpthump... Thumpthump...

"Ryker..! Ryker..! Goddess I'd rather be trying to wake you from a f*****g hangover than this coma right now. Our mate has already woken and here you stay like a dead rotting log..!" Zane growls. "RYKER!!!"

A sharp intake of breath and the incessant screaming from Zane jolts me out of whatever coma I fell into. I grasp my head with one hand "Alright. Alright. Alright! For f***s sake Zane keep it down, I'm up..." I growl back at him. I try to sit up, but my body won't have it. "A little help would be nice?" I grumble at Zane. He comes forward just enough to help me sit up and throw my legs over the side of the bed. "Can you handle yourself now big boy?" Zane chuckles facetiously. I just glare at him and push him back.

I hear the door open and smell my Beta walk in. "Logan, wish I could say that I'm glad to see you but I can only see shapes. Particularly the round one walking through the door." I chuckle. "Well I'd like to say you're a sight for soar eyes, but I can't see a thing with how dark they have this room." He chuckles back at me. "She's awake you know? They just woke her up." He tells me as I see his outline lean against the wall across from me. I was about to tell him that she is our mate but just then, I can hear and smell Dr. Mang and a few of her nurses come in and brighten the lights enough to be able to see what they are doing.

My vision is begining to clear and I can see them fussing over me. "So how are we feeling Alpha?" Dr. Mang asks as she shines a light in my eyes and I wince. Her nurses are checking my vitals. "Like I have the worst hangover since the beginning of time." I tell her chuckling a bit. "That's good to hear. You seem to be recovering rather quickly. Do you remember anything that happened?" Dr. Mang asks sounding perplexed.

"All I can really remember is feeling Caroline's pain and die each time and you bringing her back. Then nothing." I tell her honestly scratching the back of my neck. "Hmmm... That's very odd..." She says more to herself than to anyone in particular. "Would you mind if we took some blood samples and run a few tests?" She asks. I nod my head still confused as everything starts slowly coming back to me. She has one of her nurses go get the needles and vials and proceeds to take samples.

"Alright Alpha, I'll run some tests and inform you if we find anything. It's strange that you experienced exactly what Caroline went through. You're free to go if you wish." She tells me. I nod and wait for them to leave the room.

I sigh as I look at Logan now sitting in one of the visitors chairs. "Anything you'd like to share with your best friend? Or are we playing 20 questions?" He chuckles at me. "She's my mate." I sigh.

"So what Craig said was true.?" Logan asks while deep in thought. "Yes Logan." I tell him. I rub my head a bit more as the events leading up to the hospital begin rushing back when Zane growls loudly in my head and i roar out "Wheres that f*****g Alpha!?" I growl looking at Logan, Zane flashing in my eyes.

Logan shifts uneasy in his chair before clearing his throat "He escaped the pack house dungeons with the brother. They killed a bunch of other pack members in their escape..." Zane attempts to take control in his rage and it takes everything in me to hold him back as I let out an agonized growl. "He what!?" I ask through gritted teeth. "He's gone, Ryker. But Craig will know what pack the Alpha belongs to." I calm a bit, Zane still growling in my head. Logan stands and walks over to me "Come on, let's get you back to the pack house and to your mate. We can talk with Craig more about how to find that Alpha." He helps steady me to my feet as I nod."We will go see Alpha Craig, but we must avoid Caroline at all costs. She's not eighteen yet and does not recognize me as her mate. When we are done with Alpha Craig we will leave immediately." I tell him as we walk out of the room towards the elevator. "There's also something else Craig and I need to discuss with you. It's about a prophecy that we think you and Caroline are a part of..." I look at him confused "A prophecy?". He nods "Yeah. Apparently we were all told the prophecy as children but through a story."

"What story?" I ask him. "The Blood and The Moon" he tells me just as I can just see the doors closing when Logan says "Hold the doors" and they open back up and he walks in first and I follow, immediately smelling coconut and strawberries. f**k!

I then find her and see that she is checking me out I watch her eyes move from my shoulders to my arms back to my chest. Her eyes pause a little to long on my lips and see her then make complete eye contact with me. Zane is howling at our mates closeness and her scent is more potent and mouthwatering in this small confined elevator. I see my beta in the corner with his mate with jealousy coursing through me that he can just be so open about it. Zane is pushing himself against me to come out and it takes all my strength to subdue him and push him to the back of my mind. I look back at my mate and see she is leaning closer to me and I watch her sniff me when I clear my throat letting her know I had caught her. Her Cheeks immediately turned red and just as quickly the doors opened letting in a fresh draft of air. "Come on Liz" She says to Logan's mate and we follow them out, when logan speaks up. "Oh babe, this is my Alpha, Alpha Ryker." he tells her when out of no where she kisses my cheek and gives me a quick hug when Logan pulls her away from me just as quickly and Caroline let's out a growl of warning when I look at her. "Did she growl because she is jealous or..?" Zane trails off in thought as I just watch as Liz walks up to her. "It's okay he won't hurt me" She tells her, holding her hands. "I feel like we're missing something" I tell Zane when Liz looks at me.

"Thank you, for saving Caroline. She is my absolute best friend, and sister" she tells me when I see my Caroline look straight at me. Almost like she is frozen in shock when she also tells me "Thank you". I just give her a curt nod.

"Come on Liz, let's stop at Darnell's. It's on the way to the house anyway" I hear her say, when Liz turns around. "Join us for lunch?" She asked when I see Logan smiling broadly and he looked to me "No thank you. We will be returning to your pack house to gather our things, and to talk to Alpha Craig for a bit then we will be leaving tonight. I have to get back to my pack." I say looking to Logan. I see all of their faces drop especially my Caroline's. Zane was whining trying to push through when i shoved him back again when my mate growls out.

"NO" and i couldnt help but to look at her in shock when she continues "No, I only just woken up no more than an hour ago and I will have tonight and tomorrow with my sister." She says fervently. Leaving no room for argument. I turn my head away from her and I look to Logan to see a smirk on his face when she grabs Liz's hand and pulls her and walks away. "Damn, she told you!" Zane snides at me when I roll my eyes. I huff out and followed the girls to some place called Darnell's with Logan beside me. "Well, I like her already!" he tells me as he walks to catch up to the girls and leaves me behind silently sulking, having to deal with this torture.
