CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Alpha Ryker POV

After Dr. Mang ran out of the waiting room to Caroline's room my chest immediately became tight. I felt her die. How is this possible? Zane was whining and howling in pain while I was clutching at my chest. I haven't even marked her. She doesn't even recognize or know that I'm her mate. I don't understand, and I fell to my knees and I let out an agonizing heartbroken howl.

I just sat there holding my chest. Please Moon Goddess, please, I beg. Don't take my Caroline and just as soon as the pain came it was gone. It felt like the weight was just gone. I took a deep breath in and when I felt a hand on my shoulder I lifted my head to look at Alpha Craig and he too, had a solemn look on his face. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" He asked me and I got up off the floor and followed him down the hall.

"Alpha Ryker, am i correct?" I nod. "Did i hear you correctly, when you were attacking Alpha Romero? Did you scream that she is your mate?" Alpha Craig asks, pointing to the ER where Dr's and nurses are frantically rushing around her. I shift a bit on my feet seeing this. "Uhmm, yes. You did hear that correctly. She is my mate".

Alpha Craig seems deep in thought about this "Does she know? Have you told her?"

I sigh "No, i havent told her. She didnt recognize me as her mate so i know she is still under eighteen."

A look of confusion crosses Alpha Craigs face "Wait she didnt recognize you? You two have met already?"

I shift on my feet again. "Well you two didn't" I hear Zane say with a prideful grin. I shake him from my head. "Not exactly. Our wolves met and played around a bit". Alpha Craig chuckles "I see". Right when I was going to ask him about Romero, I felt like my heart got ripped out of my chest. NO! I gripped the wall with one hand my other over my chest and Alpha Craig grabbed my arm to help steady me just as Logan came over with a worry stricken face. "Alpha? What's wrong?" I couldn't even get the words out with so much pain shooting through my chest when it just stopped and I felt like I could breathe again. "Ryker, what the hell man?" Logan says with a worried and confused face. "I can feel her" is all I say. I mean what could I tell them. Hell, I don't even understand it myself. "What do you mean, you can feel her?" Alpha Craig asks. I just shake my head. "I can feel her die".

Just then we see Dr. Mang walking back towards us, so we go back to where everyone is at.

"How is she? Is she okay? Please tell me my baby girl is okay." Her mother says asking. "She is stable for now. I will be keeping a watchful eye on her at all times. You do need to know, that Caroline has died twice now and I was able to get her back." She pauses, and looks at her watch then back up at us. " I do recommend that we put her in a medical coma for at least twenty-four to forty-eight hours. She has high quantities of wolfesbane and a illegal drug substance in her system. The injuries that she received are not fatal, but with her already flatlining in a matter of a few minutes apart, this would be our safest route." "Yes, do whatever it is you think is best. I trust you" her mother says. Dr. Mang nods and walks back to Caroline's room.

Alpha Craig's POV

When Dr. Mang leaves back to Caroline's room I look to Alpha Ryker. Holy s**t! He really can feel her. When I'm deep in thought about this new information my father speaks up. "Dr. Mang will let us know of any changes. I'm going to get your mother and I home.". He says with his hand on my shoulder and my mother kisses my cheek and they walk out. I turn to Sherri, my mate and just pull her into my arms. "You should get back home too, I'm going to stay for a little while longer". She looks at me with so much pride and love in her eyes. "Okay, let me know if you need anything" She tells me just as we hug and she goes to pull away, Liz speaks up. "Luna, I will walk you back." I look at her with gratitude showing on my face when she turns to Alpha Ryker's Beta and gives him a hug and a kiss. "I guess she found her mate" Tobias speaks up. "I guess she did" and they both walk out of the waiting area.

I turn my attention back to Alpha Ryker and his Beta. "Well, I guess we can skip formalities since we're all family now". I say as I look to Ryker's Beta. "Your name was Logan, yes?" He nods his head when I look to Ryker and his face looks slack. "Ryker, are you okay?" I ask just as he starts to sway on his feet. Right before he falls to the floor Logan catches him. "Ryker, what's wrong.?. RYKER!" Logan yells at him. "I NEED A NURSE! DR. MANG!" I yell, and Dr. Mang comes forward with nurses behind her. "What happened?" She asks.
