CHAPTER THREE

We were both snarling at each other calculating each other when Craig decided to make an appearance and stand in between us. "ENOUGH!!!" he roars in his Alpha voice. It doesn't affect me like it does Lewey and he storms off, and out the house. Craig looks at me and he pushes his aura out more on me when I hear Liz whimper next to me and I realize I was silently challenging him, when I looked away and he dropped his aura.

He may not have been sworn in as Alpha yet, but that doesn't mean other pack members don't respect him and call him Alpha. His aura is more powerful than my father's but all in the same it still doesn't have any affect on me like it does anyone else.

"What the hell Caroline? You always have to challenge him don't you? Why can't you just get along?!" "Oh hell no! We didn't even do anyth-" "Hush Myia" I yelled at her and she huffs and whines in the back of my mind to go pout. "He challenged me first and- " I go to explain when he cuts me off. "I don't care to hear it Caroline it's always his fault, when are you going to start taking responsibility of your actions too?" He asks. "You won't even.. never mind. It's not important. Sorry. Alpha." I turn my head in submission and storm out the house.

I need a run, and shift into my wolf and take off towards the forest. "Want me to join you?" Liz links me. Instead of answering I just shove her out my head and keep running. I need to blow off some steam. Gah! They infuriate me. I didn't do anything wrong except stand my ground and if that's a problem then the hell with it. "Let's go hunt" Myia chips in. A hunt does make me feel better and it will help me calm down. I slow my pace and come to a stop when I start sniffing my surroundings and listen carefully. I catch a deer's scent and follow it for about sixty yards when I stop and spot him near the lake grazing. I slowly start to make my way to him staying low to the ground when I'm only about ten feet away from him the wind changes and the deers head pops up alerting him and me that he has caught my scent. I allow him to run, something about a chase thrives me and my wolf before we go in for the kill. I jump towards him and successfully snap my jaws around his neck and I tear his throat out. Killing him instantly. I allow Myia to take full control and eat as her hearts content. Something about devouring raw meat makes my stomach queasy.

After Myia gets her fill she hands me back control and I make my way back closer to home but not quite ready to go back yet, so i head to the creek thats a few miles behind our house. I notice its starting to get dark and i just lay down with my head on my paws looking at the clear sky enjoying the moon shining down on me when I feel a mindlink come through. Ugh! I allow it in, only to hear my mother's voice flit through "Caroline, where are you? You weren't home when we got home. I asked Liz where you were. She said you went for a run, but that was hours ago and it's getting late." She tells me. I stay silent thinking about my answer when she says "Stay where you are, I'm coming". Okay, I think when the link gets shut off. I wait a few more minutes by the creek, when I see my mother's brown and black wolf. She comes to lay next to me and just something about my mother's presence makes me weak and I shift back and hold onto her wolf and just cry. Through my crying I didn't realize she had shifted back until I felt her arms around me. Holding me close. "There, there baby. Let it out. It's okay, I'm here." I just nod my head and let all my tears wash away the anger I felt from my brother's. My mom continued to hold me even after my crying episode.

I had no more tears to cry and started to hiccup. "Liz, told me what happened, and Lewey's reaction after your altercation. Then when Craig came in the kitchen. " She pauses, then continued with a question "How long have you been able to resist an Alpha's aura?" I think back and said "How did you know i could resist it?" I ask. She smiles at me and says "Craig is who noticed it and happened to mention it to me when i had a talk with him before i linked you". "Oh, well when dad used his Alpha aura and his order to forbid me from skipping school anymore when Liz and I got caught. I realized then that it had no affect on me. I thought it was just because he was my dad, but I also realized it affected Craig and Lewey before Craig even developed his Alpha aura. " I tell her. "Hmm.. that's interesting." She says. Looking deep in thought when her eyes glaze over.

"We should head back your father is going nuts." She giggles. "Am I in trouble? You know. For not telling you about my ability?" I ask her. She touched my face with her hand and leaned down to kiss my forehead when she spoke" It will be our little secret, just don't tell anyone until I speak with your father and see what he thinks. But, aside from that we are not mad at you, and I for one am proud of you for standing up to your brothers. Just be easy with trying to challenge them, they are after all Alpha men" she says with a giggle. "Come on, race you home." She says before she shifts into her wolf and takes off to the house. But something she says catches me attention, they may be Alpha men, but I'm an Alpha female. So with that last thought I shift into my wolf and sprint after my mother racing towards the house gaining on her heels.
