CHAPTER 65: A Taste Of Heartbreak
Caelen stepped out into the main hall just as the heavy doors swung open. A cold wind followed Alpha Caden inside but the real chill came when their eyes met.
They both held each other’s gaze for a long thin second... two proud wolves pretending to be civil when every muscle in their bodies wanted to lunge.
Caden smiled first. It was polite, it was respectful and it was fake.
Caelen smiled back with equal fakery.
“Alpha Caden,” he said calmly. “Welcome to Silverfang Pack.”
Caden bowed his head slightly.
“Alpha King Caelen.” His tone was smooth, but there was iron underneath. “Thank you for receiving me on such short notice.”
“I always have room for… allies,” Caelen replied, stepping closer with the calmness of a man who ruled a continent.
