“You have nothing to worry about,” I said.
A smug smile spread across Everly’s lips.
“Good, then let’s finish up here.”
We quickly finished our food before returning to the building and then to our separate spaces. Back in work mode, I quickly found myself absorbed in my tasks once more. Time flew by, and while I hadn’t completed all my assignments, I seemed to be managing decently on my first day. At least I hadn’t spilled coffee on anyone.
The sound of footsteps suddenly echoed in my ears, pulling me back to reality. I turned my head and saw Everly appear beside me.
“Well done,” she complimented.
“What?” I asked, surprised.
“You survived your first day with only minimal screw-ups,” she remarked.
“Again, I’m sorry about the food.”
