Louis
“I f**k who I want, when I want to. Ain’t no rules in the jungle, niggas gettin' high, gettin’ sips from my uncle…”
That’s Louis, rapping and dancing as he walks back from the DH, swinging his laundry bag over his shoulder. It’s late afternoon, the sun is blazing, and Louis is in his element, unbothered, cocky, and as smooth as ever.
He heads to the laundry rooms, which are right inside the school premises. There are six in total three for boys, three for girls, side by side, just separated by a fence. Each student books a slot in advance. It’s Louis’s turn.
He’s just about to toss in his clothes when he hears a voice from the girls’ laundry side.
Hattie: Oh damn, ain’t no way!
Louis peeks over the fence.
Louis: Hey, wassup?
Hattie: It’s my slot and the machine’s not working. The others are all in use.
Louis: Let’s combine our clothes and use mine.
Hattie: You know we’re not allowed to do that. We’ll get punished.
Louis: (grinning) Rules were meant to be broken. I don’t mind being punished with you.
Hattie: (laughing) Stop it, Louis.
Louis: Oh, you know my name? (shocked)
Hattie: Please, who doesn’t? The famous basket ball player!
Louis: Oops! You look good, by the way. Who’s the lucky guy?
Hattie: Y’all assume too much. Who said there is a guy?
Louis: Ain’t no way, Hattie.
Hattie: (smirks) Oh, so you know my name too?
Louis: I just read it on your T-shirt. Chill!
Hattie: Ouch.
Louis: (laughs) I’m kidding. I know you.
Hattie: Whatever (rolling eyes), so how will I know when you’re done with the laundry?
Louis: With whose laundry? Come on, let’s just wait together.
Hattie: No way. That machine takes like two hours.
Louis: Then let’s take a walk.
They leave the laundry rooms and stroll side by side. The height difference between them is noticeable. The sun is scorching, so Louis offers his cap. At first, Hattie refuses, but eventually gives in and wears it with a shy smile.
They talk, they laugh. You’d swear they’ve been close forever, not just two people who met at the laundry 15 minutes ago. Something about the vibe was just right.
Eventually, they find a big shady tree and sit down. Louis leans against the trunk, and Hattie rests her head on his shoulder, both of them eating ice cream they bought from a nearby vendor. But little did they know, someone was watching.
Chichi, the founder of Leaders High School Confessions, was sitting nearby with his bestie, Blessings, aka Bee. Chichi is loud, openly gay, loved by many girls, and hated by most guys. He knows everything about everyone, and he lives for the drama.
Seeing Louis and Hattie like that? Oh, he had to post on the i********: page that is followed by every learner.
Chichi posted on the Confessions page (@leadershighconfessions):
"It seems like Louis and Hattie wanna tell us something, wedding bells? Can you hear that?"
Along with a blurry picture of Hattie leaning on Louis’s shoulder under the tree. And just like that the entire school started watching.
