AGAINST MY MAFIA FATHER

Chapter 1: My life! The atmosphere was very gloomy and windy,and before anybody else,Kira had woken up.She was not in her best of moods because she just couldn't get her mind off the fact that they had to move to another city. ”What am I gonna do with my life now,if I have to move away from all my friends and my childhood memories?” Kira asked no one in particular. She had decided to take a lonely walk without anyone's consent. The roads of New York city were already bustling with numerous activities,it was barely 8am in the morning. Kira decided to take a short walk down town but ended up walking a longer distance as she was deeply lost in thought. She had been walking for over an hour without realizing it,and by the time she looked at her wristwatch on her hand she started hurrying home knowing that her family would soon notice her absence “I'll have to get home as soon as possible before dad notices I'm gone, He'd be so mad”.She panicked as she hurried back to her father's unwelcoming mansion. Kira considered her home unwelcoming because of all the drama that unfolds on a daily basis. Kira was the second child out of three.She had an older brother and a younger sister. Her life was totally different from what she would ever wish for, she considered her life a mess. Kira tiptoed quietly in order for her presence not to be noticed.The last thing she wanted was for her father to see her sneaking back into the house as at that time of the morning. Kira's father was a wealthy billionaire known by almost every person in the big city of New York.He was very much influential and was non stop seeking for power and fame. Although Kira had everything at her beck and call,she was not about that kind of life She wanted simplicity and less of attraction. She always dreamt of a simple life with a happy family but all she got was a filthy rich family and a life full of mishaps Just as she was about to make her way through the wide and spacious corridor that led to her room, she saw a huge,not so friendly looking figure gazing angrily at her, behold it was her father. She could feel shivers running down her spine, if not for one thing she could have peed in her panties at the sight of her angry father. She knew what would be before her because her dad had warned her numerous times not to leave the house alone or without his consent. He barely let them out of the house for any irrelevant reason and they were used to always going out with escorts.Kira hated it more than anything else,more like being monitored for every single step she made.She felt reprimanded,in b*****e and imprisoned “ Where the hell are you coming from?” He thundered angrily. Kira, who was now almost half dead, didn't know what to say. “Good morning father” she managed to find some words to throw out. She knew that wasn't the right thing to say due to the fact that her father had asked her a question totally different from what she had just said. “I asked a question, Young lady, and I demanded an immediate response to it,” said Kira's father. “I….well…uhm… Kira stuttered. “I wanted to take a quick walk down the road so I stepped out for a few minutes,I'm sorry daddy” Kira apologized, although she didn't feel remorseful. On hearing that she had left the house unpermitted, Kira's father got really upset. One thing he hated was for anyone to go against his rules and regulations. It didn't matter who altered, Kira's father always had the best ways to punish anyone who faulted, including his ‘Darling’ wife, Bianca. “I have always been against anyone leaving my house without my permission,and you have always been the one to go against me” he spoke harshly “Dan!? he called out to the man in charge of their safety. “yes sir!!” Dan responded and ran out hastily. “ Once again Kira left this house without you noticing,and the next time this happens you'll be relieved of this job and be rendered jobless “ He threatened. “My apologies sir” Dan pleaded “And as for you little brat, you're hereby grounded!, and no food till dinner time,Dan,make sure she doesn't leave her room till I say so ,lock her in and let me have the keys” he finalized. Kira wasn't really bothered,she wasn't hungry anyways but she hated the fact that she was grounded.Although it wasn't so significant because she was used to not going anywhere. She was locked up as instructed and even her mum couldn't say anything to object to the punishment. All this while no one could come out to say anything, because Kira's father was too strict. Kira's siblings, Ben and Maya,were in their various rooms listening closely to what was going on in the corridor. As at this time, Kira's father had gone to his room to prepare for the meeting he has later in the day Bianca, Kira's mum who had been listening helplessly, finally came out.She couldn't do anything about it because she had little or no say over the rules and regulations of her husband,Josh. “Hey sweetie” She called out to Kira. “Why did you run off again? Knowing fully well that your dad detests disobedience” Bianca was trying to whisper softly in order not to draw her husband's attention. Kira just laid back on her bed,unbothered. “ I wanna be left alone mum, please I'm not in the mood for more chastisement” Kira tried talking her mum into leaving her alone “ I'm just concerned about your well-being honey, because I know you can be very stubborn”, Bianca added “ I'll be fine mum, I always am,” Kira assured her mother. Kira could be described as an audacious teenager. She was 19 years old but acted more mature than a girl her age should. All other persons trembled at the presence of her father, Josh,but she had this mentality that she shouldn't be oppressed by his strict standards.And that was why she would always go against him sometimes without thinking about the consequences thereafter. Her mum finally left for her own room and Kira opted to watch movies on her big screen TV, she stared blankly at the television as if too interested in what was showing, but she wasn't. Once again, she was lost in thought. “ Something is not right about my father” she thought, “because I see no reason why he should be overprotective, like something is actually after our lives “ Kira added. “He's definitely hiding something,” she concluded. Kira's father, who was a very busy man, spent most of his life traveling from one country to another. He was rarely around but always kept a close watch on his family. He loved his family so much but would never be seen expressing his emotions.He provided everything and protected them closely. One could easily tell that Josh was a materialistic kind of father and husband.He believed that provisions were enough to keep a happy home,but he was totally wrong. His home wasn't a happy one. It was the opposite of happy. Kira couldn't get over the feeling that her dad was hiding something or probably up to something. His daily actions made her more curious. He was always too protective or getting upset over anyone leaving the house without being escorted. “What could he possibly be hiding or seeking?” She asked herself. She had a lot of thoughts to feed on,and she was deep in thinking until she fell asleep.
