Bethany’s dragon drifted down to land at the end of the gravel shore at the north lake. She shifted and stared out at the glassy surface as Everly and Gabby followed suit. She sighed as Everly approached, followed closely by Gabby, whose head swiveled as she tried to take in the beauty around her.
“Do you want to tell me what happened?” Everly asked.
Bethany picked up a stone and skipped it across the surface of the lake before she replied. “Joshua was driving me crazy. We went to my office, and he chose a few homes he wanted to see. He insisted they all met his idiotic requirements. When we arrived at each one, he would look around and then say that he didn’t like it because it didn’t feel right.”
