That phone call went better than expected, and Jake also ended the call with "Love you." Maybe there was hope. Maybe things could change, Kaylin told herself.
Kaylin finished getting showered and ready and then proceeded to pick out an outfit.
She stood in the room in the just b*a and panties, tapping her tummy because she couldn't decide, and it made her smile watching her tummy jiggle.
She definitely wasn't as society's version of skinny, but she liked food, but she was happy and healthy.
Kaylin had a butt and boobs that she very much enjoyed, and her tummy jiggled some, but who cares. She she as hell did not!
Finally, it was time to walk out the door.
Keys. Coffee. Purse. Water bottle. Phone. All things accounted for.
She was ready to take on the day or so, she thought.
As she backed out, pulled on the road and had her tunes playing, she was smiling she truly thought maybe just maybe things could turn around with Jake.
"Red light," she blurted out. She never gets stopped at this light, and it is the one right before the bank.
She looked over and noticed a familiar face. It's Mark, she wondered if she'd see him today. Quickly, she snapped back at Jake.
The light finally, after what seemed forever, turned green.
Just as she was about to turn, a black SUV ran a red light and T-boned her. She had zero time to react. "Ahhhhh," she screamed.
All she heard was glass breaking, metal bending, tires squealing, then nothing and black.
She was completely unconscious but could see her life. It wasn't Jake in the picture, but she was healthier than ever and a smile so bright, but that smile quickly started to fade. Feeling of pain and anguish started as she stared at herself.
This wasn't a dream. The pain was real. Her head was throbbing. She could feel pain in her side. What was happening? She couldn't open her eyes all the way. She heard voices, loud noises.
Kaylin, Kaylin open your eyes.
"Kaylin, sweetheart, can you hear me?" a voice called.
Finally, her eyes opened all the way. Mark. Another guy, a lady. Why was she feeling pain?
"What happened?" she mumbled and tried to sit up. Yeah, that wasn't happening.
"You were in a car accident. Don't move. The ambulance just got here." Mark exclaimed.
"I gotta get to..." She faded again.
The vision was playing again. This time, she saw dark hair and "turn around." she screamed, but nothing she felt a pain. No, she wanted to see.
Everything was bright, it hurt to open her eyes.
"Hey," a familiar voice said.
Finally, she opened her eyes fully. Jake. She felt a squeeze on her hand. He was holding it. Holy s**t, even in pain, she was shocked.
"What happened?" she mumbled. Every second thing was becoming clearer.
"You were T-boned at the last intersection before the bank. The asshole tried to run, but that cop was faster than him. I was coming back and came up on the scene and saw your little box."
She tried not to, but she laughed, did hurt as much as she imagined. He always called her car a little box, It was a renegade. He said that crumbled of ever in an accident. He was right!
There was a knock at the door wall, Kaylin looked up and saw Mark. He's was definitely in cop mode. "Can we talk to you if you're up for it.?" Marked asked with a puzzled look on his face. "Sure, I'm not going anywhere, I guess. Even though I'm not seriously injured." This woman was the definition of stubborn and sassy when she's ot at work or being around Jake very long.
"So the guy that hit you was highly intoxicated, and also, there's something else." Mark said with a smirk. She knew that smirk. It was gonna make her laugh whatever it was. "First off, I'm Mark, I actually know your wife from the bank, and I saw the whole accident. I was actually walking out of the store, right by it."
"Hey, I'm Jake. Man, nah, she definitely isn't my wife." he blurted out like word vomit. At that moment, Kaylin wanted to crawl in a hole. Why is Jake like this? He wasn't like this before. Mark just stared at Jake, then snapped back and looked irritated. "Anyways, Kaylin, well, the guy who hit you ran well tried too, but I caught him. You're gonna love this. It was Chase." Kaylins mouth fell open.
"Are you f*****g serious?" Kaylin said sounding utterly shocked and throwing herself up in bed. Horrible idea, instantly pain come to head.
Jake sat back in the bad and looked up from his phone the immediately back. Mark rushed over "Easy lady, but yeah it was."
Chase was a guy that worked in the store where the bank was located. It was a pretty big grocery store for a small town but they had good deals majority of the time and everyone was pretty awesome there. Except Kaylin couldn't stand Chase. Honestly, not alot of people could. He was a known heavy drinker, obviously sense it as only 8:30 when the crash happened. He genuinely creeped Kaylin out too.
She layed back in disbelief because of all Mark said. Chase claimed it was him seriously he was seen running from the scene. Then he laughed and asked "Is she dead, I hope I killed her." Mark didn't say what happened next but it was clear his nuckles were pretty beat up.
The Dr. came in and sense she just bruised up, nothing broken no bleeding inside anywhere she could go home so she could get some better rest. Those were the best words she's heard today.
She was excited but then reality slapped her. s**t. She was going to have zero escape from Jake for who entirely knows how long. She had to call work too. The insurance company. How bad was her car? Why did Chase say what he said? What did Mark do? Why did she want Mark to come back? She needed sleep and alot of it.
