Nick entered the flight deck with Asia beside him to find Gears, the Kid, and Bones busy at their stations. They left Asia’s second in the medical bay. He’d injured one of his four arms and would require surgery to fix it.
Gears had turned over piloting duties to the SIN since he was busy concentrating on the Kid’s sensor readings.
Nick smiled to himself. Gears preferred to pilot the Hunter manually, treating the ship as if it were his child. Turning over control to the AI was quite a sacrifice for the tech genius. Nick directed his mentor to sit at the engineering station while he slipped into the copilot’s seat just as Gears made a surprising report.
