Boring days
Sunday morning, the gentle rays of sunlight filtered through the cracks in the curtains, casting soft golden beams onto the bedroom floor, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and warmth. Adam lay in bed, his eyes half-closed as he gradually awakened. Stretching lazily, he shook off the last remnants of sleep before lightly hopping out of bed.
The room was filled with a faint fragrance, his favorite aroma diffusing from the wooden-scented incense. He enjoyed these moments of tranquility in this corner, allowing his thoughts to become clearer with the morning light.
Approaching the window, he pulled back the curtains, welcoming a refreshing breeze tinged with the delicate scent of vegetation. The scenery outside was serene and beautiful, with distant treetops bathed in a golden hue and the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. Adam's mood was serene; this was the morning atmosphere he cherished.
Turning on the stereo, soft music filled the room, like rays of warm sunlight penetrating his heart. Adam began some stretching exercises to the soothing melody, feeling his body loosen up and become light with each movement.
Heading downstairs to the kitchen, Adam intended to remind the maid to prepare breakfast, but he remembered she had taken the day off to visit her family. He rummaged through the fridge, finding only a salmon sandwich. Holding the sandwich, he seemed lost in thought, with a hint of concern in his eyes.
Adam prepared a refreshing glass of juice and sat on the living room sofa. Despite the spacious and bright environment, the house lacked a sense of warmth and homeliness. Ever since his breakup with his ex-girlfriend six months ago, he had been living alone. His parents would occasionally visit, but they were busy with their own lives and seldom had time to accompany him, let alone engage in deep conversations.
His father's expectations weighed heavily on him. Whenever he mentioned his research in the field of chemistry, his father would eagerly discuss various theories and practices. However, Adam had no interest in these topics; his heart longed for the world of mathematics, but he dared not defy his father's expectations.
His mother, a gentle and virtuous woman, often busied herself with work, preparing delicious meals for the family. She was the gentle force in the household, but her attention always seemed to be focused on his father, rarely noticing Adam's inner world.
Adam always felt a sense of detachment at home, unwilling to engage in too much conversation with his parents because he knew they wouldn't understand his thoughts and dreams. While the house was filled with an atmosphere of knowledge, it lacked the true warmth and intimacy of a home. He always hoped to one day find his true belonging and harbor, away from this oppression and constraint.
After finishing breakfast, as usual, Adam headed to the nearby park, his regular spot for morning exercise. The fresh air, lush trees, and cheerful birdsong provided a sense of relaxation and pleasure amidst nature's embrace.
During his jog, he noticed a secluded corner in the park with an ancient stone bridge surrounded by green grass and wildflowers. Although he had noticed it when he moved here years ago, he always felt there might be bugs or snakes around, so he had never ventured there. But this time, he noticed a faint glow emanating from the area, sparking his curiosity. Without worrying too much about the environment inside, he decided to investigate. Slowly jogging to the side of the stone bridge, he carefully observed the surroundings.
