Leaving Raeth behind
1996
The noise of the bombs hitting the ground is almost too much to bear. Buildings are erased from existence, the Raetheans are losing the fight against Qotia. Emer and Ida cover their children as they run behind a building to meet up with Thear.
The children are only a month old, twins. On Raeth it is not uncommon to birth twins, quite the opposite.
Emer and Ida hand them to their trusted friend. Thear trained with Emer, he is like a brother to him.
"Are you sure you both will not join me?" Thear asks worriedly.
"We must stay to fight, my brother" Emer puts his hand on Thear's shoulder while Ida strokes her children's faces.
"Lucasin, Ellawyn. Be good for Thear, yes?" She speaks to them with tear filled eyes.
Thear gives a nod and carries the children onboard his ship. He watches as pieces of the planet gets blown away as he lifts off and heads for the sky.
Raeth has always been strong but this war is only proving that Qotians are stronger. Emer and Ida will stay and use their powers but Thear is confident that they won't make it out. Not because Emer and Ida aren't strong, they are. Emer's super strength and Ida's telepathy skills have been perfected over the years and in different circumstances they might've won. But this is war and they are out numbered.
Thear contemplates staying but when he looks over at the children, he knows he made the right choice.
After traveling for days the children are becoming restless and so is Thear. He's so restless that he doesn't notice the small meteor headed right for the ship's left wing. There is a loud crashing noise, followed by a jerk of the shop and everything goes black.
