Learning to cope

242 Words
2006 The children are older now, they want to know more. More about their home, more about their powers. Lucasin hasn't shown improvement yet, he's angry. Ellawyn has been doing great with her training. It's hard for Thear to raise them as his own while waiting for a sign that they can go back home. He built the house they've grown in the last ten years by hand. It helps when you have an upper hand. In Raeth, powers like theirs are common, everyone has them. Here on Earth it's difficult because they have to hide in the shadows. They've survived this long off of hunting and using the Earth's natural resources. The lady who once helped them years ago when they first crashed has since died. So again it's just them. "Thear, are we training today?" An excited Ellawyn asks. "Such a goody two shoes" Lucasin mumbles under his breath. "Lucasin!" Thear snaps at him. "Yeah, I know. Ella's your favorite!" Lucasin storms out of the house and into the woods. Here in the greenery is where he feels safe. He's heard Thear speak of his home planet and he comes here to fantasize about it. Home, it has to be better than here. Better than coming second to Ellawyn. Lucasin has felt his powers before but he just can't control them, he knows that they're there. "Lucasin" Thear calls out while approaching him, "Let's train? Just me and you?" "Fine."
