CHAPTER SIX
Emily had been friends with Ryan for months, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that she wanted something more. She had developed a secret crush on him, but was too afraid to admit it.
As they spent more time together, Emily found herself stealing glances at Ryan, admiring the way he smiled or the way his eyes sparkled when he laughed. She felt like she was walking on air when he was near.
One day, as they were studying for an exam, Ryan turned to Emily and asked, "Hey, can I ask you something?"
Emily's heart skipped a beat. "What is it?" she replied, trying to sound casual.
"Do you believe in love at first sight?" Ryan asked, looking at her with a curious expression.
Emily felt her cheeks flush. She didn't know how to respond without giving away her true feelings. "I...I don't know," she stammered.
Ryan smiled. "I think it's possible," he said. "I've felt an instant connection with someone before."
Emily's heart sank. Was Ryan talking about someone else? She felt a pang of jealousy, which surprised her.
As they continued studying, Emily couldn't help but wonder if Ryan felt the same way about her. She knew she had to keep her secret hidden, at least for now.
But as they packed up their things to leave, Ryan turned to Emily and said, "You know, I really value our friendship. You're one of the most important people in my life."
Emily's heart skipped a beat. Was Ryan feeling something more too?
She smiled, trying to play it cool. "I feel the same way, Ryan."
As they parted ways, Emily couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them. Would she ever confess her secret crush? Only time would tell.
