Untitled Episode
Spoiled by a domineering CEO during pregnancy Shen Wei married Lu Chenzhou, the richest man in City A, but he never touched her. Until she discovered she was pregnant, and the father of the child… Lu Chenzhou grabbed her chin: “Whose child is it?” Shen Wei thought he would kill her, but instead, he pinned her against the wall: “Have another one, to inherit the family business.” The platinum wedding ring slammed silently onto the velvet carpet. Shen Wei stood barefoot on the cold bedroom floor, watching Lu Chenzhou's cold, hard back disappear into the doorway. On their third anniversary, their only conversation was, “Shen Wei, don’t wait anymore,” followed by a loud slam of the door shut. Outside the window, the lights of the Lu Corporation shone brightly; inside, she felt utterly alone. A strand of the pearl necklace on the dressing table broke, the smooth beads scattering like the crushed hopes she had held for the past three years. This marriage was secured by a favor owed by Old Master Lu to her grandfather before his death. Lu Chenzhou hated her, hated that she had become the chain binding him, so he gave her the title of Mrs. Lu, and... a gilded cage. A wave of nausea surged up again. It had been like this lately, especially bad in the mornings. Shen Wei leaned against the sink, dry heaving. Her reflection in the mirror was a pale, confused face. Lu Chenzhou never touched her. On their wedding night, he only stood at the door for a moment, his eyes colder than the winter night outside the window. "Each takes what they need, don't cross the line." That was the first thing he said to her, and also their longest conversation. Her period was more than a month late. Her heart pounded, and an absurd thought exploded in Shen Wei's mind. Impossible. Absolutely impossible. She frantically flipped through her phone's calendar, trying to find even the slightest possibility, but her fingertips paused on a hazy night a month ago. That night... at Lu's company's party, she had taken too much alcohol for him, getting completely drunk. In a daze, she seemed to be carried back to her room by someone, feeling a warm touch and hearing a deep voice… The memory was like shattered glass, sharp and blurry. The pregnancy test showed two bright red lines, so glaring that she almost fainted. The smell of disinfectant in the private hospital was enough to make anyone tense. She was alone in the VIP waiting area, the sound of her high heels echoing hollowly on the terrazzo floor. She wore huge sunglasses that covered half her face, her nails digging almost into her palms. Until the figure in the white coat pushed open the door and entered. “Ms. Shen, your test results…” The doctor’s voice was professionally gentle. Shen Wei looked up sharply. The person in front of her had a refined face and wore gold-rimmed glasses—it was… Xu Mo! The university senior who had supposedly disappeared after graduation, the gentle boy who had offered her an umbrella on her most vulnerable rainy night. Xu Mo clearly recognized her too; a complex emotion flashed in his eyes behind his glasses, gone in an instant. “Shen Wei,” he paused, his tone returning to its usual calm, “the results show you’re pregnant, about six weeks.” Six weeks. The timing matched. That chaotic night at the party. “The father of the child…” Xu Mo’s voice was soft, tinged with a barely perceptible tension, “Do you need me to help you contact him?” Shen Wei’s fingertips were icy cold. She couldn’t tell anyone that that night might have been a mistake, and the father of the child might be her nominal husband, or… no, absolutely not. She didn’t even dare to think about it. Lu Chenzhou’s personal assistant found her that very night, expressionless, and handed her a document. “Mr. Lu requests that you return to the old mansion tonight.” Shen Wei clutched the flimsy piece of paper, her palms clammy with cold sweat. The document contained a screenshot from the private hospital’s surveillance footage, clearly showing her entering the obstetrics and gynecology department. He knew. In the study of the Lu family mansion, the atmosphere was suffocatingly oppressive. Lu Chenzhou stood with his back to her in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, toying with an unlit cigar. Hearing footsteps, he slowly turned around. He was wearing a black silk shirt today, the collar slightly open, exuding a dangerous yet alluring aura. He approached step by step, his leather shoes clattering on the gleaming floor, each step feeling like a beat against Shen Wei's heartbeat. He didn't speak, but simply reached out and gripped her chin, the pressure neither too light nor too heavy, yet she couldn't break free. His fingertips were icy, his eyes deep and unfathomable, churning with emotions she couldn't decipher. "Whose child is it?" he finally spoke, his voice low and icy. Shen Wei's throat went dry. She wanted to explain, but didn't know where to begin. Should she say, "Maybe it's some man she doesn't even know who he is?" Or, "It's you?" That would only sound like a joke. She closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling, awaiting the impending rage, even…destruction. She had heard too much about Lu Chenzhou's methods. The expected pain didn't come. The grip on her chin suddenly loosened, followed by a tremendous force that pushed her backward, her back slamming heavily against the cold wall with a dull thud. She groaned, opening her eyes to find Lu Chenzhou already on top of her, one hand braced against the wall beside her ear, completely enveloping her in his shadow.
