His god-damned brother

~Third person POV~ "Leave me! Let me go you..." William doesn't even let her finish before he slaps her hard on the cheek. Kemi loses her balance and falls on the bed. Angrily, he moves on top of her and starts to tear off her clothes. Since she proves to be so bold, he would see how bold she is going to be now. Kemi still struggles with him trying to push him off and he instinctively raises his hand up to hit her again but the sound of his phone ringing tone stops him. He moves off from her, and pulls out the phone from his pocket. The name 'George' displays on his screen and he slides to answer. "Yes George, speak." "Consigliere, the underboss wants to see you." George says from the other end of the call. He clenches his fist in anger as he hears him say that. "I'm busy with something right now!" "He says to come see him quickly, he's got urgent message from the boss for you." 'F**king brother!' He curses under his breath and clenches his fist harder. "Fine, I'm coming now." He hangs up and throws the phone to the floor. "F**k! The f**king brother of mine! Who does he think he is to order me around?" He curses loudly. It pisses him off when his brother always gets the upper hand. He feels that the fact that his brother is the underboss shouldn't give him the right to order him around because that position was supposed to be his instead. He turns back to Kemi and points at her, "You better f**king stay in here and don't do anything stupid, don't even make a noise or I will kill you" William walks over to the couch to collect his jacket before leaving the room. Their father, Richard, runs the mafia family under disguise as the chairman of THE LAWAL INDUSTRY in Lagos. William is 35 and 7 years older than his younger brother, Lexis but their father still did not see him fit to be the underboss of the mafia and he chose Lexis instead. With the support of the other members of the mafia, Lexis became the underboss and is the soon to be new mafia leader after their father. Everyone fears and respects Lexis and most times, their father lets him make all decisions concerning the mafia without even seeking William's own opinion as the consigliere and that pisses him off the most. True, he knows Lexis has defeated many of their rivals and has earned lots of money for the family but that doesn't mean that he can't do same. He can do same if he is given the chance. William has dedicated all his life to the family but it feels like Lexis is the only recognized one. Well soon enough, he would get what's his. All he needs is to get enough powerful people on his side and the throne would be his. George has been a capo under their father for a long time and he has pledged his loyalty to the boss, which means that he would also serve Lexis if he becomes the boss. Well it's a good thing he is close with George; George is one of the richest and most respected capos in the mafia and it would be great to have him on his side. Even if they are quite close, it wouldn't be easy to get his support because he is like a loyal dog to the boss. Though, George would usually tell him that he would always support and help him but William does not trust that he has his side. William already has a plan for Kemi and he hopes she would be very useful. It's all a probability but it's better to try. He steps out of the elevator on the fifth floor and he sees George walking towards him with his right hand in his pocket. "He's in his meeting room, consigliere." George informs him. "You haven't said anything about the girl, have you?" William furrows his eyebrows at him. George huffs, "Oh come on consigliere, I wouldn't do something that childish. The underboss has his ways though. you should know better." He sighs before he continues, "You know the underboss would have already known you brought in someone right? He would probably think she's one of those girls you bring for the auction though." William knows that he's right; Lexis would have already known that he brought in someone so he would be expecting him to bring her to the auction. "You weren't trying to hide it obviously." George says with a smile. "I'm sure you have your reasons." William smiles at him, "You catch on quickly George." Then he frowns. "Why did you ask Erica to bring the girl to me earlier?" George looks at him apologetically, "The boss sent me an errand and so I pleaded with her to help me out." "You know very well that she works closely with Lexis, you could have asked people under you instead." George nods, "True but the men are not allowed to go up and I sent my soldiers to carry some assignments. No one expected a new arrival that's why. Anyways, I apologize for asking Erica. I didn't think deep about it but I assure you she has no idea about anything." He narrows his eyes at George, "Are you two friends again? You are fond of her already?" He shakes his head, "That girl doesn't even have a heart, how can one be fond of her?" Willam smirks at him, "And you count yourself among the people that have hearts?" George smiles cockily, "I do have a heart, right here..." He places his hand on the left side of his chest. "You're the one lacking one." William laughs and shakes his head."I have been trying to reach my assistant for a while now but cannot, I wonder where in the world he is." George opens his mouth as if he's about to say something but doesn't say anything. "Is there a problem?" William asks him. He shakes his abruptly. "No no, there's no problem." He adds."Let's go now." William nods and they made their way to the third door by the left. Erica steps out of the room and she bows to William. "He's inside consigliere." She says to him. He nods at her and walks into the room before the door slides close. Lexis is standing by the window with a cigarette in his right hand. He waves his left hand gesturing for William to sit and he feels anger rushes through his vein. He had been putting up with Lexis for a long time now and it just gets harder every day. He feels Lexis doesn't even have any regards for him as a consigliere or even his older brother and he just orders him around. Lexis turns to him and walks to where he is sitting before he leans on the table smoke curling out from his nose and mouth. "Alhaji Bawa is going to be at this auction and father says we have to impress him..." Lexis rolls his eyes as he says that, he doesn't hide his hatred for the Alhaji. He continues. "Father says I should leave it to you this time..." He looks at William, his face displaying no emotions as usual. "So you should prepare a great package brother, in two weeks time before the auction." William scoffs, "You could have simply sent the message to my assistant." Lexis smirks, "Your assistant? I don't think you have one anymore." William furrows his eyebrows in confusion as he wonders what he means by that. "And what's that supposed to mean Lexis?" Lexis places his cigarette back in his mouth before putting it out. "There's no cause for alarm you see. I only interrogated him a bit but he was just too loyal to you, that it irritated me and I decided to teach him a little lesson. Too bad I took away the only person loyal to you." He smiles. "What the f**k?" William springs up and slams his hands angrily on the table. "What the f**k did you do to my assistant Lexis? Did you kill him?" William is already raging inside and the smirk on Lexis's face shows that he's enjoying it. "I ask what you did to Fred, Lexis!" Lexis sighs and shrugs but doesn't answer his question. He suddenly turns serious. "The girl you took from the old man I gambled with, where is she?" Lexis suddenly asks. William isn't shocked that he already found out already. He just doesn't expect him to be so quick to figure out she's the old man's daughter. "I don't know what you're talking about..." William denies. "—and besides, haven't the money been paid to you already?" Lexis frowns and plays with the piercing on his bottom lip. "What you told me was that you were going to handle the man yourself and that's why I let him go. I only wanted to have fun that day but you decided to play nice and I allowed you. You never told me that your way of dealing with him is by f**king his daughter?" "That's not it. I have other reasons for taking her." "Are you bringing her for the auction then?" Lexis asks. William gulps and looks away. This isn't the way he wants things to go. He never planned to auction her but since it's like this, it isn't entirely a bad idea. He could just make her do his biddings before then so she can carry out his plan for him. "Do I need to bring her? I have other girls too, even virgins." William suggests hoping he would drop it but Lexis smiles. His usual devious smile. "Then what do you intend to do with that girl, dear brother?" He furrows his brows, "You are not planning on marrying her as a second wife, are you? Your wife will kill her." Lexis laughs. William groans in annoyance, "You told me father said I should handle it, so stop poke nosing and mind your business while I do mine." "That's correct. I will leave you to it but your assistant will pay the price for you deceiving me." William clenches his fist, "And what does he have to do with this? Come at me and let him go." "Someone has to pay the price brother, just like how that girl is paying for a dept she did not owe." Lexis smirks. Fred has been his assistant for a long time and has been very faithful to him. He's one of his best trusted people and Lexis knows that. The fact that he cannot do anything to stop him makes him angrier. "Let him go Alexander or I'll make you pay." Lexis feigns a frightened look, "Really? And how is that, I'm so scared right now." He says with sarcasm. "F**king let the boy go Lexis! He's done nothing wrong." He slams his hands on the table again. Lexis turns to the table and feigns a frown. "At this point, you will break the table William." He chuckles William bits his lips in anger, "You want to use him to blackmail me?" "Blackmail you? Of course not, I know very well that you cannot stoop low for a subordinate, no mafia member can." "So what do you want then?" "Nothing, I'm bored, just wanna have fun." He smiles. "I decide what would happen to him." "You can have fun with anyone you want and I don't care but if you kill my assistant, I won't let it go this time, Lexis." Lexis shakes his head and walks away from me back to the window. "You know me very well brother, I don't fear s**t. So do want you want and I will do want I want." He turns to William. "Don't be delusional that you can pull me down, you're not smart enough." William fights the urge to take out his gun and blow off his skull right now. "We're supposed to fight our famly rivals together but it seems that you will be willing to join them instead." Lexis adds. William grits his teeth, "I never said that, I have pledged my loyalty to father and will not go back on it." Lexis rolls his eyes before saying "Just make sure father doesn't find out about that girl. She's supposed to be with the other girls at the slave quarters but you have kept her in your room.." He shakes his head. William rolls his eyes. He knew Erica would definitely tell him. "I get it, its fine; but please reserve a little of her for Alhaji Bawa." Lexis says with a grin. "I never said I am bringing her to the auction." Lexis turns fully to him while leaning on the window. "So what's her use then? Your play toy?" "If that's all, I'll take my leave." William says and he starts walking towards the door but then, he pauses. "Send my assistant back to me." He hears Lexis chuckle, "You don't tell me what to do consigliere, I do what I want." William clenches his fist and turns to him with a smirk, "I understand that you crave a mother's love and that's why you're like this. It must be so lonely right?" Lexis's smile fades away and his face becomes serious again. William continues "I may not be the underboss or one everyone fears, but at least, I am not a saddist like you are." He smiles. "And I do have a mother; it's less lonely that way." He moves to walk away but Lexis's voice stops him. "The dead doesn't come back brother, do you expect me to cry a river because l don't have a mom? You talk like a child." Lexis slowly walks to him with his hands in his pocket and he smiles. William dreads whatever it is that he's about to say. "Seeing how lonely and sad your mother is every day, don't you think she should just die as well? It's really sad you know." Lexis says and shakes his head at him. "Isn't she a burden to you? Should I help you get rid of her? It would be painless and fast, I promise." He smirks. That is it. William cannot hold back anymore and he pulls his gun out before pointing it at Lexis's head. "Repeat what you said, you son of a b***h!" The unaffected look on Lexis's face makes him lose it the more. Lexis just stares at him smiling and when he turns around, he sees Erica pointing a gun to his head alongside five men. Lexis sighs and waves his hands at them. "It's just a disagreement between step brothers, its fine, you may go." He dismisses them. Erica hesitates for a while before she reluctantly lowers her gun and leaves with her men. With William still pointing his gun at his head, Lexis reaches for his shoulder and pats him. "You know very well that the instant you pull that trigger, you're not going down alone but everything you have as well and I'm sure that's your dear mother, right?" William clenches his fist in anger and lowers the gun before putting it back into his pocket. The door slides open and he turns to leave when Lexis says something. "Be careful dear consigliere..." He says with sarcasm. "—so you don't fall for that girl from the slums, it's not safe to have too many weaknesses." William swallows hard and scoffs, "You watch out as well." William knows that's the problem, Lexis doesn't have a weakness. If there's anyone who follows the rules of the mafia without any problem, it's him. 'He doesn't care about anybody but himself, he killed his own mother anyway.' William shakes his head before he exits the room in anger and frustration. He is always left frustrated or angry whenever he meets Lexis, his god-damn brother. Xoxo
