Chapter 6: One by one

The second man that would enter the house would create some unexpected emotions that Katie was not prepared to have. There he stood just as she remembered. Tall, white skinned, handsome, kind-hearted, sensitive, and shy guy, with a smile that could melt your heart.
"OH MY GOD, DAVE,"
Katie shouted as she began to cry a little bit.
Dave was Katie's high-school boyfriend, and she hadn't seen him since her sister's wedding day four years ago. Dave embraced her with open arms, hugging her tight and letting his hands slide along her back to her hips.
"Katie, you look stunning tonight."
Dave whispered in her in her ear but loud enough for the microphones attached to catch it for the show. Katie introduced Kevin and Dave as she stood in complete shock, now questioning exactly what Mary told Andrew about her.
The three sat together, talking and laughing. Katie and Dave talked about being high school sweethearts but that Katie had several high school sweethearts told about how popular she was. Getting to know Katie was important to anyone coming into the house, and Kevin made sure he paid close attention when anyone talked about her or with her.
"So why did you two break up?"
Kevin asked, ending the laughter in the room.
Just then, the doorbell would chime, and time just seemed to pass very quickly. Possibly for the show, but it didn't take long for Katie's stomach to turn every time she heard it. Next to walk in the door was not a blast from the past but more like a blast of her future. As he opened the door, Katie became a sitting statue . She was still, she was speechless , and she couldn't get up from her chair.
"Ricky!"
She said under her breath, staring at the floor and breathing heavily.
Katie realized right then and there that she would not be able to handle this if she would be facing her reality, her passed, and her future all at one time. Katie removed her microphone and told the production crew,
"I can't do this," as she rushed to her room, locking the door behind her.
