Chapter Fourteen The next morning, the ground was wet with a drizzle of rain that continued but Elise and her Gran were able to enjoy the earth’s life blood because Billy had repaired the roof and no errant drops of rain were sneaking into their home. Billy had insisted that they wait to pay him until they received the bill because it was easier for their record keeping, but Elise figured it was a kindness he’d extended to them and she had graciously accepted his direction. Her stomach flipped when she remembered that she had agreed to go on a date with Billy tonight. She bit her bottom lip, wondering if it was a good idea after the date she’d had with Wes. But all she had to do was remember the plotline of Roman Holiday and how things had turned out for the princess. She shook her head.
