“Derick,” Sunshine called out and attracted the attention from the full table, “I want to sue Cassandra for assault. Is that okay with you?”
“You want to sue my girlfriend and you're asking if I'm okay with it? Mom, are you serious? How can I be okay with you suing Cassandra” Derick said, his tone sharp and filled with disbelief
Mom looked at him, her face unwavering. “This isn't about her being your girlfriend, Derick. It's about her being accountable for what she's done”
“Accountable?” Derick's voice rose, his frustration tightening his throat. “Mom, I've already discussed this with Lillian, and we've talked about this. Suing her will just make this worse,” Derick said, and Mom hit her fork hard against her plate, clearly upset by Derick's response.
