Chapter four:
“Sorry! Who are you two?”
“What can I do for you?” The lady asked as she stopped in her tracks staring at us.
“Wait a minute!”
“Is that who I think it is?!” The lady immediately asked as she walked towards me.
“Is this really you, Angelina?” She said as she got closer to me.
Immediately it dawned on me that I was standing before my aunt, Aunt Wendy, my mother's sister.
“Where have you been all this while, Angelina?”
“I have been asking your mom about you but she hasn't been giving me any positive reply.” Aunty Wendy said as she hugged me.
I was beyond surprised when I saw her, it had been almost eleven years since we last saw each other.
Last I could remember, my mom and aunt Wendy had a fight which resulted in her disappearing and losing connection with us.
“Aunt Wendy, how is it going? How are you back here in Eastfall City?” I asked as I managed to forget all the pain I had just been through these past few hours.
“Without breaking the hug, Aunt Wendy stared at me and said, “It's a long story, I just came back to fix things up with your mom.”
“Our dad always said to put family first, how is Ethan Liam, your husband?” Her words and questions came like a spear to my heart.
“He is…fine.” I managed to say as I stared at Mirabel, my friend who was just behind me.
“Sorry, Aunt Wendy, is my mom inside?” I asked, holding my breath, I knew my mom would be really mad at me because of the outcome of my so marriage to Ethan Liam.
I hadn't actually told her how I met Ethan Liam at his dad's secret brothel for the elites of the city, and I really don't intend to tell her anytime soon.
“She is right inside, actually we were making some pancakes before I saw someone pull up in front of the house.”
“Let's go inside immediately, I don't like this neighbourhood, so many eyes are already peeking at us through their windows.”
Aunty Wendy said as she hugged Mirabel too.
“Is she your friend?” She Immediately asked as we walked towards the door.
“Yes, she is,” I said slowly from behind as I dabbed my eyes dry with the handkerchief I had on my left hand.
Just then the door was immediately heaved open, the lady standing in front of the door was just as I remembered her.
It's been five freaking long years and my mom still looked even younger than before.
“Angelina, why are you carrying all these bags?” My mom asked me as she stared at me from the door.
Before I could even say a word, she carried my bags from Aunt Wendy, immediately we all got inside, and she shut the door with a loud bang.
“What really happened to you, Angelina, my daughter?” My mom's voice was laced with a mixture of curiosity and determination.
I couldn't hold my tears anymore as it began welling down my eyes profusely.
“Mom, you were definitely right about Ethan Liam, that animal just divorced me after everything that I did for him and his family!”
“I really don't know what to do now Mom,” I said as I fell in my mom's embrace and wept profusely.
My mom didn't mind as the tears from my eyes dripped down her back slowly staining her gown.
“It’s really okay Angelina, it's okay, I really did try to warn you but you quite didn't listen to me, but it's all good.”
“It's all good, we are going to get through this shitty part of life together and you are going to come out a better person.”
My mom's words were laced with comfort and support.
I was actually thinking that she would be very much annoyed at me for pushing along with taking the fall for my husband Ethan Liam's crimes but she rather took it a bit calmly.
“Mom, I am really devastated at this point in my life, what is making me angry is the fact that I gave up everything for him!”
“My whole life was spent fighting and building for his family and business success…I'm really pissed off, especially with the fact that he had to divorce me for Eva Scott.”
Immediately my mom heard the name Eva Scott she was immediately infuriated.
I had never seen my mom so angry,, Aunty Wendy and Mirabel watched as she paced around the living room in anger.
“Eva Scott, why must it be her?!”
“After all we have suffered in the hands of that lady and her Mistress of a mom, why would she even show up at your place anyway?!”
“I bet all this shenanigan was planned and carried out by her stupid mother, Mrs Dorothy, she is the reason my husband, Mr Anderson Scott despises us so much!”
“Now her daughter is also at it again, this time around with you!” My mom said as she plopped on the sofa behind her.
Just as my aunt Wendy made her way towards my mom, I began to feel dizzy.
I couldn't quite see perfectly, the room was beginning to get blurry slowly.
I stared at Mirabel who didn't quite see my face or understand what was happening to me as she was busy on her phone.
“Mom, I don't think…I'm feeling too well.”
“My eyes are beginning to…get heavy…”
Those words were the last words that I recalled saying as I fell on the floor.
I had just fainted.
“Oh my God!” My mom and aunt Wendy yelled as they rushed towards my direction.
Throwing her phone in the air, Mirabel immediately dashed to the bedroom upstairs to grab the first aid box.
“Mirabel, there wouldn't be any need for that!”
“Call the ambulance immediately, we need to get Angelina to the hospital!”
