Luke's mouth drops open. He ignores my words and grabs me by the hand. He tries to pull me back into the forest, but I keep my feet planted firmly in the soggy ground. My feet slide in the mud that has formed beneath them.
Rain is pelting down on us as we struggle against one another. I am sinking further and further into the mud.
"I need to get you out of the rain," Luke grumbles.
I finally slip my hand away from Luke, and I fall backward onto the ground. My butt hits the ground, and mud and water splash up around me. I am covered in mud.
Luke watches me carefully to see how I am going to react. I can feel his nerves through the mate bond. I look up at him, and a smile spreads across my face. I grip the wet earth beside me, and a clump forms in my hands. Luke steps
