As Merry walked into the restaurant, she was struck by its beauty .The dim lighting, soft music, and impeccable service created an impression that was both elegant and intimate. She spotted Drake seated at a table, his eyes fixed on her as she approached. He stood up, a charming smile on his face, and greeted her with a firm handshake.
Drake's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing slightly. "You're late," he repeated, his voice low and even. "I don't like waiting for people. It makes me... anxious."
“ Sorry I'm late ” Merry said taking her seat.
Merry apologized ,feeling a shiver run down her spine. She brushed it off as nerves and tried to steer the conversation towards more pleasant topics. They talked about their jobs, hobbies, and favorite books. Drake seemed normal, even charming, as they chatted. But something was off about him .
But as the conversation wore on, Merry started to notice subtle changes in Drake's demeanor. His eyes would flicker with an unsettling intensity, and his smile seemed to hide something beneath its surface. It's was scary .
And then, without warning, the topic shifted. Drake leaned in, his voice taking on a sinister tone. "I love the way blood seeps out of skin," he said, his eyes glinting with a manic energy. "It's like a work of art, don't you think?"
Merry's heart skipped a beat as she realized she was in grave danger. She tried to play it cool, but her voice trembled slightly. "I... I don't think so," she stammered.
Drake's smile grew wider, his eyes fixed on the glass of wine in front of him. "Oh, I think it's beautiful," he whispered, his voice dripping with menace.
He stretched his glass cup and broke it ,as he reached out and grabbed her, Merry's fear turned to panic. The restaurant's patrons and customers turned to stare, and the manager rushed over, his face pale. "Sir, please, let her go," he pleaded, his voice firm but controlled.
Drake's grip tightened, and Merry felt a surge of adrenaline. She knew she had to get out of there, fast. She remembered Sandy's warning,oh..boy.
The manager quickly excused himself and called the owner of the restaurant, Jean, who arrived promptly. To Merry's surprise because she didn't know Jean owns the fancy restaurant,Jean's arrival changed the dynamics of the situation entirely ,He called the police on his way to the scene . On getting there He warned the psychopath severally to stop hurting her arm .
“ No,no she came late and she must pay for keeping me waiting " Drake replied laughing hysterically like maniac. Merry was just there shaking like leaf and Jean couldn't stand the guy and he couldn't afford to get Merry hurt.
With a swift and precise motion, Jean hit Drake's face and few blows , rendering him unconscious. The police were called, and Drake was taken away.
As the police arrived to take Drake into custody, Jean turned to Merry and offered her an indifferent look "You're safe now," he said, his voice gentle. "I'm taking you home"
Merry nodded, still shaken but grateful for Jean's timely intervention. As they left the restaurant, Merry couldn't help but being grateful for his concern
What would have happened to her if ......
She thought silently
“ You okay ” Jean asked Merry,he came back from giving the police his report.
“ Yes”
