Chapter 2:

We stood in my bedroom in silence. I’m watching them, waiting and hoping for one of them to make a foolish mistake. One of the guards stepped forward and tried pulling his firearm from its holster, but I was too quick for him. Without hesitation, I raised my hand and clenched my fist. He stopped, grabbed his neck with both hands, and fell to his knees. He turned red, with his mouth wide open, desperately gasping for air. I clenched my fist tighter and watched him suffer. “Now you know how it feels to be completely helpless.” I said wrathfully through clenching teeth. “Miss Cole, please stop, I beg you!” the other guard pleaded. I turned my head while still clenching my fist and glared at him with pure hatred. I could feel the anger build inside of me, pulsing through my veins. Using my free hand, I swept him across the room into the closet, standing in the corner. I chuckled softly at the sight. I looked at the guard I was holding captive in my grip. He stopped fighting me long ago. I opened my hand, and his body flopped on the floor with a thud. I let out a sigh and looked at the bodies. The raging fire inside of me slowly died down, and I looked at the horrific scene I left for everybody else to find. I ran over to the closet and rolled the guard’s body out of the way. I opened the door, grabbed my backpack and some clothes. I stepped over the body, went to my nightstand, and took the only remaining picture of my mother. I wrapped the picture frame in one of my t-shirts and stuffed it inside my backpack. I flung the bag over my shoulder and went to my bedroom door and stood there for a moment. Listening carefully. When I couldn’t hear anything or anyone that’s when I peeked around the corner. There was no one in sight, then I took my chance, and began my mission to escape the pack house, undetected. I moved quickly and quietly down the hallway, I turned left, making my way to the guest bedroom. The guest bedroom has a huge balcony with a wooden staircase leading down into the back garden. Being familiar with my surroundings, I knew the garden had enough trees and bushes to cover me, and where the garden ends, the famous Majik Forest begins. Huge trees and big bushes, perfect for predator or prey. I know the forest like the back of my hand, all the marked and unmarked trails, every inch of it. As children, we would play there all the time. We would’ve stayed there all day and night if one of the adult wolves didn’t come to call us all home. The guest bedroom doesn’t get used often, so it’s highly unlikely to run into someone when entering the room. I place my hand on the doorknob and gently turn. It made a clicking sound, and I pushed it open very gently. I then stepped inside, closed the door behind me, and I made sure to lock it. The beautiful balcony door stood in front of me. As I approached it, I felt sad. Leaving everything behind is no easy task, but this is what I need to do. I’m the only one who has the right to decide my fate, and now one is going to take that away from me, not even the man I called father. The mere idea of him made my blood boil. I felt betrayed, and by someone that meant so much to me. I yanked myself back to reality. “There’s no time now to become emotional.” I scolded myself. Escape now, cry later. With that idea in mind, I approached the balcony door and opened it. I stepped outside, and the summer breeze blew over my face. I closed my eyes for a moment, soaking up the warm sun and inhaling the fresh fragrance of all the flowers in the magnificent garden. What I didn’t know was that the little breeze blew the door shut behind me. A loud slam interrupted the peaceful silence of the garden. It was loud, very loud. I immediately crouched down, and one foot in front of the other, I made my way down the staircase. I was nearly at the bottom, just four more steps to go… But I brought myself to a full stop when I heard voices coming from around the corner. They are so close that I can smell them. I stayed perfectly still, trying not to alarm them. “We have to find her or her father would be furious. She must be delivered to Alpha Ubel.” One said. “You know, you need to calm down. How far can one little she-wolf go? Besides, if Alpha Ubel doesn’t take her, I certainly will.” The other one said with a chuckle. The third guard joined the conversation, “I don’t blame you, brother. She’s something for the eye. Brown eyes, light hair and that little petite body of hers… Whew, the things I will do to her…” he said sinfully. Their conversation made the blood in my veins boil with fury. I clenched my fists until my knuckles turned pale. I tried my best to control myself in that moment, but then a now familiar feeling started surfacing again. I tried pushing these feelings aside, knowing what my actions did last time. I decided the only thing I could do now was to run. I jumped up from my hiding place and bolted for the forest. The guards spotted me almost immediately. “Stop right there!” they screamed all at once. I could hear them now running behind me, but I kept my eyes forward and focused. I ran as fast as I could, trying to stay on the stone path that led to different corners in the garden. I took the turns with ease and jumped over the smaller bushes to create a shortcut. The forest is right in front of me, and I push myself to run even faster. I could still hear the guards, and a few others joined the ongoing chase, but their voices are becoming fainter by every minute. I felt the soft ground of the forest underneath my shoes. The rage inside of me subsided, and I felt my wolf come forward. My two feet shifted and became four paws. My brown coat took on a golden hue in the afternoon sun, and my eyes, well let’s just say, the last time I’ve checked they were always a deep gold in color, but as of now, little specks of red appeared inside of them…
