Chapter2

Caden had come to wish Elara a happy birthday and had overheard the entire conversation as the doctor left. Swiftly withdrawing to her room, she was consumed by feelings of resentment and jealousy. Elara couldn't let the announcement of her pregnancy jeopardize her freshly established position. Caden came up with a scheme in a desperate attempt to keep her status intact. She was also going to lie about being pregnant. She knew it would be dangerous, but she was determined to keep control over Aiden and the pack. The pack's villa was bustling as the day went on with Elara's birthday celebration preparations. To prove to Elara how much he cared and to atone for the hurt he had caused recently, Aiden had spared no expense. The members of the pack were busy making last-minute arrangements, and the grand hall was decked out with flags, lights, and flowers. Elara, wearing a stunning gown and her heart full of anticipation, felt a fresh sense of optimism and joy. She was eager to tell Aiden the news, see how he would respond, and feel their problems finally go. The vast hall grew crowded as night fell, with everyone coming to celebrate Elara's birthday. With a kind grin, Aiden stood at the door greeting each visitor, but his eyes were fixed on Elara. His breath froze in his throat when she finally materialized. Despite the exhaustion that was clearly visible in her eyes, she looked stunning. As she approached him and placed her hands in his, Aiden muttered, "Elara." "You look beautiful." Elara said, "Thank you, Aiden," with a sincere and gentle grin. "This is fantastic. I appreciate you taking the time to do this." With a voice full of sorrow, Aiden added, "I wanted to show you how much I love you, how sorry I am for everything." Caden approached them before Elara could reply, her expression a mask of forced friendliness. With an artificial tone, she wished Elara a happy birthday. “Thank you, Caden," Elara replied, sensing the tension but choosing to focus on the positive. As the sunset progressed, Elara and Aiden danced together, their movements slow and elegant. Elara felt a sense of peace soothing over her, a feeling she hadn't undergone in a long time. As they danced, she leaned in close and whispered, "Aiden, I have something to tell you." With curiosity and fear packed into his eyes, Aiden cast a low glance at her. "What is it, my love?" Caden came forward as Elara was about to speak to Aiden and reveal the news. Her voice carried over the audience. "I have an announcement to make," she added, her face beaming with happiness. "I am pregnant." The entire room erupted in cheers and congrats. Aiden's eyes widened in astonishment, and he was diverted from Elara to hear what she had to say. He swiftly embraced Caden, his expression filled with relief and delight. Elara's smile wavered, but she remained composed, resolving to surprise Aiden later in private. Caden fell and fainted amid the revelry. Panic broke out as everyone raced to her rescue. Aiden called for a doctor, and one of the pack physicians, Caden's aide, arrived promptly and examined her with a worried frown. “This is serious," the doctor announced. "It appears that Luna Cade has been poisoned. And... she's indeed pregnant." Aiden's face distorted in anger and dread. "Who could have done this?" he insisted. Lynn, Caden's maid, stepped forward, her voice shaking. "I witnessed Luna Elara add something to Luna Caden's drink earlier. I didn't realize it was poison, and by the time I could warn my Luna, she'd already consumed it.” Gasps of shock filled the room as all eyes turned to Elara. She stood frozen, her mind staggering. "That's a lie!" she protested, but the damage was done. Aiden's eyes were filled with a combination of anguish and treachery. "Elara, is this true?" "No, Aiden." "I would never harm anyone, especially Caden," Elara's passionate protests of innocence were drowned out by the pack's murmurs and whispers. The doctor, concerned about Caden's condition, asked that she be taken to her quarters for further care and evaluation. The packmates quickly complied, taking Caden away. Aiden turned to Elara, his face contorted with rage. "If anything happens to Caden or her baby, I will never forgive you," he spat. Elara's eyes welled up with tears, and her voice broke as she begged him. "Aiden, I vow to everything I hold dear that I did not do it. "I would never hurt Caden." But Aiden's fury blinded him. He shook his head, unwilling to respond. "Your words mean nothing right now, Elara." Elara went to her knees, sobbing violently, hoping that Caden would recover and that her innocence would be confirmed. The minutes felt like hours, and the hall was tense with a mix of terror and eagerness. After what seemed like a lifetime, the doctor reappeared, his expression grim. "Caden is awake," he explained, "but she has lost the baby." A collective gasp echoed throughout the crowd. Aiden's features clouded with wrath. He gazed at Elara, who was still kneeling, with a piercing gaze. "Arrest her," he told his guards. Elara's heart dropped when the guards neared her. She looked at Aiden, expecting a sign of trust or understanding, but his eyes were icy and harsh. As she was carried to a cell, sadness overwhelmed her. She knew how harsh Aiden's judgment could be, and the prospect of his never forgiving her weighed heavily on her mind. Elara slumped on the hard floor within the cold, dark cell. She wrapped her arms over herself and her stomach, tears flowing freely. She felt completely abandoned, not just by the pack, but also by Aiden, the guy she had loved and stood by through every adversity. However, she must safeguard her baby above all else.
