Aiden burst into Caden's chambers and saw her sobbing uncontrollably. She started shouting and screaming as soon as she spotted him. "Aiden, Elara killed my baby!" "How could she do this to me?" she sobbed, her voice full of agony. "If you want me to calm down and forgive her, she should drink the same poison she gave me!" Aiden, heartbroken and angry, drew Caden closer, wrapping his arms around her. "Shh, Caden. I promise you, justice will be served. I'll make sure she pays for this." His words were meant to console, but they also sealed Elara’s fate further in his mind. Caden rested her head on Aiden's chest, tears still streaming down her face. "Thank you, Aiden. I just want to feel safe again," she whispered, a small, triumphant smile playing at the corners of her lips as she realized her plan was succeeding. Hours later, Damon, Elara's brother, arrived at Caden's quarters, desperation etched across his face. He approached Aiden with a plea. "Alpha, my sister could never do such a thing. Elara is innocent. Please, forgive her." Aiden's expression stiffened. "Damon, even as Alpha, I can't make a decision without the council's approval. They all saw what happened. I'm quite disappointed in Elara. Her jealousy resulted in the death of Caden's baby. I threw her a beautiful birthday party, but instead of giving me a kid, she killed the one Caden was carrying. "What else does she want from me?" Caden, listening intently, felt a surge of satisfaction. She knew her plan was moving forward perfectly. For it to fully succeed, however, Elara needed to be eliminated. Damon left, his heart heavy with the weight of Aiden's words. He made his way to Elara’s cell and found her sitting on the cold floor, her eyes red from crying. “Elara," he began softly, "Aiden is furious and believes you acted out of jealousy. The council is involved, and things don't look good." Elara looked up at him, her voice trembling. "Damon, I didn’t do it. I could never hurt Caden or anyone. You have to believe me." "I do believe you," Damon said, taking her hands in his. "But Aiden is too angry to see reason right now. There's nothing we can do." Elara nodded, tears spilling down her cheeks. "Thank you for supposing me. Go back, Damon. I’ll face whatever decision Aiden and the council make tomorrow." Damon clutched her hands, his heart aching for his sister. "Stay strong, Elara. I'll do everything I can to help you." As Damon left, Elara sat solitary in her cell, her mind racing with fear and tension. She knew her life was in grave danger, but she also knew she had to hold onto hope. Tomorrow, she would face the council, the reason right now. There's nothing we can do." As dawn broke, the sun's rays oozed into Elara's cell, nourishing a brief peek of hope. She clung to the slim prospect of a fair verdict, her heart heavy with anxiety. The council met to decide Elara's destiny, their voices a cacophony of opposing viewpoints. Caden stood among them, listening carefully. None of their options seemed strong enough for her, until one of her aides, a senior council elder, declared that Elara should be executed for causing Caden's baby's death and attempting to kill Caden herself. Caden jumped on the idea, turning to Aiden with begging eyes. "What the elder said is exactly what I want," she declared, her tone firm yet tinged with venom. The council mumbled in accord, echoing her desire. Aiden, his heart wrenched, noticed the council's agreement favoring Elara's execution. Despite his rage, a part of him still adored Elara. He lifted his hand to stop the muttering. "Elara will not be killed," he stated, his voice stern. "I will expel her from our pack. She will be removed from her status as First Luna, which will now go to Caden.” The council nodded in agreement, but Caden's happiness was incomplete. Despite having everything, she felt she would only be at rest after Elara died. She covertly hired guards to assassinate Elara during her exile and force her to consume poison. Meanwhile, Elara's maid, Mira, went to the cell and delivered the news. Elara's heart broke upon hearing Aiden's decision. She and Mira wept in each other's arms, the treason cutting deep. Mira pledged to follow Elara but then shook her head. "Stay here, Mira. Help Aiden see through Caden's deception.” Guards arrived shortly after, escorting Elara. Aiden, unwilling to confront her directly, watched from afar, his heart aching. Aiden turned aside, tears flowing down his cheeks, as Elara made her final appeal for him to succeed in his leadership. He convinced himself that exile was the only way to spare her from being executed. Elara left the pack, her banishment weighing heavily on her shoulders. Caden's hired guards ambushed her as she was traveling. They forced her to swallow the poison, leaving her writhing in pain. In her final moments, Elara's thoughts were of Aiden and the love they once shared. Remembrances of their laughter, their tender touches, and whispered promises flooded her mind as she lay on the forest floor. The poison coursed through her veins, a painful reminder of betrayal and heartache. Despite the agony, a small smile graced her lips as she held onto the image of Aiden's face. As the world around her grew dim, she felt a profound sense of peace. She closed her eyes, her life slipping away, embraced by the forest's quiet embrace.
