Prologue - The Past
A long scream pierced the dark night. It ripped the stars apart and sent them shooting across the sky in shock. His screams were long, tones of heartbreak mixed with despair and every supernatural creature within 10 miles could hear them. For two whole minutes the whole world seem to stop. Nothing moved, breathed or blinked, even Mother Earth herself seemed to know that this was the darkest night. Not an owl hooted and the moon hid herself behind a cloud and even the river seemed to stop moving.
The witches celebrating Samhain prayed to the Goddess and horned god that whatever it was would not come their way but they knew their prayers were futile for when the first scream sounded the earth beneath their feet shuddered and their wine turned to blood.
The vampires could taste the metallic tang of blood in the dark night breeze and each felt a new surge of power tremble through their veins.
Something important had happened. It had shifted the earth on its axis and turned the night even darker. Change was here and nobody could stop it. All that existed in this moment were the sound his screams.
Then just as suddenly as they started they stopped. Then there was only silence.
The Crimson Army were about to March.
