Before I can reach the open car door, his hand shoots out again, grabs me by the wrist, and spins me around until my back is pressed against the side of his car once more. “What now?” I snap breathlessly, though there’s no real defiance in my voice this time; just exhaustion laced with simmering frustration. “I’m doing what you asked!” My voice cracks slightly under pressure as panic creeps back in at how close he is again, and by the way his body crowds mine against cold metal leaves no room for escape.
