-The Rescue-
There is an eerie calm to the air. It was very early in the morning; I could feel the humidity in the air. There was a small window in the room, but I could not reach it. I always woke up before the sun was up. I could usually hear the breakfast be made, even though it was two floors down. I always pretended to e asleep when my meal was delivered to my room. There was a little table next to the bed that the food was places on. Today seemed different, the air felt heavy. I could not hear or smell anything that I normally did. It was silent. I listened closely when suddenly I heard the sound of women screaming and glass breaking. I began to panic and I pulled the thin blanket over my head. The screaming and yelling got closer to me. The closer it got, the more I feared. After a few minutes, the air was filled with silence once again, and for some reason the smell of iron filled the room. The silence was deafening. I, slowly, pulled the blanket down from my face. I looked at the door as it burst into a million pieces. I screamed in horror not knowing what would enter the room. “What was that?” a man’s voice broke the thru my scream. I closed my mouth and held my breath. Frozen in fear I watched two large men walk into the room. They looked over at me in the bed and c****d their heads. I was under the blanket with my head and hands visible. “Is that a girl?” Before either of them could take another step, I tried to get off the bed. I was pulled back by the steal collar and chain that was around my neck. The chain was so short that it only allowed me to sit up. Because of the fear, I had forgotten that it was there. I yelped in pain as I fell back to the bed. “What the f**k,” the first man said. “AIDEN!” I pulled the blanket over my head again. It was so thin that I could see their silhouettes thru it. They both stood still for a minute until the sound of heavy footsteps sill the air. They stepped aside and a larger man walked in. all I could see was his outline. “What is it, Andrew?” He points towards me and I start to shake in fear. Aiden started to walked closer to the bed and I gasped holding my breath in. the blanket was yanked off of me in a swift motion, faster than I could hold it to me. I was suddenly exposed to the three men in the room. I looked up at Aiden, who still had the blanket in his hand. Tears start to fall from my eyes. “Please,” I whispered. “Out.” Aiden commanded the others. “But?” He turned around and yelled, “I said out Richard!” His tone made me jump and squeak in fear. The two men left the room and Aiden turned back to me. He gently covered me with the blanket and sat at the end of the bed. I sat up very slowly as to not pull the chain. I held the blanket to me. I could not look into his eyes so I focused on his hands. They were large and tinted with blood. “Are you going to hurt me too?” My voice was timid and small. “Why are you chained to the bed?” His voice was no longer harsh and commanding. It was calm and warm and inviting. “I always have been.” His hand started to reach for me and a flinched away from him. He paused for a moment but then continued to reach for me. He touched my chin and lifted my gaze to meet his. I gasped at his eyes. They were a beautiful blue, almost like ice. There was care and curiosity in them. “But why?” he spoke with care and yet still wanting a real answer. “I have always been here, but when I reached 16, they chained me to the bed.” I trailed off and tried to look away, but his hand was still on my chin. A single tear fell from my eye and he wiped it away with his thumb. “I am going to free you from that chain. I don’t want you to be scared.” His eyes changed from the beautiful blue to a dark, almost black blue. His hands reach up and grab the steal collar around my neck. I closed my eyes and held my breath. A growl came from in front of me and Aiden pulled the collar off of me by snapping it in two. I yelped with surprise, but did not open my eyes. I held the blanket closer to myself. I heard the steal fall to the floor and felt a shift in the bed. There was silence so I opened my eyes. Aiden was standing in front of me with his hand outstretched. Without thinking I said, “I’m scared.” He smiled at me and assured me, “I won’t hurt you.” I hesitate for a moment then reach out and take his hand with him. I stand up and the blanket falls to the floor. “Aiden, are you still in there,” Richard yelled. I jumped and curled into Aiden’s chest. The warmth of his body soothes me and I release the breath that I did not know I was holding. He wrapped his arms around me instinctively hitting the large cuts on my back that stretched from the nape of my neck to the small of my back. The pain was so intense that I yelled out and then the room went dark.
