-Home- Pt 2

-Mary’s POV- Aiden held my hand as we walked to the bedroom. I did not ask him anything and it was a quiet walk. After learning that I mated to him and did not know it. He felt it right away, but I did not. Maybe it was because of all the things that I went thru I could not make sense of the new emotions and feelings. As we got to the doorway, I turned to face him. “May I make a small request before you go?” Aiden smiled and touched my cheek. “Anything little wolf.” I smiled at his words. I never realized that when he called me little wolf that I blushed. “Can you show me the difference?” Aiden c****d his head at my request. He must not have understood my question. “You sure you want that? I don’t want to cause you any pain.” “Aiden, I know pain. You have shown me nothing but comfort and care. I trust you.” I wanted him to understand that things are different for me here and I wanted to feel normal. He gently held me to his body and whispered, “I am all yours, little wolf. We will talk about it when I get home.” He kissed my head and walked away to handle his business. I closed the door and went to the bathroom. I looked into the large mirror above the sink. My mind started to race with insecurities and fears. The mate bond was something I had been reading about in the library. It is said to be the most powerful bond there is for the werewolf kind. To be mated to Aiden meant that I was mated to the Alpha of this pack. I needed to read more about that. There was so much I did not know. My thoughts must have been going crazy because there was a knock on the room door. I left the bathroom and answered it. Carson was standing there. “Are you alright?” “Can we talk?” I wanted to share with him all that was going on. Other than Aiden, Carson was the only person that I trusted. No one else talked to me and it seemed like they were avoiding me. “Of course. Is everything alright?” I let him into the room and we sat down in a couple of chairs in front of the fireplace. I flattened my sundress and cleared my throat. “I have been reading a lot about all of this and there is so much that confuses me. Can you help me understand things?” “Absolutely. Anything I can do to help you just say the word.” I could see in his eyes that he truly wanted to help. I took a deep breath and began to explain everything to him. He listened carefully and it made me feel so good knowing that someone cared. “So, I guess the real questions are, how do I trust my feelings? And why does the pack not like me?” Carson sat up in his chair and smiled. “Ok, let’s attack this one thing at a time. First, I’m so happy you found your mate. And the Alpha of all people I’m so happy. Second, when it comes to your feelings, you just have to handle them one at a time and talk thru them. And as for the rest of the pack I think I have an idea.” He smiled and stood up. “Come with me. You have been eating in this room alone and only going to the library. Let’s have lunch in the dining hall.” Bout being around I was nervous about being around everyone, but I know that if I am truly mated to the alpha of this pack, then I need to start interacting more. I stood up and nodded. “I think that would be nice.” We walked out of the room and down to the dining hall. It seemed like the entire pack was there. It got quiet the moment that we walked into the room. “Don’t worry, they are just surprised to see you.” I looked at Camron and smiled. We walked thru the room and to the table that Camron usually sat at. There was already a plate set for him and someone brought one for me. I smiled and began to eat. Camron jumped into the conversation going on at the table while I sat quietly eating. When I was finished eating, I just sat there and watched everyone talk and laugh. It was crowded and loud. I was not used to such activity and I felt the urge to leave, but I managed to stay the entire time. I waited for everyone else to leave the room before I got up to go back to the library when I caught the sent of the rainforest again. I turned around to see Aiden standing in the doorway. I smiled as did he. “You ate with the pack?” He sounded surprised. “I think it’s about time that I tried,” I admitted. “No one expects you to be all over the place so soon, little wolf.” He started to walk over to me and I froze in place. I c****d my head to the side. “What do they say about me?” Aiden smiled and shook his head. “They know that you were rescued during the last raid but that’s all. They also feel your joining of the pack.” I was not sure if they knew about the mating, but I did not want to ask. “Do you want to take a walk around the grounds? Most of the pack are around and can be friendly.” I smiled and nodded. I wanted to fit in as a member of the pack. I also did not know what it would mean to be mated to the Alpha, so I needed to understand as much as possible. Aiden reached out for my hand, I took his and blushed. “Carson told me that it would be a good idea to be open and talk about my emotions. Do you think the same?” We started walking out of the dining hall. “If you are having trouble understanding them then yes, I think it would be best to talk about it. I also think you need to pick who you talk to very carefully.” “Why do you say that? I only talk to you and Carson at this point.” There was no one that I have met yet that talked to me. Andrew and Richard only give me weird looks when they see me and I have not met any other she-wolves. In their defense, I have not been around much. “Well, I’m not saying that my pack can’t be trusted. What I’m saying is that making friends is a hard thing and sometimes you have to be careful who you become friends with so that you are with the right influences.” I could tell that he was trying his best to explain things. “Could I talk to you about things?” I looked into his eyes and blushed a little bit. “I am here for you any time you need me. Not only as your friend, but as your mate.” I stiffened when he said the word mate. I still did not know how to feel about that. I assumed he could feel me stiffen because he stopped walking and faced me. “I know we have a lot of talking to do about that and I will not push things or force you to accept me.” I look to the ground. We were standing in dirt outside the packhouse and a few feet from a grassy area. “I just do not want to be a disappointment.” “My little wolf, you could NEVER be a disappointment to me.” I cupped my cheeks and looked into my eyes with such care. “What is that look in your eyes?” I did not understand what he might have been feeling at that moment. “The feeling you see must be the love I feel for you?” Before I could say anything, a woman walked up to us. “Aiden?” Her voice was confidant and strong. It was an intimidating voice. Aiden turned his gaze to her without taking his hands off my face. “Yes, April?” I looked over at her as well. She was taller than I was, her hair was long, straight and blond. She wore jeans and a tank top. She looked amazing. “You have been avoiding me lately.” She walked right up to us, so close that I became uncomfortable. “I have already told you that I am not interested in keeping things going anymore. I’m sorry.” He let go of my face and took my hand. He started to walk away, but April grabbed Aiden’s arm. “April, I am not getting into this again.” Aiden pulled his arm away from her and we started to walk away again. “This isn’t over, Aiden!” He let go of my hand and spun around. “YES. IT. IS!’ his voice was deep and mean. I jumped and took a few steps back and looked to the ground. I kept backing up until my feet hit the pavement and I fell back. I hit the ground with a hard thud. Aiden spun around to look at me. His eyes were dark and mean. I had seen looks like that before. I began to shake in fear and a tear rolled down my cheek. Aiden fell to his knees and looked into my eyes. “Forgive me?” His eyes lightened and seemed back to normal. I was sitting on the pavement looking at him. I did not know what I was feeling. I was still scared, but the look in his eyes made my heart hurt. “You…. y…” I could not talk properly. “Mary, please forgive me. I did not mean to scare you.” His eyes held so much emotion. “Please, tell me. What do I see in your eyes?” I could tell that my question took him off guard. He stayed on his knees and looked down to his hands. “I feel horrible that I scared you and I feel like I ruined things.” I got up and onto my knees and crawled over to him. I know I must have looked so stupid, but I did not want the Alpha of this pack to look wear in front of his people. “You are ok. It was my fault” I kissed his cheek quickly and sat back. Aiden looked up at me with a weak smile. “You are too sweet for what has happened.” “If I did not keep my heart pure, I would not have survived it all.” Aiden got up and onto his feet. He helped me up and held me to his chest. “You are like no one I have ever met.” I could hear his heart beating faster and faster. “Why is your heart racing?” I needed to know what he was feeling because I could not understand what I was sensing from him. “I don’t understand.” He held me closer. “I love having you in my arms. It makes me feel better.” I had to admit that being near him made me feel more alive, more confidant and more me. Was that love? “Let’s go back inside and we can talk about things more.” I nodded and we went back inside and up to the room.
