The darkness was suddenly interrupted by a bright light, she thought she was dead.
“You are dead” answered a velvet voice, it was female.
Elara scanned her surroundings but it was simply blinding light.
“who are you?” she asked, the answer was a chuckle that made everything including her vibrate, the lights glowed, but it wasn’t blinding anymore. She could make out her companion now.
She had a very pale but beautiful skin, a dress that looked like a thousand stars were knit together. The lady's face was perfect, and behind her, was an enormous throne, she was gigantic!
As she approached Elara she seemed to shrink, so they stood head to head.
“Child, you always ask so many questions” she giggled.
Elara was a bit confused, “maybe this will help” the woman showed her palms to Elara, on the right was a full moon and on the left was a cresent moon.
“You are the moon goddess” Elara's eyes widened.
“Mother of the Wolves” she found her self bowing before her. The moon goddess held Elara's chin and effortlessly pulled her up with it.
“I have a blessing for you and a pressing task” she held Elara'sface between her hands. “one cannot exist without the other”.
“Life has dealt you a terrible card, but I’ll give you a chance to play at the tables again” Elara shook her head feeling confused..
“Go back, live, find love again, a new mate…but, when my children cry for a saviour for the terror that is to come, you will have the power to save them, whatever the cost. will you return Elara?”
Elara blinked, the moon goddess knew her name, she thought of her parents, they would be devastated, she had to go back for them, mate or no mate.
“Yes” as quickly as she answered, the moon goddess smiled andsaid “Trust no one, Trust the storm”. The bright throneroomfaded, there was now darkness.
She felt stiff at first and later she felt her body loosen yo, like ice thawing.
The stench around her made her aware of where she was—a morgue. She broke the door of cabinet her body had been kept, it was easy with her werewolf strength.
She was naked, she took the scrub she found in the office and put it on. She let herself out, and realized she was in the Medical extension of the pack mansion.
She needed to find the Alpha, he would take her home. She was in front of his office, having evaded the guards. Elara heard voices arguing, one crying and another soothing whoever was crying.
She was still a bit disoriented, but she needed to get home, she opened the door to the office and walked it, it was much warmer there than it had been in the morgue.
“Dad? Mum?” she saw them and cut her father in the sentence he was making. I know she didn’t kill herself….
They were frozen in place like time had stopped, her mother spoke first breaking free of Madison's hold. The luna look tuned, muttering something about days.
“Elara?” She hugged her so tightly, she couldn’t breathe.
“Mum!” she released her daughter, her mother's blue eyes were crazed and the rest of her face was puffy.
The rest of her audience came in to hug her and after she was wrapped up in a blanket, it was just like her father, like her to ask questions.
“How” he asked, and she told them everything before she diedand how she woke up, nothing about the moon goddess, she couldn’t remember it all but she remembered that she was to trust no one.
In a flurry calls were being made, Elara didn’t understand most of it, but she knew they were giving orders to search for Rhett and something about an Academy.
The weeks that followed, only Jill and Ollie we’re allowed to see her before they left for college. Her dad had told her, she wasn’t going to Harvard anymore, but some stupid Academy.
Elara was furious, it was Rhett's fault and now her parents and the Alpha had gone into full protective mode.
There was no discussing it, Rhett was still out there—he had lost his place with the Alpha, he was part if some Elite warriors, and he was dropped because Jill told on him.
He blamed her, and would be after her if he ever found her again And now she stood in front of the gates of the Lupine Academy, it was supposed to be a top secret college for Alphas and Betas, but her Dad and Lucas had called in a favor.
Her father had flown with her and dropped her off at the gate, and he left quickly and reluctantly.
She saw a Mercedes drive to the gate and two figures stepped out of it, they gave her the men in black vibe, only one was a lady.
