The gate buzzed open, she approached them with the luggage she could carry and the letter in hand, she showed them and they nodded .
The lady had very dark straight hair, she had a certain elegance in her strides as she lifted the rest of Elara's boxes.
“May I?” the rich voice said to Elara while she was still watching the quick movements of the female.
She turned to him, his hand extended to take her bags, she let him have it and he smirked.
Elara couldn’t make out his eyes from behind the sunglasses he wore. He looked like a runway model, his dark red hair undercut hairstyle, he wore a white sweater on dark blue jeans and a matching Oxford canvas with a white sole.
“Gina, take her” he said to the lady. She did exactly as s he said and Elara found herself at the car backseat, still staring at the two of them.
He drove pretty fast, Elara thought he was crazy, but she was glad to be at the inner part of the school in few minutes.
He got down and Gina took over the car “Take her things to her dorm Gina, I’ll take her to the Dean of students” Gina simply nodded, Elara took that as her cue to get out of the car.
She stumbled as she got out of the car, the perks of sitting for long hours.
“Easy” her guide caught her, his voice was low and his cologne was intoxicating. Elara straightened, Gina had driven off with her things and she walked down the cobbled path behind him.
The building they entered was enormous, with wolves engraved into the stone walls. Students passed by them, and some other older people who looked very cooperate.
“This way” she hurried after him and they entered an elevator, the school gave her a mix of the eighteenth century and modern times. He hit the bottom for the topmost floor, Elara couldn’t wait for the door to be open again, she didn’t want to be in small spaces with him for too long.
The elevator dinged and they stepped out. A receptionist sat at her desk, she smiled at her guide as he approached, he smiled back revealing an amazing set of teeth.
“Mon Cherie, we’re here to see the Dean of Students” his voice was velvety, Elara didn’t know if he was flirting with the Receptionist or not, the woman seemed way older than him, but she seemed to love the attention.
“She has been expecting you” she replied, her accent was French and Elara realized he had not been flirting with Cherie, as her name said on the tag on her blouse.
She hit a button and spoke through a little microphone to someone. “You can go in” Cherie’s eyes lingered on Elara as she spoke.
“Merci Beaucoup Cherie” Her guide led her to a door that he opened and let her in.
“Rex, you have done a fine job guiding our newest student” the Dean said from where she sat not taking her eyes off her paperwork.
His name was Rex, Elara made a mental note to remember. She found him attractive, but he reminded her of how she was murdered.
Grateful as she was, she would remember his name, but forget him once they were done with whatever she had to do.
“Have a seat Elara” Rex handed her a file of forms a to fill out, “Welcome to the Lupine Academy, my name is Genevieve and I'm the dean of students, your admission was done in a hurry, although I already have everything else sent to me by your father, I’ll need those forms filled and returned by Wednesday” that was in two days.
“Yes Ma'am” Elara replied, the Dean stood and walked up to her, extending a hand, She wore stilletoes and a green plaiddress. She had ginger hair and her eyes were somewhat green, but they were more amber than green—she reminded Elara of her mother, strong but calm.
“You can go” Genevieve dropped her hand and motioned to the door “Take good care of her Rex” she smiled at him and he only nodded .
They drove to her hostel, by the time they came out the Car was waiting for them with the keys in the ignition but Gina was absent.
Elara thought everything and everyone was quite different from what she expected. It seemed too normal.
“We are here” Rex spoke again, it seemed to Elara that people here said very little. Even as they walked in and the porters handed him a key, the student though talking all seemed calm and focused on wherever they were going.
They stood in front of a mahogany door, Rex opened it and Elara walked into the huge room it was twice her bedroom, everything necessary in a bedroom was there.
There was another bed and she guessed she would have a roommate, her own things were beside her own bed neatly arranged.
“So this is it then, welcome Elara” the way he said her name was heavenly, she wished she could see his eyes behind his glasses as he smiled.
“Yeah, thank you Rex”
“You seem a little out of sort though, is there anything you need?” she needed to settle down and she needed to see his eyes, they were indoors for crying out loud.
He pulled out a chair from the table beside her bed. And took off his sunglasses, as if he heard her thought—he had the most beautiful eyes, green with splashes of amber, like the sun kissing the sss forest.
“You know, I’m currently on probation so I’m serving time for a week, community service….i'm at your beck and call for a week”
He continued
“And after that?” Clara asked, wanting to know more about him.
“I don’t exist to you, and you don’t exist to me…you’re a freshman and I doubt we’ll see each other a lot” he looked out the window as he spoke, like his mind was somewhere far away.
“I have many questions and a lot to figure out” he moved his gaze back to her.
“I wonder what you are” she continued even though she knew she should stop.
He raised an eyebrow and she saw he didn’t get her question.
“An alpha or a beta” she said, a little embarrassed, he laughedsoftly.
“I am neither” he answered simply and rose to leave putting his glasses back on, he gave her a card with a number on it.
She knew she was the only anomaly at this school, why wouldn’t he just tell her which he was.
“Call only if you really need something” she took it from his hand carefully.
She was confused at his answer and sudden change in behavior. But then she had seen something similar with Rhett.
Elara decided as he walked out not to ever call the number on the card.
