  Maddy's POV   I was surprised by how quickly everyone went about their own business after my little outburst. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing I would be left to get on with my own work.   By the time Nate and I left the office that evening, I was emotionally wrung out. It had been one of those days where every glance felt like a question. I'd held my head high like I promised, smiled when Sarah cracked jokes to ease the tension, and told myself over and over that this storm would pass.   It had to.
